We absolutely loved our stay at Cournet Haut. Fanny and Alan have created such a relaxing, peaceful and tranquil place. Our kids loved the freedom to explore the grounds and spent many happy hours splashing in the pool and bouncing on the trampoline with friends. We stayed in Le Charme and loved the peace and quiet of the surrounding forest. We’re already thinking about next year!
Cournet Haut was exactly what we had hoped for and more. The safety and freedom of the domaine meant that our 7 year old had the time of his life with his new friends. Climbing trees and swinging in hammocks were as much fun as the trampoline and swimming pool. Some of the best parts of the Dordogne are within 20-30 minutes drive - Castelnaud, Domme, Beynac & Cazenac, Sarlat - and Fanny and Alan have lots of suggestions too. Nothing was a bother for them. Cannot recommend highly enough and cannot wait to go back!
What an amazing place. We had a blast in Domaine de Cournet Haut from our arrival until the last moment. We stayed in one of the stone houses, it was decorated very nicely and had an amazing view. Kids enjoyed trampoline, swimming pool, playing with other kids and Milka, lovely St Bernard dog . Just a great get away for families with kids. The location is also very close to Dordogne River and we spend few days enjoyed kayaking . Bbq and wine in the evenings with amazing view was just great. Fanny & Alan is doing a great job running this family business . We got all the instructions prior our arrival and they gave some good tips about Dordogne. We actually had a privilege to meet them in person, such a great couple. I have been many 5-6 star hotels, but my first ever review goes to Domaine de Cournet Haut. Thanks for the lovely week and hope to see you again in the future.…
Fantastic stay in a lovely part of France. Great facilities for all ages and some fantastic recommendations from the hosts Alan & Fanny. Close to some beautiful places and a couple of the many highlights were Domme and the gardens at Marqueyssac. The pool area was great and my young daughter loved the selection of books, dvds and board games not to mention the swings, slides and sand pit. We also did a lovely bike ride (bike were free to use) along a mainly car free path to Castelnaud-la-Chapelle. The village of Saint-Pompon was very quiet but there was a bakery and a small supermarket there for essentials. We will certainly be returning in the not too distant future. Thanks once again to Fanny and Alan, especially the restaurant suggestions! Regards, Ben
We had a lovely time at the Domaine, staying in a woodland cottage with our two 7 year old children. The location is perfect, lots of local walks and bike rides (with laminated maps provided by Alan and free bike hire!) and within short distance of lots of local attractions such as canoeing, chateaux, gardens and markets. The kids loved trying their hand at tennis, table tennis and of course spending a lot of time in the fabulous pool. The cottage was well equipped and the BBQ and hammocks were a nice touch. All in all a great base to explore the region and would not hesitate to recommend!
We have just arrived back from a perfect 2 week holiday staying at Domaine de Cournet-haut. We stayed in ‘La Bergerie’ which was comfortable with a traditional feel. The view from our terrace was beautiful and meant we could spend each evening enjoying a glass of wine and watching our daughters (age 4 and age 8) making new friends and playing on the trampoline and park equipment. The accommodation is perfect way to combine a active holiday with plenty of added relaxation. There is a large swimming pool with plenty of sun loungers and chairs - a real sun trap and perfect to relax by whilst children play. Also a great range of bikes to borrow for adults and children, tennis court, games room and much more. Alan and Fanny are wonderful hosts and so welcoming and full of advice on the area and recommendations. The Dordogne area is stunning and so much to enjoy just a short drive away. We throughly recommend Domme on market day, canyoning at Castelnaud-la-Chapelle (also the best Patisserie we’ve come across there!!) and the jardin du chateau Des Milandes. Saint Pompont which is a short walk or bike ride from the accommodation is very pretty and the Saturday night food market should not be missed!!! Amazing atmosphere, food choice and general buzz! Thank you so much Fanny and Alan, we hope to return in the coming years 😊…
We had fantastic holiday at Cournet Haut. Our little house was exactly what we were looking for with a nice private patio area to relax in surrounded by beautiful forests but only a short walk away from the shared swimming pool, play areas and tennis court. Our hosts Fanny and Alan have thought of everything if you are taking children (ours are 5 and 2)- in addition to the pool and play areas there a multitude of games, bikes, toys, books and films. Our children loved it! They were welcoming, helpful and knowledgeable about the surrounding area; helping us to plan day trips out, whilst taking the time to phone in advance on our behalf to check availability and book if required. Its really well located- it feels very peaceful but is only a short walk from the nearby village and only a short drive from some of the most beautiful villages in the Dordogne. We would highly recommend the Domaine de Couret Haut!…
After years of looking for the right child-friendly, self-catering accommodation in France, we finally found it in Domaine de Cornet Haut. Cornet Haut is run by French born Fanny and Irish born Alan and they are lovely, warm and very welcoming hosts. Our 9yo daughter immediately made friends with the children of Fanny and Alan (and of other guests) and spent many happy hours playing and exploring. Happy kids, happy parents, as they say. The accommodation was exactly what we were seeking. We stayed in La Forge, a tastefully renovated stone cottage forming part of the main building complex, with downstairs kitchen / living room and 2 upstairs bedrooms. The bathroom was modern and immaculate. The rooms stayed cool even on very hot (mid 30C) days. The grounds contain everything a child (or child at heart) could want – a well-maintained swimming pool, tennis court, trampoline, swings, table tennis space, and extensive grassy areas for just running around. Located one mile outside the small village of St Pompon, Cornet Haut forms the perfect base for exploring the beautiful Dordogne and Lot regions. Most of the “name” sights are within a short drive – Domme, Beynac et Cazenac, Castelnaud, La Roque Gageac, Montfort, Sarlat, Vézère valley (prehistoric caves), Cadouin, Belvès, Monpazier, Bonaguil, Gourdon – and about an hour to Rocamadour and Gouffre de Padirac. Fanny and Alan went out of their way to make us feel at home and clearly take pride in the quality of the presentation of Cornet Haut. So how good was it? We’ve already booked for next year.…
Cournet Haut is such a gem! set in the middle of beautiful countryside this landscaped escape has all the ingredients for a great holiday. We brought our 3 children (17,14 &11) who enjoyed all the on site facilities of tennis, table tennis, bikes and of course the beautiful pool, which was a life saver in the record breaking temperatures of 40 degrees! Our cabin was comfortable and as it appeared on the website. Alan and Fanny are always on hand to answer any queries and are pleasure to deal with. We look forward to returning again.
From the moment we saw the Domaine de Cournet Hauts informative, helpful and detailed website we couldn't wait to visit.......and we were not disappointed. The Domaine is a beautiful collection of warm stone buildings with flower gardens, orchard and woodlands. It is situated along a peaceful lane with a footpath through the woods into the local village, just right for a morning stroll to collect croissants for breakfast. The rooms are very well furnished, comfortable and thoughtfully decorated with fresh flowers and a bottle of local wine on our arrival ! There are lots of amenities at the Domaine we were very grateful to be able to use two electric bikes to explore the local area including an old tramway cycle route which was a lovely mornings ride with a picnic on route. This part of France was new to us and I think is now one of our favourites, there is so much to see without having to drive very far at all. Lovely old market towns such as Domme and Sarlat are definitely worth a visit. I have to finish this review with a really big thank you to Fanny and Alan who from the moment we booked were so helpful and made our stay one of the most enjoyable and relaxing we have had in a long time.…
