Skipjack Resort & Marina is celebrated for its poolside activities, spacious rooms with meticulous attention to detail, and a vibrant atmosphere enhanced by live music, making it a family favorite. Guests commend the hotel's cleanliness across both private and public spaces. However, some visitors have expressed concerns about aging amenities, unexpected fees, and variable service quality, which, for some, detracts from the overall value. Despite mixed reviews on service, the hotel's commitment to a clean, fun, and welcoming environment stands out.

This is a wonderful place to stay. The staff is above friendly and efficient. They are getting back on their feet after the hurricane and you can tell they really want to make this a top notch place. TJ the bartender at the Tiki Bar is super friendly and awesome. Pete, the manager makes the best pizza and really want everyone to enjoy the food he is preparing. The resort provides a very basic continental breakfast. It would be nice if they could possible add a bit more protein like hard boiled eggs. We are not huge carb eaters and having only breads and toast everyday made it tough. They do have yogurt but it's the kind with a lot of sugar. Not a big deal but if they are looking to add something, that would be it. Once the restaurant is fully open it will be great. Right now it's a very limited bar menu, but as I said, the pizza is great. The rooms could be a little cleaner. After you shower and walk on the floor your feet are dirty already. They also might want to check on the seals of the shower doors because a lot of water escapes through the door and you need to use more than the bath mat. The location is great, just down the street from two grocery stores and a beach. Nice quiet area. Will definitely return.

This hotel was decent, updated interior with reasonable kitchinette. The location on the keys is good, putting you right in the middle with access to everything. The front desk staff were very friendly and accommodating. I was a little irritated with the resort fee as there aren't many amenities besides the room, the pool, and ice, which every normal hotel usually has and is included in the room charge. We used the pool twice and one time it had annoyingly loud techno music blasting. We couldn't even read our books as we had wanted to. Other than that, the live music on the weekend was a nice touch.
The view could have been better. Our room only overlooked the front entrance and the parking lot. The back was another parking lot. Most of the waterside rooms at the actual marina are taken by residents or long term rentals it seems. I wouldn't expect a great view if you are just staying for a week or so. Overall, the stay was nice and at a reasonable price (minus the resort fees).
The beds were AMAZING! I loved the memory foam mattress and pillows. I have never slept better away from home in my life! So incredibly comfortable, with nice soft sheets as well.
Also of note - if you book as a timeshare there is only one stop for the week for housekeeping to drop off more towels. I would have liked a broom, swiffer, mop...anything to keep the floor a little cleaner. Make sure you bring shoes/socks to walk around the room in or your feet will be filthy.

Thank you so much for your honest review! We have recently upgraded our amenities to include a game room, a ping pong table and are still in the process of adding a more complete gym and so on- We have also upgraded our continental breakfast to include eggs and breakfast meat as well as fruit and yogurt. We also have weekly bands that come to play as people generally enjoy it. Our goal is to have all our guests feel at home and i am so pleased that you loved the bedding! As for the flooring, we have discovered that when they were installed recently, the contractor did not seal the grout and this is the issue!! We are working diligently to correct this. We hope you visit us again soon so you can see our upgrades and have a great stay in Marathon with us! Safe travels home :)

My wife and I arrived on a Sunday afternoon and were checked in smoothly by the front desk attendant. She provided tips on local restaurants and beaches to visit. Our room was clean and well stocked with plates and eating utensils as well as a microwave, coffee maker and fridge. The bedroom had a tv as well as the living room which also had a sofa bed. The bathroom was roomy and also provided a blow dryer and shampoo and conditioner. The swimming pool area had plenty of lounge chairs with umbrellas. They also have a gym with a couple of treadmills and free weights for those wishing to workout. The outside bar had a large screen tv as well as plenty of seating and a good selection of drinks. Our included breakfast was a great way to start our day. Scrambled or boiled eggs were offered as well as three different types of bread and cereals. Coffee and juices were also provided.
Bahia Honda Beach is a twenty minute drive south as well as Sombrero Beach which is probably a five minute drive. There were plenty of great restaurants in the area we visited during our stay. We even got to kick off Stone Crab Season on our last night.
Our interaction with all staff members was great as everyone made one stay enjoyable. We definitely plan on returning in the future.

