My wife and I have been coming to Caliente for 15 years. Eight years ago we became members. Over the years we have seen hits and misses, probably more misses. The staff has always been amazing going way out of their way trying their best to make things perfect. What was always frustrating was the staff not having what they need to get things done. Many complaints have always been the cost of the food and drinks but I’m telling you the food and drinks can be extraordinary and the value in this type of venue is way more than fair. Anyway back to why I’m writing this year. We have missed the last 2 years because of other travels. This year when we checked into a casita (we travel with our dog) we were very unhappy. A quick call to the front desk, 20 minutes later we were moved to a different casita so much nicer. That night going to bed discovered that the mattress so awful. I called Lynn if housekeeping she and explained the problem. She returned my call in 10 minutes and told me staff was sent to Mattress Firm and would be installing a brand new Mattress which they did within the hour. The 2 men would not even accept a tip. With COVID ragging and all of the changes in the resort to keep everyone safe and entertained I would give this resort 6 stars if I could.

Thank you so much for the 5-stars and taking time to show our growth. We know were are far from perfect, but we do try hard every day. And yes, we have made leaps in our service and amenities over eh last few years. And we talk often about the next new thing or next improvement. Some future projects include remodeling 8 casitas, improvements in the Hotel and Condos. Remodeling the Grotto Bar area and upgrading our ceiling, lighting, and display system in the night club.

Property's Favorite Review
First off I will say this was our first visit and we went on a promotion with pretense of sitting through their membership presentation. Which was very low pressure and was not beneficial to us at this time but maybe will be something we may possibly re-visit in the future. Pam was awesome and was very good at explaining everything and showed us around some of the property including a condo and renovated hotel rooms. But before we went I was a bit worried of what we would find by the reviews here. But let me tell you that I was pleasantly surprised and very pleased. I think a lot of people on here must not do their research before they book. We were fully aware that this was a clothing optional, lifestyle friendly resort and the sole premise for coming here. We are members of a clothing optional lifestyle friendly camping resort in Cleveland, Ga and just wanted to get away to some warm weather in the middle of winter but didn’t want to go out of the country (desire in Mexico or Hedo in Jamaica). We did not have a renovated hotel room but it was very nice. The bathroom door showed a little wear but nothing I even notice till the third day so it wasn’t something that bothered me in the least. The bed was fairly comfortable, mattress was older but still holding up well. (I would suggest a mattress cover, this would help extend mattress life and keep things clean. Could put a pillow top cover over which would be cheaper than replacing a mattress from tine to time) We take our own pillows and blankets just in case d/t reviews but really didn’t need them. Yes there was security at the door of the clubhouse but they were very nice. Even when there was a couple of opened water bottles in the bottom of my bag I didn’t realize where in there left from summer. They just took them and through away for me. We brought our own empty stainless cups in with us. They would fill for you or if you didn’t want to drink alcohol you could fill with ice and water using the machine down by the tiki bar. The night club was great and played music from 70s-current. Multiple genres. We had a blast Thursday-Saturday night! Love the spinning pole! It’s my favorite (have one at camp too so fun) food was excellent. The menu for the tiki bar and sports bar fairly reasonable (equivalent or outback, o’charleys, or chili’s) but the fine dining was a bit pricey but also a little more fancy. Pools were all heated except the main one, with the waterfall it would make it difficult to heat (suggestion- paint the main pool floor a dark blue instead of the light blue this would heat the water on its own as the sun would be attracted to the dark concrete. This is what we have at camp so we don’t have to use the heater as much. It may not make it bath water in the winter but definitely help take the chill off and may make that pool more usable in the winter) the conversation pool and tiki bar pool were like bath water though. The weather was cool Friday-Sunday with only a high of 66 on Saturday but the landscape and structures cut a lot of the wind and the sun still made it actually hot and we were able to get a lot of sun and enjoy being clothing free at the pool. There were 2 water volleyball pools, 2 sand volleyball courts, and tennis courts and pickle ball. The hot tub was wonderful and the conversation pool also had jets. Everything appeared well maintained, beautiful grounds, live music during the day and over all friendly staff. (Although the check in girl did write down the wrong room, so our keys didn’t work and room wasn’t ready, but the housekeeper quickly cleaned it. We didn’t find out till the next day that it was actually the wrong room, but they were able to do a switch so we didn’t have to change rooms, which we appreciated) my husband used the gym and yoga with David was wonderful. Would have loved to do more of the exercise classes but just didn’t make it—- next time. We met great people and had a blast! We will definitely be back!

