NUMBER OF ROOMS
The property is outdated (exterior hallways and no elevators); but, effort was being made to upgrade the facility. There were many improvements to bathroom and the new type door lock (touch card) as well as water fountains capable of filling bottles. The furniture in the rooms were old and showed wear and tear. There are plenty of electrical outlets including USB plugs, not usually found in a property of this age. With the exception of the front door there were no accessible doors and there were steps and uneven walkways that made it difficult for guests needing walkers and wheelchairs. There were two steps from the parking lot to the sidewalks. You have to leave the property to have a meal. Effort is being made to bring this property up to quality levels; but, it is a work in progress. I saw this property advertised from a low of under $50 to well over $100. One night for our group was $120.…
Firstly this is more like a motel than a hotel. If your here for more than a week and or intending to be out all day at Disney, Universal or Shopping this is an ideal hotel. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. There is also a fridge and safe that works and complimentary toiletries replenished every day. There’s also a coffee machine in the room. Each floor has an ice machine. There’s 2 big pools and one is heated. Yet there’s no guard attending at the pool. There’s a well stocked store in the hotel run by a very friendly man but my frustration is the shop closes often and is not open later in the evening when guests need it. The restaurant and Pizza Hut are closed. With no info on when they will open again. The reception staff particularly Mikey and Tiffany were excellent and will help with all your reasonable requests and with local information. The cleaning staff though are very noisy when they come around in the morning so be warned! There’s also someone selling tickets for the parks in the morning and friendly people offering a time share presentation to couples (no single guys) where after the presentation and buffet meal you can buy heavily discounted Disney parks tickets. They sit across from the reception desk but are independent of each other. Contrary to other reviews the shuttles to the Disney Parks do turn up but make sure your outside a little early. Use Uber to other places like Universal as it’s a better cheaper option. If you do drive there’s loads of parking spaces. The hotel is also right next to a 24 hour WalMart superstore and there are great places to eat really close (walking distance) by including breakfast. A 24 hour 7 11 is across on the other side of the 192 but you have zebra crossings. All in all if you go with modest expectations you will be very happy. The Maingate is excellent value for money! Happy. Thank you guys!…
I imagine, going on previous reviews, that when this property was owned by the Red Lion chain it was a well run property. Unfortunately, since we made our booking 6 months prior to our stay it changed hands to new private ownership and since then it has obviously gone down hill. Most of the facilities looked tired and in need of refurbishment. Our room was only serviced once during our four day stay, and then it was only serviced because they thought we were checking out, but we decided to stay on an extra couple of days because of their low price and handy location to Disney World. The lift to the second level of units did not work and therefore the bags have to be carried up and down the stairs. If you ware not physically able I suggest you request a ground floor unit. One bonus of our stay was that were able to get our laundry washed and dried at a reasonable price in their on-site laundry.…
I was just there over the weekend and found the same quality and level of service as I am used too. I have been staying in this building ever since it was first built. I was pleased to see an immaculate clean room not run down as some people see it. I understand from one of the clerks I know there were some issues thru the property transfer but many regular customers like me are still returning and leaving satisfied. I paid $57 a night well worth it considering the location to Disneyworld. I will be back for three day at the end on March with our dog. He loves the place too. For my hard earned money this is my Disneyworld Area Hotel!.
To people who goes to parks and/or enjoy the tourism all days, not staying in the hotel, it is very appropriate. The location is good, just the privacy of the rooms if we just open the curtain, is not good.
