This resort is gorgeous, and overall we had a nice vacation. But there was one major thing that put a dampener on our vacation. First the good. This was our first trip for in a while without our son. Just my wife and I on a 3 night getaway on Labor Day weekend for our wedding anniversary. We opted for the Sirene adults only experience. It was worth it. Our room was amazing, the view of the gulf was great, and the amenities were worth it. When you check in, you’re taken to a lounge area where they offer Prosecco beer or water. We thought that was a nice touch. Our favorite amenity was the adults only pool. Once you pick out your seats, an attendant (Toni was great) will bring towels, lay them on the chair and periodically will come around with complementary bottles of water (much-needed in the Florida heat). If you opt for the beach, beach chairs and an umbrella are also included. Unfortunately, there was a hurricane off the coast a few days prior and it’s stirred up a lot of sediment. The normally crystal clear water was a bit murky and smelly. It was a shame because the reason we chose Marco Island was to go to the beach. But Mother Nature had other plans. However, we thoroughly enjoyed the pool which had sweeping views of the Gulf of Mexico. We enjoyed the complementary breakfast every morning at Tesoro. There’s a full spread with pastries, yogurt, fresh, cut, eggs to your liking, breakfast meats, and a rotation of freshly made pancakes, waffles, or French toast. We loved having breakfast out on the patio every morning overlooking the gulf. Our favorite place was Kane’s, an our door tiki bar/restaurant. The food and drinks were great. We also dined at Ario one night. The French onion soup, cowgirl ribeye , and truffle Mac were awesome. Now for the bad, which put a damper on our trip. We were located on the seventh floor in room 7024. On the fifth floor as a bowling alley and arcade called 10K Alley. They open at I believe 2 PM and close at 12 AM. During those times while we were in our room, all we heard were bowling balls rolling, pins falling, people cheering, and music. You heard it even better if you put your ear on the pillow. This meant that neither of us were able to sleep until 12 AM. Furthermore, something I was really looking forward to doing, which I can never do at home is take an afternoon nap. After hours in the sun at the pool, it would have been great to take a nap before dinner. But it was impossible to do so. Because of this, I wasn’t as rested as I should have been after this trip. In fact, I felt exhausted after that weekend. I’m sure we weren’t the first guests to complain about this who have had that room or any adjacent rooms. We did bring our concerns up and were offered $200 credit, but we could not be moved. Considering how much it cost to stay at the JW, while while the credit was a nice gesture, it was not enough. So beware if you’re assigned a room on the seventh floor above 10K alley. The service at the restaurants was slightly lacking as well. The service didn’t seem to be very attentive at times. They would disappear and not show up for a while leaving us with empty cups. The last morning at Tesoro, a host took us to a table and told us we didn’t have to wait for the waiter and to just go get our food. When we came back, we had full glasses of water, but no one showed up after we sat down to offer us coffee or juice. The waiter showed up after we were done eating and offered us coffee. I declined and told her fairly blatantly that she was a little late. She did not seem to really care. The other day was great though, Alexander does a great job. That being said, would we want to stay here again? Although the noise was a big deal, the amenities were great, the views are amazing, the hotel itself is gorgeous, and most of the staff are welcoming. I think we would be willing to stay here again, but only if we could be guaranteed a room above the seventh floor of Sirene (and I recommend you request the same). …