Was a little apprehensive to stay here as there are so many mixed reviews but decided to give it a chance do to the location and price. So here we go......buildings are a little run down and on the older side but what do you expect? It’s the keys and you are not paying $700 a night for all the bells and whistles. Rooms are renovated and beautiful! California King bed was super comfy (I wish would would have looked at the brand of mattress). Kids said the pull out was slightly uncomfortable but hello, it’s a pull out! Has anybody ever slept on a comfortable pull out? View wasn’t the greatest from the back patio (overlooking an old tennis court) but the water from the front catwalk was gorgeous and the sunsets where amazing from there. Pool was huge and water was the perfect temperature. I read complaints about the restaurant and bar not being open every day of the week which didn’t bother us at all since we didn’t go to the keys to sit around the resort all day and night and there are plenty of places in marathon as well as the keys in both directions. We made sure to use everything that was included in the “resort fee” as to get our money’s worth) the beach buggy is a slow but beautiful ride and the beach isn’t to far away, towels to use in the pool and take to the beach where fluffy and they even loaned us volley balls so that we could use the nets that are set up on the far end of the beach. I saw and heard a lot of complaints about the breakfast. It’s a continental breakfast people! HELLO! It’s meant as a quick grab and go, we have definitely had worse. One couple we where talking to at breakfast (which booked through a timeshare which they traded through RCI, interesting, we might have to look into that) was complaining about the hotel not serving “hot food” and about how they didn’t get daily maid service (we did as we paid nightly). My little family owns a timeshare and never once have we gotten a continental breakfast or maid service at any of them!!! We have ALWAYS been left to our own devices! Maybe these timeshare people should be more appreciative about the fact that they where able to find anything in the keys at all instead of complaining about every little thing! All of the residents that we met that live on their boats year round where very nice and interesting people. Walking the docks at night was very calming and we even saw a few manatee swimming by. The staff was wonderful and friendly and big thank you to Carla who helped us with our every need and offered some great local recommendations as far as attractions and food! We will definitely be back to visit again!

Great location for touring the keys. Getting up in am to see the sunrise at the nearby beach is worth it. Come back to a nice breakfast, eaten outside around the pool area is pleasant before touring for the rest of the day. Nicest beach in the area is just 2 miles away, Sombrero. The bikes are in great shape so take advantage of those. Don't let the shabbiness of the outside of the unit buildings put you off. The units are fully remodeled and impeccably clean. The details of the resort is not in writing so keep asking questions of the staff, they are friendly. Use Deet based sprays or organic sprays if you walk anywhere but on a city street. They have insects called NoSeeUms which are some of the worst bites you can experience and hard to get rid of. Look info up online as there is no info given at the resort. If you want to cook at all bring an electric fry pan and utensils, knives as there are very few in the mini kitchen. Ice is upon request from the front desk. Chairs for the beach are available. Laundry is expensive $5.50 a load and the building is not very clean itself. Sunsets are beautiful at the beach or off the balcony. Not all the pictures represent reality but come close. The value cost wise is great. They are working on the upgrades but no constructions noise was noted. Very quiet.

Went on vacation with my boyfriend, booked this “resort” through Bluegreen/RCI timeshare company. On day two, we watched housekeeping walk past our door and go to the next room to service it. We’re environmentally friendly so we didn’t need new sheets and we wouldn’t have needed new towels if the shower was installed properly. Shower leaked in to the living room. Room phone didn’t work and after multiple phone calls from a personal phone, the front desk finally answered. His excuse was all the phones were out on the island, every other business answered phone calls. Anyway, if you book through a “third party” company they don’t service your room.
View from the door was beautiful, balcony looked over the parking lot.

