The JW Marriott Marquis Miami garners high marks for its cleanliness and stylish atmosphere, with a contemporary lobby and modern amenities that draw guests in. Many visitors enjoy the hotel's comprehensive amenities, including the acclaimed pool, spa, and dining facilities.
While the rooms receive praise for their space and views, some guests have pointed out the hotel's value for money could be improved due to hidden fees. The prime location is a highlight, yet service experiences have been mixed, with exceptional staff encounters tempered by occasional slow service.

Detailed Reviews
We stayed in the Marriott Marquis in downtown Miami as it was close to the cruise port. Our room 2615 was very spacious with a comfortable super king size bed and had a good view to the sea. The large bathroom had both a bath and a walk in shower. The room was very clean and furnished with dark wood furniture which showed a few signs of age.
There was plenty of drawer and wardrobe space and a safe for valuables. The large TV had loads of channels. There was complimentary bottled water and the room also had an Illy machine for coffee and tea which was replenished on request.
The reception and lobby staff were friendly, efficient and helpful.
One downside is the local resort charge which unfortunately we did not have time to use as we arrived late.
Overall a very good choice for a pre-cruise hotel.

I loved my one night stay at this hotel!! I stayed here to be close to the Miami half marathon! It was a perfect choice as other runners were staying there too. It wasn't too far of a walk from the race finish line! They offered coffee and breakfast bars on the day of the race for runners. Unfortunately, I could not enjoy the room for a second night as the cost was just too much! The second night was going to be around $500! It is a really nice room, spacious, nice bathroom with separate tub and shower. There is also a TV in the bathroom mirror. However, I didn't think I wanted to spend and extra $500 for a second night. If you watch the prices closely you can get a better price if you pay cash in advance and I would only book through the Marriott website. I was able to get one night for $350! It seems that active military gets a great discount though;however, I am a teacher it didn't apply to me! :-(
There is restaurant on the property! I was looking forward to treating myself to a nice meal after my race. Unfortunately, on the day that I tried to dine they only had a limited brunch menu! I didn't want to leave the hotel as I was tired but I would not recommend eating at the the hotel. In addition to the fact that it is extremely pricey!

Aging property but still a top notch value for your money.
Great overall environment to enjoy south beach and still be far away from the craziness.
We personally will keep going back here for a long time due to it’s close proximity to our favorite restaurant La Granja.
Only question I have is how the heck you get the TV in the bathroom to turn on. We’ve been there a good number of times over the years and have never been able to successfully turn the TV back on after housekeeping turns it off.
One thing I was a bit disappointed by was the fact that the hotel removed the packs of Espom salt that used to be positioned in a metal tray on the bath tub.
Bizzare enough, the mini bar was empty and all the usuals like ice tray etc were missing.
My guess is that it’s a precaution due to Covid.
Considering my previous assumption about COVID precautions, I was a bit taken aback by was the amount of employees without masks. I know it’s Florida and I’m pretty sure the hotel management know what they’re doing but I saw a high range of front desk and valet employees without masks, socializing and greeting guests/each other. Maybe management is trying to reduce employee turnover.
Seemed like the whole Biscayne area doesn’t want to acknowledge Covid.
A bit stomped, but I guess it’s Florida, so I understand.
Needless to say, we’ll be back. Thank you for the hospitality!

Unfortunately my stay was not at all what I was expecting, I heard some good reviews about this hotel and the amenities but it came seriously short during my stay. I called twice to write notes on my reservation about celebrating a birthday and my anniversary with my significant other, upon check in at 2pm my room wasn't ready so the agent put us on wait and said they would call when it was ready which is fine. She waived us off and didn't tell us what we could do in the mean time or offer suggestions to eat or drink nearby or in the hotel. We had to ask the bellman if we can store our luggage as well what there is in the hotel to eat while we wait. We were called for our room in a timely manner and when we were officially being checked in the associate failed to mention birthday or anniversary as well failed to explain any amenities in the hotel what so ever.... I waited until she was completely done and asked if there were any notes on the reservation and she stated yes I see the birthday and anniversary but had no empathy and didn't say congratulations or happy birthday. When I got to the room it seemed the lights did not work in half of the room and after 20 minutes of trying to figure it out we discovered a key holder at the door that is the only way to turn the lights on that was not explained to us. I called down to the Front desk to ask for room service and the operator said the menu was on the TV but I explained it was no where to be found she put me on hold for 15 minutes came back and said apparently the menu is down on the TV and I asked for a menu to be brought up and she said it would be approximately 25 minutes to deliver a menu..... I work for Marriott and I understand what you go through with hotels but it seemed that I was brushed off and being it was a very special few days for us I was hoping for a lot more.

