The "Queen of the Florida Keys", Cheeca Lodge & Spa has been an exclusive hideaway for celebrities, business leaders and U.S. Presidents for over 70 years. Set on 27 private oceanfront acres in Islamorada, Cheeca has been constructed with a porte-cochere entrance, traditional Florida Keys architecture and spirited tradition of “barefoot elegance” -- a term coined at Cheeca. Along with a coffee bar and top-shelf lobby bar, Cheeca boasts three distinctive restaurants: Atlantic’s Edge, Cheeca’s flagship restaurant offering a seasonal fine-dining menu of fresh local seafood, prime steaks and organic local produce, Nikai Sushi Bar and Restaurant offering the Florida Keys’ freshest sushi, Asian-inspired fare and a unique selection of Japanese sake and wine; and family-friendly Mia Cucina restaurant transporting Naples, Italy into the heart of Islamorada serving up made to order artisan pizzas, pastas and salads.

Reviews Summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.

Cheeca Lodge & Spa offers guests a picturesque setting that many find ideal, complete with stunning views and a prime location close to attractions. While the rooms are cozy with impressive vistas, some guests have pointed out that the charm is slightly diminished by dated features and spotty housekeeping. Though the hotel's cleanliness generally receives compliments, there are occasional grievances about maintenance. The range of on-site activities and amenities is widely appreciated, yet the value perception is tarnished by steep prices and service that can be hit or miss. Evenings at the resort are often magical, thanks to live music and a warm ambiance, despite some reports of noise disruptions.

Great Location, Storied History, Amazing potential - Doesn't live up to it. Feels like the place needs some love from ownership from a quality and investment perspective. Best rooms are in the newer building. Rooms in older part are tired and need refresh. They charge a very high rate - (Understanding it was Spring Break Time) - for what they deliver as an overall experience. Lots of activities if you have kids and or want to be active daily - Tennis, Pickleball, Volleyball, 9 hole Pitch and Put, fishing off the dock. Nice Pools. Good views. Depending on capacity of the resort you will have issues getting chairs. (Again this was a high capacity time) but still. Waitstaff and restaurants are inconsistent and general quality could be better. Hard to get service on the beach and while the tiki bars were really a great atmosphere, the level of quality of service, drinks etc was a crap shoot depending on the bartender you ordered from. We learned to seek out where the best ones were working and go get drinks from their bar. Restaurants - Clearly the most popular was the Nikai sushi - but they seemed overwhelmed and had to delay reservation to keep from degrading the experience. Even then - the sushi chefs managed to push out great quality. It was a highlight of the dining experience. As far as the others - Mia is where most people ended up if they couldnt get into others or didn't go off property. But expect mostly mediocre cafeteria like pasta / pizza etc. Atlantic Edge was ok but for the 5 star prices, you do not get 5 star food or service. We had good lunches ordered from the menus at the tiki bar and pool. Beach lounge chairs need some refreshing and more of them. Beach service was lacking. We saw very few staff and they disappeared for long periods of time even after telling us we'll be right back with you. Night time was laid back, not much entertainment or anything going on. The property was expansive and generally well kept outside. Again - I really feel like this place could be sooooo much better with a focus on delivering the type of quality and guest experience for the price. This is a place that has a storied history of yearly fishing tournaments with presidents in attendance and they use that in their advertising. I just felt like I paid 5 Star prices for 3 star service and quality. Please invest in this place, get serious about quality, and put the fine touches on the guest experience - and I would come back. I would have a hard time coming back if this is the resorts best face.

TRUST THE POOR REVIEWS ON THIS ONE! So many problems with our short three night stay. We got to our $900/night room and it had water all over the bathroom countertop. Clearly a problem with the sink. We called for maintenance and unpacked while we waited as we had to get ready for a dinner reservation. Ended up just changing and going to dinner as we didn’t want to get in shower and have maintenance show while in there. Came back from dinner and went to use the toilet for the first time since check in and found it filthy. Immediately called front desk to request to be moved to different room. Staff came up and took photo of toilet, said they were sorry but couldn’t move us until the next morning. Later that night my husband stepped on a large screw on the bathroom floor. Picking it up, found it with a bunch of hair on it. So disgusting! We woke next morning and repacked our things waiting to be moved to new room. Sat around waiting and finally around 2 pm we were given a different room. Hauled our things to the new room and unpacked again. Now it’s time to get ready for dinner again, entire day wasted. (Remember, we only have a three night stay). As we are getting ready for dinner we find that all the lights in the bathroom are dim and the dimmer switches don’t work. Very difficult to see while applying makeup, doing hair and shaving. Also, we find the rain showerhead doesn’t work and only continuously drips cold water. Thankfully the hand held shower head works so we are able to shower, however pretty tricky with the dripping cold water throughout. Finally, the left side sink not only has the faucet on backwards, it drains so slowly that you are left with soap scum in the sink constantly. At this point, we decided to just “live with it” since we didn’t want to spend another day (the final day of our stay) packing and unpacking again. We were offered a measly $38/person breakfast voucher for all our trouble . . which we declined as it was beyond less than appropriate to accommodate all the issues on a $900 a night stay. We will never be back nor will we ever recommend this place. We will certainly share our experience to anyone that asks about Cheeka Lodge. We live in Key West 6 months of the year and many people ask us about the upper keys, islamorada is a lovely area, especially if you enjoy fishing. BUT, you can do far better than Cheeka Lodge for your money.

