My friend highly suggested I take a walk at Long Key Natural Area. I had a very peaceful trek through very beautiful oak trees and palmetto palms. The park is free. If you want to go in the museum there is a small fee. They have beautiful rocking chairs to sit in and look at the pond which has lily... More

Beautiful view you are a few feet from the waters edge. Unfortunately you can't enjoy the small beach area because seaweed washes ashore everyday. When you rake an area to put your beach chair on there are small insects jumping on your ankles. We stayed 10 out of the 14 days booked, because our motorhome became infested with tiny ants... More

Don't go in September.. Sure it's on the water but the sight is tiny just enough for a tent ,pick nick table and fire pit,the no see-ums come right through the screens , the water is mucky mud ,and the Main Street is right next to you ,so if the bugs and heat don't keep you up the semi and... If you can get into this park, you will love the ocean front sites, clean bathrooms, and friendly staff. There are two hiking trails, one in the park and one just outside the main gate. But the real attraction is the chair on the beach enjoying the sunshine and the soothing sounds of the ocean all on your very own... More

We stayed in the campground for a week in the middle of September. We reserved site 30, but when we got there the connector on the water spigot was missing. The park didn't have a spare part to fix it, so they moved us down to site 59 that is usually kept open for park volunteers. It was a much... More

Nice campsites right on the water, clean restrooms, friendly rangers and caretakers are some of the positive features of this state campground. Negatives would be a little highway noise from US1 and, of course, bugs in the hot months. We visited during a windy and rainy spell, so bugs were not an issue for us. We were concerned because we... If you like the outdoors this is the place for you. Located at 2 hours from key west and two hours from Miami this is the perfect place to enjoy nature, the beach and many sports. Watch the beautiful sunrise and sunset while you camp next to the ocean. You still have the pleasure of enjoying super clean bathrooms (... More

I was there Aug 12 thru 17. I looked at this park in the month of April and I loved it so I marked it for future reference camping. Little did I realize August would be so different. Bugs took you away. The ranger advised us to put baby oil in our Repel because the no-see ums had trouble biting... More

I have camped here several times. Late fall through spring trips have been nice. Campsites are directly on the beach with fire pits. In the summer, the bugs are awful, especially no see-ums. There is some road noise. I was there again this week (August 2014). There is a terrible seaweed issue now. The water for about 50-75 yards from... More

Beautiful sites just feet from the shoreline. There are plenty of tent only sites. Though there are also plenty of RV sites, it has a much more rustic atmosphere than a typical RV park. There are free hot showers, just be sure to keep your flip-flops on. The keys aren't necessarily known for its beaches and this place is no... More