My husband and I stayed here for Valentines Day weekend 2021 (Fri-Mon). We arrived late Friday night and when we pulled up to check in, I noticed it was very crowded. My husband was walking back and forth from the front desk to the valet station and could not find anyone to help him. After about 20 minutes, my husband asked the valet who was responsible for check-in and found out that the front desk worker was actually outside working the valet station. He informed my husband that he would help him shortly because they were VERY busy. Once we got checked in, we went up to our room. It was very clean and spacious. We did not have a microwave or refrigerator, but the front desk told us we could request a refrigerator. Although we did request one, housekeeping never brought one to our room and our room was only cleaned once throughout the duration of the stay. The ice machines in the hallways were also out of order, so we had to get ice from either the front desk or restaurants within the hotel. This was very inconvenient. The price of valet was $50 per day, which was steep in my opinion because we had to wait at least 30 minutes to an hour every time we needed our vehicle, even if we called ahead. It seemed as if there were not enough valets because the wait time for cars was ridiculous. This may have just been a busy weekend, but I don't think the price of the stay was worth it due to the inconveniences we experienced.

I am a frequent guest to the Marriott hotel brand but my experience with JW Marriott Marquis Miami has been a great disappointment. The customer service is non-existent and you have to practically beg them to clean your room. Even after begging to have our room cleaned we were told that if you are staying for a certain amount of days the rooms are cleaned every 3 days. We were only staying 3 nights. When they would not clean our room we requested clean towels and practically had to pull teeth to get the clean towels (no washcloths). What a disappointment!!

This hotel is quite broken.
The rooms have noise, noise and noise. We listened to loud elevators shafts, gurgling/loud A/C systems, street noise and even the neighbors TV.
There was no service of the breakfast cafe as it is totally understaffed.
The lack of dark blinds in the bathroom of the room we had let light shine in preventing sleep.
Hallways are dirty.
With Covid the room has no amenities, expect nothing beyonds towels, soap and shampoo.
Front desk could not resolve issues. They even billed the wrong credit card, billing was too hard for them to do correctly.
If you do not want to sleep, be forced to get breakfast outside of the hotel (even when you have breakfast included) and be let down stay here. For that privilege they will charge you some $29 location fee and $55 to park in addition to your room rate. Not a sound investment and not a soundly done hotel.

