The hotel is even better in person than how it looks in pictures with friendly staff and clean rooms. I especially liked the attention to detail and decor of my room with just enough space, like hotel rooms in NY. The rooftop bar is one of the best in the area, and it has a great view of the city, check it out if you're in the area.
Definitely more 'motel' than boutique hotel. Noisy rooms with no soundproofing so you could clearly hear staff in the hallway and all the adjoining rooms. Food and bar service was so poor - staff mainly on their phones or in conversation and ignoring guests. It's really sad as the location is great and the beds are comfy. However, it takes more than a marshall amp speaker and a lick of paint to fake a Soho House guys!
The hotel has no professional leadership and no guest safety awareness. They respond online but not in person. They run it like a glorified AirBNB. Their whole concept and raison d’etre was supposed to be attention to detail but they’ve lost sight of even basic cleanliness, basic promise keeping, and basic hotel safety. An alarm went off in the middle of the night and yet NOBODY was in the lobby. Guests all over the place and nobody to tell us what’s going on. Be forewarned. Stylishness is not enough to keep guests comfortable or safe.
Love this property and the idea that the Life House company is trying to get to. A wonderfully stylish and comfortable space. They provide a great vibe and atmosphere. Note that Little Havana is a Neighborhood. It is not set up for tourism like South Beach and Wynwood. You're gonna have to search things out a bit. At the time of this stay, the Life House's rooftop bar was not finished. Just received a note from the property that it is good to go and rockin'. A great excuse for a follow-up stay.
We were very disappointed by our stay at Life House, Little Havana. While the concept is great, the hotel itself did not deliver. Firstly, the pictures and website online are very misleading. The hotel rooms are much smaller and darker than depicted. The overall hotel is much smaller and doesn't really seem like it's completely finished being cleaned/opened. There is street parking only and the hotel is in the middle of a residential area in East Little Havana and did not feel safe at times (i.e. being stared at by men sitting in their parked cars as we parked our car and unloaded our luggage into the hotel). There isn't really a concierge service. Just one person down there to help you check in on a tablet (who was't there at all times and wasn't friendly or very helpful). To check out you simply text a number. Their app doesn't work and the phone number provided to call for issues/services doesn't work either (no one picked up on multiple attempts). Our room was missing hand soap (the one in there was filled with water to make it last longer), and we had to go down to ask for washcloths and a second hand towel. Our room was right by the front door on the first floor and as we didn't feel safe and knew that would be a loud room, we asked for a different room on a second floor. We were told this wasn't possible. Later on we asked if there were a room at least further back in the hallway on the first floor and then were given a room on the second floor.....The rooms weren't dirty but the carpets in the hallway were visibly dirty and the elevator had a very bad smell. In short this hotel was definitely not worth the $290 we spent thinking we would be staying in this nice, beautiful room and hotel. One of the main reasons we decided to stay were the good reviews and the rooftop terrace bar. I'm highly doubt that all of these "good" reviews were from true customers at the time of booking (booked many months ago) as now there are many more negative reviews online that I feel more accurately describe the experience. Additionally, the rooftop bar had JUST opened the day that we got there, and that was the only redeeming factor. Imagine if we had gotten there a few days sooner...... Also, they have a water station on the ground floor and I filled my glass with water and went to drink it and it smelled strongly of beer/alcohol. Unsure if they even really washed it. Overall it was a very disappointing experience and it felt like we were ripped off and taken advantage of. If this had been advertised properly and the price were cut in half, it would have been a different story but we felt completely deceived.…
