This was our first camp site in our RV, ever. Brand new experience for us and so glad we picked here for our first stop. Had a wonderful warm welcome from Walter who showed us our beautiful waterside spot and helped us get hooked up. The view is amazing, an absolute gem of a place. We travelled from the U.K. and just didn’t know what to expect of our trip but Grassy Key set the standard high. A lovely tiki inspired spot by the water was our favourite place to just relax with a drink and stare out to the sea. We had a good chat with Walters wife ( apologies I cannot remember her name ) but she too was super friendly and welcoming. Cannot fault this place. We walked to the SS wreck before and restaurant 2 minutes down the road for food both nights. I don’t think there is anywhere else within walking distance but that suited us fine. If you want small and personal then this place is great. Thank you both for your hospitality.…
Called ot confirm reservation for October. We have two other animals besides my ESA animal. I have a fully registered Emotional Therapy dog that helps me with my PTSD. He is registered, certified and I have letters from both FAA and TSA allowing my dog to be with me along with an ID Card. On 6/17/21 at 9:20am CDT, the property called me and the lady I spoke to told me that he is not a "service dog" and we would not be allowed to reserve a spot becuase we are over the animal limit. I have to assume that this lady is ignorant about what is and is not a service dog, but was not willing to review the letter I have. I am a combat veteran and need the animal at times and to be told by someone not qualified or understanding the laws that he is not a service animal is an insult. Even if she took back her decision,(not likely), I would not stay at this park nor will I recommend this place for any military veteran or person who has need of a support animal. Save your time and money and find another park that does not discriminate.…
Unfortunately this was not an ideal match for us. We started off on a sour note when we arrived at 5:15 pm, they were adamant about not working after 5 pm. In fact we ran into a couple who had been coming there over 10 years and said this was their only drawback. I offered them $50 to stay open , and they said no; we had given ourselves 6 hours to drive from Miami. Come to find out, our RV spot was literally 100 feet from where we parked that night in their driveway. They did leave electric hookup for our RV that night which was helpful. I firmly believe that personally driving an RV to the spot, which was the reason we couldn’t check in, was unnecessary. Time to evaluate your clientele, RVers know how to park, we all literally park 99.9% of the time on our own in other parks across the country. If you have dogs, the entire place is rock driveways that will hurt your dog’s feet. They do share this ahead of time, so this was our mistake. The one exception was the grass dog area. No traditional Beach you can walk into water. No swimming except in pool. So if you want those aspects stay anywhere else. Laundry closed at 5 pm so if you need to do Laundry, plan on taking off your valuable time in The Keys to get it done during the day. Very, very clean. There list of Rules had more pages than both the 400 spot places in Sunshine KeyRV Resort and Boyd’s in Key West. We rented a kayak from a company and the Manager was so mean to the guy dropping off the kayak, saying it would be confiscated if we left it on their beach, I had to walk to the Office to see, only to hear some random story about how some teenagers left their kayaks several years ago, and the Mgr somehow had to deal with it. I was terrified the entire time every time my dog peed on the minor landscaping. Yes, there was a rule saying your dog had to get to the dog area to urinate. So there we are, literally running with our dogs to the front of the park, hoping they won’t pee on a bush. Location view is fabulous. Very clean. Ruined by Management’s overall dictatorial behavior. The whole vibe sucked the good spirits we had. If you like small and quiet with tremendous views, this is the place. Just not a good match us. If they read this Review, they would agree with everything I’ve said and probably be fine with it under the argument their rules keep the place clean for their 36 spots.…
This is a beautiful facility with great hosts!! Very clean with an amazing marina and tiki bar for fun. Gravel throughout so furbabies may need help walking, but they do offer an area for potty time. Quiet and very welcoming. Heated pool to boot! Lots of restaurants and things to do around the area. Don't forget Sunset Grille for an awesome sunset.
Depends what you are looking for. But, if you want clean, quiet & a small community you are in luck! Friendly & helpful staff. Waterfront, pool, docking, laundry facilities, dog friendly. Definitely returning.
Halfway out onto the Florida Keys. It’s about 1¼ hours drive from the start of the Overseas Highway to Grassy Keys RV and about another 1¼ hours from there out to Key West. It’s a little cramped here, but super clean and tidy. It’s gravel sites and entry/exit, which is nice so that you’re not tracking sand into your rig. They have a sandy dock area (which they rake every day) with cornhole and horseshoes and several chairs to look out over the water. We saw some colorful fish right off the dock! And lots of pelicans! Some of the premium sites face the water, which would be nice but pricey. We opted for the cheapest (still pricey because it’s the Keys!) that fit our rig and ended up being just two in from the highway. Yes, we could hear the highway but with our A/C it didn’t bother us.…
First time visiting grassy key RV park and it was great place to camp out. The reviews prior to my visit do not do this place justice. The whole staff very friendly and very helpful. They also adhere to strict COVID rules which is a plus for me. The camp itself very clean and the way they have each campsite with garden gives it a home touch. The views from the marina breathtaking. Too bad it was extremely windy + cold not good combo to stay sitting there longer. Will definitely come back to Grassy key. By the way it’s 5 minutes from marathon where all the restaurants, gas stations, grocery stores are at. Grassy key is in a great location.
We are fairly new to RVing. We brought our daughter and grandson. The sites are spaced nicely, there is plentiful vegetation and our view was directly out onto the water. The place is immaculate, people are friendly and the pool is lovely. There is a marina on the premises, and our grandson was able to fish until his heart's content!! We wanted for nothing, and it will be difficult to top this place on our next adventure!!
We have been RV-ing for 7 years and this park has the most beautiful landscaping and the most helpful hosts of ANY parks we have visited. It is very small and doesn’t have a bath house and the WiFi is extremely spotty, but that said, It is extremely clean and perfectly located. The common area facing the gulf is very relaxing and being in the center of the keys it is convenient to visiting sites both north and south. If you are looking for a quiet park for relaxing or for a central home base for exploring all the area has to offer, this is it.
We spent 7 days from Christmas to New Years. We had a great time at a great campground. Clean, good location, friendly staff and great service. The campground is central to the keys and just far enough away from Marathon to not have so much traffic. We hope to return and visit again