Hello and thank you for your feedback- We do not service rooms currently due to Covid regulations. If you request towels and sheets to be changed we will of course take care of that. It has nothing to do with third party bookings, but more so that people do not want anyone in their rooms after they have checked in. We disinfect each room prior to guest entry and do not enter again- unless specifically requested. This should have been relayed to you upon check in and i am sorry if it was not made clear... We are currently in the process of upgrading our internet and room phones, so none of our room phones are functional and we tell guests to kindly call us or use their cell phones until the system is fully overhauled. I apologize if it was an inconvenience. We hope you give us another try in the future and have a more enjoyable stay.

We went to the Keys for a long weekend and chose to stay at a cozy family run resort instead of a fancy expensive hotel. Skipjack Resort was a great choice, with its nicely renovated rooms, great pool and bar with live music, as well a delicious food, including free continental breakfast and plenty of free parking. We enjoyed our stay at this beautiful resort, and the close proximity to Sombrero Beach and other attractions. The owners of the resorts are hands on and are ensuring that each guest is having a great experience. Thank you!

Great hotel staff. Great unit but no view. Unit was clean, comfortable bed but couch smelled musty. Partial kitchen was ok with small fridge, microwave and 4 cup coffee brewer. Great location close to grocery store, close to main highway, free continental breakfast, bands played poolside on Friday. Close to Sombrero Beach and walking distance to Crane Point Hammock with well maintained hiking trails, fabulous ocean views along the trail and interpretative signs.

Thank you so much for your feedback! I am glad you had an enjoyable stay! We are blessed with our staff and that is what we strive for, taking care of our guests! The view off some of the balconies is a comment we have gotten a few times and that is why we are in the process of upgrading our tennis court area and beautifying it! It is unfortunate the the really gorgeous views of the canal are from the living room and front doors of some units...

The resort is in the process of remodeling. I reserved a partial view of the canal and our view was actually of the parking lot! But if you have binoculars, then you can see over the roof of the other buildings and peer around the tree tops and you can get a glimpse of some water. As we sat on our balcony for dinner we just watched other guests coming in and going from the parking lot. Interesting to watch people trying to back into a parking spot. But I didn't like the fact I paid more for that view. The furniture and room was new and updated. It was stated on their website that the room would have an induction stove in the kitchenette. Yes the kitchenette was completely furnished with dishes/silverware/sink/fridge and a range-microwave. Yes, a large range microwave with a light and EXHAUST fan. Before arriving we stopped at the grocery store that is just around the corner and bought food to cook, not microwave! Very disappointing. The pool is not heated. The free breakfast is a ticket with a limited choice of food. Eggs, oatmeal, or cold cereal. Bacon or sausage. Muffing, toast or english muffin. Milk or juice. Refillable coffee or tea. Brown bananas, soft apples, or dried up tangerines were available everyday.

Booked this last minute. Is easy to find with plenty of parking, reasonable price compared to surrounding hotels. Check-in is easy and you get tickets for free champagne as well as breakfast. If you don't want breakfast, you can actually exchange the tickets for drinks at the bar ($7 value).

Our room was on the top floor (4th) and had a nice view of the marina. We even saw a manatee from there. The room itself is spacious with a living room/kitchenette area and seems newly renovated. The bathroom is big with a large shower that has a sitting area inside. The bed is comfortable and has a balcony that just overlooks the parking lot/tennis courts.

There is a pool and bar on-site. They have some bottles of local craft beer which I tried and my pregnant wife got a virgin mojito made. We did not order food but the pizza looked great. We enjoyed live music while we were there which was great. The pool deck has plenty of seating as well as games to play including ping pong and cornhole. There is a small fitness center as well with a couple of cardio equipment, scattered dumbells, pull-down machine and bench with barbell.

The free breakfast was okay. It was hot which was nice and has options for you to make your own sandwich.

The hotel is right in the middle of marathon so plenty to do around there and is also just 2 miles from beautiful sombrero beach. We went there in the morning with pastries to enjoy breakfast.

Hello, Yes each room has a balcony which has a patio table and 2 chairs. Some overlook the grounds and tennis court and some overlook boot key harbor. The blaconies overlooking the grounds have front entrances overlooking the marina and canal. You can also take your balcony chairs on the front side and enjoy a beverage overlooking the water!
