We stayed here for two nights. Carlitos was extremely nice and accommodating. We absolutely loved every meal we had here! Each meal was 2-3 courses and very affordable. We also loved that it was just outside of Quilotoa (within walking distance). This helped to avoid the noise of the dogs and other farm animals. If you are considering staying in Quilotoa, stay here!

Visiting Quilotoa in general is very worth the trip, but Samay Kirutoa is the place to stay if you are going there. The family who owns the hotel are so welcoming, so kind, an make you feel right at home - not to mention the delicious breakfasts and dinners that are included in the price. The beds are comfortable with bedrooms that offer gorgeous views. The hotel is set far enough back from the noise of the town, while being last than a five-minute walk from the crater.

This place is all about location. Convenient spot for Quilotoa day trip, but not a fantastically comfortable space... there was no heat and we were freezing. They gave us a tiny space heater for our room but it didn't work. They didn't speak any English and we didn't speak any Spanish so we couldn't ask for another one. We slept in all our hiking gear to try to get warm, just for layering. It was a super quiet (and kind of awkward) place... we felt like we needed to whisper. The food was good and the staff was friendly but between the cold and the quiet, we would probably choose a different place next time. We are still appreciative of the hospitality we received, but it just wasn't our favorite. Oh, and the glasses of wine are $5 each! We each had two glasses with dinner and were shocked by the $20 bill!

Very rustic house opened recently as a lodge. The owner is a local family and the chef is the most friendly and servicial person I have ever met. There is not wifi at all. There is no TV in the room. The views of the surrounding landscape from the house are very nice, but the Quilotoa lake is not visible from here or any other lodge in town, you can only see it from the crater border. Free parking. Very good food. Rooms could be cleaner. A little bit pricey for the area.