As a Lifetime Bonvoy Platinum member I stayed here twice in December once with family and once without. The hotel is a case study in contradictions and avoidable issues. I break the experience into 3 parts the broken, the avoidable and the positive.
The Broken (design flaws)
1. If you stay in an executive suite they wrap the elevator shafts and are noisy. Worse still you have a glass door to the bathroom that has no blackout blinds so light pours into the room at all hours day and night. (see photo)
2. I also stayed in a junior suite where the AC system that had a blow motor so loud we could not sleep well.
The Avoidable (but flawed)
1. The service at breakfast in their Met Cafe is nearly non existent. We elected to leave than endure endless waits.
2. When we did eat breakfast the food quality was most average.
3. As a Platinum, Titanium or Ambassdor member you get no lounge and effectively no free breakfast as there is no service. Thus, you get get few benefits beyond an upgrade but suite upgrades have distinct downsides as described above.
4. The destination fee of $28 a day is insulting.
5. The hallways are dirty and never cleaned (see photo)
6. Due to Covid the room is stripped bare. Expect NOTHING no pens, no note pad, no room service, no ice buckets, no coffee machines, no magazines and an empty mini bar.
7. The curtain in our suite kept falling off its track. Annoying,
8. The down duvets are far too warm for Florida.
9. The bed sheets slide off the bed corners.
10. Room not ready hours after check in time.
11. We could smell smoke aromas entering our room including the "herbal" type. I assume another guest caused this.
The positive
1. The hotel is well located.
2. The staff were by and large friendly.
3. Rooms are spacious and modern
4. They were helpful with a pre arrival request I made much to their credit.
On my second stay I raised some my concerns to the front desk who passed them on to management, namely the loud room, the light shining through the bathroom, and the non existent breakfast service. The proposed solution involved a room downgrade and modest rate adjustment. I found that proposal insulting in that for 2 days straight we could not enjoy breakfast, we had a defective suite, a move was required and they wanted to charge me 50% more than I paid for the same room type just days before. I get that hotels are hurting but this approach makes no sense and I for one will never stay at this hotel ever again as I have lost all confidence in their management especially as I am a top tier Marriott guest.

I booked a weekend here with my son so that we would be walking district to the basketball stadium. It was very expensive that weekend - $1200 per night due to a music fesitival. The rate hurts no matter what, but I can justify it when I have an experience that's wonderful. This was anything but. I checked with the hotel prior to leaving to see if there was someplace in the hotel where we could watch the University of Miami basketball game and was told there wasn't any place. On our last night there, I discovered that this was false, and indeed the restaurant had a bar area with tv's where the basketball games were playing. Only we'd already missed the game we wanted to watch due to this misinformation. Then, I discovered that the mini bar in the room was unplugged (and you couldn't plug it back in) due to COVID. When I explained that I'm a Type 1 diabetic and need a refrigerator for insulin and food, I was told that it would be a charge of $10 per night. When I pushed back, they offered to keep my $450 bottle of insulin and food in some room behind reception. They ultimately provided the refrigerator to me for no extra charge, but only after they talked to a manager. The next day, I realized that I did not know what was included in the resort fee. When I messaged the front desk, I was told that the pool and fitness center were the only things included, something that I would expect to be available absent a resort fee. I later discovered on the day of checkout that there was virtual golf, bowling, and many other things available, none of which I was told about (and I was still charged the fee). On checkout, I was then double charged for valet. They fixed it, and I went to get my car. But the valet wouldn't bring it because they said I hadn't paid for valet. After about 10 minutes of back and forth, they were finally satisfied that I'd paid and brought my car. I had a junior suite but could hear the noise from the adjacent room as if the people were right next to me during my entire stay. I asked housekeeping at the beginning of the day on Saturday to clean while we were out between 10 am and 4 pm. We got back to the room to find that nothing had been done. They immediately sent housekeeping up to clean while we were in the room and they talked on their phones and sang the entire time. So the mini bar has to be turned off due to COVID, but they could send in human beings not wearing masks with us in the room without violating COVID protocol. Makes a lot of sense. I also had asked for maintenance to fix the tv in the bathroom because it would not turn on and that hadn't been taken care of either. This is nowhere close to the level of JW and isn't even close to the level of a Courtyard in terms of service. I highly discourage anyone from staying here. I normally keep it to myself if my experience is less than spectacular, but this one was so bad and at such a high price that I had to write a review.

The main reason we chose this hotel was it had a pool that was open and a basketball court that was available to rent for a half hour to an hour at a time.
Our second day there we were going to use the pool again and use the basketball court for a half hour. When we got there in the morning we were told the pool and basketball court along with the bowling and air hockey rooms were rented out for the day for a private birthday party. Talk about watching your kids day of vacation being shot down with a punch in the gut. Also were told our room had a view of the ocean from our room when we talked to them in person about the reservation and when we get there there is a new condo bing built right out our window blocking the entire view. It’s not like it’s was just built in the 2 weeks prior to our reservation.