Thank you so much for the 5-stars. We are so glad you had a great time with us. And thank you for leading off with the evaluation of our membership promotion. We know these types of things have a bad reputation and we have developed a way to keep it simple, informative, and supportive. As a business we certainly love getting new members, but we only want to do that if it is right for them as well. We are about fun and friends here. So we are just as happy to help a couple learn it is not for them as we are to bring a couple on as new members. So thank you for reviewing that part of our culture here. We love some of the ides you have set forth in here. Being a lifestyle resort our beds and rooms get a little more use than other resorts...let your mind wander here:) We are always looking for new ways to make it a little better. The pool idea is a good one too and worth considering when we re-do that pool floor. For our smaller pools we got covers, but the big pool is a bit, well, BIG! Thank you for your kind words about our security. We take the safety and security of our members and guests very seriously and are happy to take a few hits in our reviews from others who may not see the security landscape as we do. And thank you for understanding our food and beverage policy and supporting our servers and bartenders. We are so proud that we can offer a great place for them to work and support their families all while meeting great people such as you! You see, great people take things in stride. Yes, we make mistakes, and yes, we are not perfect, but we do have a wonderful staff that takes time to work through each issue to help create a wonderful guest experience. Thank you for being YOU, and we can't wait to see you again.

Having visited this resort now 3 times my wife and I kinda knew what to expect. First off the pools and grounds were very well cared for. The entire staff was first class and really made us feel welcomed every time we entered the clubhouse. From the front desk staff to the security to the house keeping they were just fantastic! This really shows at this resort. We stayed in a casita for the week which is the only way RCI members can stay here. We kinda knew that some of these needed updates but the one we we given was not good. (Casita 17). It was overall dirty and needed a through updating. We tried to overlook many issues and did not complain. The furniture needed replaced and the bed was so uncomfortable with the springs going through our backs I found myself sleeping on the floor and waking up in pain. Unfortunately, that led us to not spending as much time enjoying the resort as we would of liked to due to lack of sleep. That is disappointing when spending hard earned money for a vacation. Overall great resort but stay away from the casita if you can. We will probably opt for the condo option next time.

Thank you for the 4-stars. W ae so glad you had a great time at our resort. Thank you so much for recognizing our staff. Especially in these times they work very hard to ensure all our members and guests have a great stay. We agree the Casitas need work. In addition to a number of other improvements at the resort the Casitas are getting some TLC. We have already remodeled a few of the Casitas and are currently working on Casita 3. Following that we have 8 more Casitas planned for remodel. This is on the heels of opening our new social room Rouge , a massive undertaking, but needed for our members and guests. We continue to improve some areas around the pool for multi-use and have some plans for our night club as well. The hotels received some soft remodels last year and are in our planning for upgrades as well. Further we are looking at our condos to better their experience. We look forward to seeing you again soon.

We enjoyed our stay in a casaita which was just remodeled. Not luxurious but comfortable except for the bed. No internet and barely working TV were my only complaints. The resort is first class and the food was excellent but expensive.

Thank you so much for the 5 stars. We are glad you had a great time. Thank you for the feedback on the Casita. We are working on a plan to remodel 8-9 of our Casitas to fix these issues. And a topic of discussion at a strategic planning meeting on 1/31/21 discussed upgrading TV and Internet in our Non-Hotel accommodations. We appreciate the compliments on the resort and food. As a specialty, full-service resort we are comparative, price-wise, to many others in the Greater Tampa Bay area. We are proud of the quality of our food and we have a great Executive Chef. We look forward to seeing you again.

The resort is very nice and offers many amenities. However, the Casita #16 through RCI is just okay, but was very clean. The WiFi didn't work which also affected the phone in the unit as unusable for calling housekeeping or the office. The mattress on the queen size bed really needs to be replaced as it was very noisy and uncomfortable for both us. The kitchen had most everything you need for basic cooking. There was lots of storage everywhere in the unit, so you'll have plenty of room for sports equipment, swim floats, clothing, etc. The weekend parties at the club were outside so everyone could socially distance. Since it was the first part of January and the weather was cold, several heaters were strategically place to keep everyone comfortable.

Gotta admit we can control a lot, but weather is not one. Hope you found some warm friends:) Thank you for the 4-stars and thank you for spending time with us. The casitas are a great little areas set off with some beautiful views. So sorry your mattress was not up to par. We are working to get that one replaced. Given the nature of our resort our mattresses get a lot of...well...action! Thank you for noticing the efforts we have in place to keep the party going in all that surrounds us. It posses many challenges but our Members, and Guests have been so supportive.