Pros: location, staff friendliness, views and the tiki and main bar tenders were awesome. The spa pool is large and lovely. Cons: for the price of over $1,000 a night you would expect: up to date rooms, top fitness center, lux spa facilities, high end toiletries to name a few examples. The rooms and bathrooms were dated, the shower toiletries were sub par, our room was not cleaned every day and the restaurant quality food did not match the cost. The fitness center was basic at best with only two weight machines. The spa is also very dated. This place is past its prime and owners won’t invest to update the aging property.

I planned a trip to Cheeca about 7 months ago, since that time I was monitoring all reviews for Cheeca and as the date got closer was getting more and more concerned after reading the bad reviews . I almost switched to a different hotel! I have a few key points for whoever is in the same situation, don’t listen to the negativity! Cheeca was amazing !!!! We stayed in the main lodge , ocean front room. The room was spacious, clean , had all the amenities you would want. The resort is so spacious you can be part of the crowd or go find a quiet chair and relax . We ate at oceans edge twice , the waiters were VERY polite and the food was good. The check in was smooth, attendants extremely nice and helpful, the beach attendants very nice and very helpful. We booked fishing trips on our own so I can not speak to the concierge abilities. For the comments in the reviews about price - yes it is expensive but that is not a surprise since all costs are fully transparent on the website . Cleanliness on the grounds - this is one thing I will adamantly state - any issues or garbage was the result of LAZY guests not picking up after themselves ! Yes there were attendants cleaning up, but most of the stuff I saw was just an ignorant disregard by lazy guests leaving food containers , cups, towels all over ! There were garbages everywhere and towel bins everywhere- get off your lazy butts and just be courteous to the fellow guests ! I have stayed at very high end and middle ranges resorts, I felt that Cheeca was presented on the website exactly how it was , no surprises. We went during school break - obviously it is going to be crowded around the pool , did I see some parents be clueless and let their kids run wild - yes but that is the parents fault not the hotels - and there were plenty of areas to get away from all the noise. I am so glad I kept my reservation and stayed there, if I am ever in that area again, I will stay there again. Thank you Cheeca for an amazing trip !

Stayed at a 2 bedroom casita beachfront. The location and accommodation was fantastic. The buttler Dennis was marvelous and the entire staff really friendly. The location is out of this world with the view of the Atlantic Ocean.

Absolutely the very worst resort experience I’ve ever had bar none. First of all $850.00 per night, it’s Easter, I get it. But, when I checked in the room (from the 70’s or 80’s furniture) was very dated. They put me in a room that I had to climb 3 flights of stairs without a working elevator or ice machine, both broke. The light switch didn’t work and the fan and its light was also broke. It took an hour and a half to get food delivered at the pool on Saturday. They have very few TV stations and zero premium or steaming channels on the antiquated TV. The tile was dirty as was the shower door and the toilet didn’t flush but barely. My suggestion is to totally gut these rooms and start from new everything. If I were the manager I’d be embarrassed for myself!! The one upside I’ll say for service was the bartender Mikal from Turkey. He is outstanding

Booking a room at was a headache from start to finish the prices were sky-high for what we got. Upon arrival, check-in was slow, and the room fell short of expectations – outdated, and lacking promised amenities. Additional fees for basic services felt like a slap in the face. Save your money and stay elsewhere. Our recent dining experience at was utterly disappointing. After waiting a staggering two hours for a table, we were hopeful that the wait would be worth it. Unfortunately, that optimism quickly faded as we found ourselves waiting an additional two hours just to receive our food. Throughout the ordeal, the staff seemed indifferent to our plight, offering no apologies or explanations for the excessive delays. Despite our attempts to inquire about the status of our order, we were met with dismissive shrugs and vague promises of "it'll be out soon." When our food finally arrived, it was lukewarm at best, and the quality left much to be desired. It was evident that our meals had been hastily prepared, lacking the care and attention to detail that one would expect from a restaurant of this caliber. Overall, the service at was abysmal, with excruciatingly long wait times and subpar food quality. It's clear that the staff is either overwhelmed or simply apathetic towards providing a satisfactory dining experience. Save yourself the frustration and dine elsewhere.

The hotel had nothing but issues, the people were rude and extremely slow with everything. The elevator didn’t work and I have a baby.. getting down to the floor with a stroller and everything else for the pool was not easy. The room phone didn’t work. They played loud music till early hours of the morning. The workers at the pool were horrible. Don’t waste your money. It isn’t all that cracked up.
