The Keys Are Open for Business!
We’ve never visited Islamorada before, and decided to travel to Pelican Cove when our international travel plans to celebrate a milestone anniversary were cancelled due to the Pandemic. We booked 2 nights for the re-opening of the Keys to tourists on 6/1/20 (after being shut down for over 2 months). While there were glitches, (pool wasn’t open and hadn’t been cleaned in 2 months, Tiki Bar on site also not open during our stay, check-in staff forgot to give us wrist bands), the overall experience and location were so outstanding that I overlooked the glitches to give this resort 5 stars. We booked an ocean front room, and what a spectacular view and spacious room it was! Beds were heavenly and in lieu of the closed Tiki Bar on site, we had our own “adult beverages” on the spacious balcony. An added bonus was the full delicious breakfast at the adjacent property, the Postcard Inn, part of the group of 4 resorts that you can visit and take advantage of (once we went back to Pelican Cove and straightened out the wristband situation). We also made use of the free shuttle to visit several outstanding local restaurants (per recommendation from the Shuttle driver). Our room was clean, pristine and spotless, with all of the extra requirements per re-opening in Covid19 times. We’ll be back!
Hello from Islamorada Sandy, Thank you for the detailed five star review! It sounds like you enjoyed all Pelican Cove and the Islamorada Resort Collection has to offer. We are thrilled to hear you will be our return guest, and look forward to welcoming you in the future! Hope to see you soon, Pelican Cove Guest Service Manager

    Book one resort/use three!!
Sitting in the airport awaiting my flight home from both Islamorada and Key West. Booked the Pelican Cove Resort as I wanted a superb view and loved the idea of using two other resorts. The Postcard Inn right next store is A MA ZING!! The facilities are so much nicer there’s so book the Pelican at a cheaper price and walk next store. The pools and beach (a swimmable beach to boot) are great as are the restaurants. That said, the Italian restaurant Ciao Hound, doesn’t allow you to sit outside unless you have a dog....I flew thousands of miles to escape the Northeast winter and left my big dog home and had to sit inside in the frigid air conditioning! Bizarre. The included Continental breakfast was perfectly ok....cereal, fruit, hard boiled eggs, breakfast pastries, bagels, muffins, yogurt etc. Patrick’s “fish like a local” free sessions were fun and free! Overall...recommend this place. My oceanfront room was small but the view on the large patio was well worth it. Get out and see the key as there are some great restaurants within 15 minutes of the resort.
Good afternoon from Islamorada and the Pelican Cove team! It appears you took full advantage of Pelican Cove, and our sister property Postcard Inn! Thanks for the shoutout and mention of our resort collection partnership. You are correct that Pelican Cove is a short walk away from its sister resort, and we love allowing our guests the freedom to move around and explore both resorts. Thank you for the personal mention of Patrick, and his twice a week fishing experience "Fish Like A Local." It is always a big hit for kids and adults, and is indeed completely free for our guests. We hope as you were out exploring the local restaurants and attractions of Islamorada you were able to utilize our complimentary resort shuttle service as well. It runs daily from 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM and has a wide radius of places it can transport our guests. Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback regarding your time. We look forward to your return visit, and welcome to the Pelican Cove family! Sunny regards, Lauren Pelican Cove Guest Service Manager

    Okay stay
Upon check in we were greeted by a happy and cheerful employee who made us feel welcome. We were informed there is no daily maid service due to covid and to text if anything was needed. No maid service except for drop off items to the door. I’ve included both pros and cons to our stay. This is a new day and age for travel with covid. We stayed for 6 nights and had a King Oceanfront Room. Cons Door was not sealed properly as light was visible all the way around our door. Therefore, it was very noisy whether is was people walking by, road noise, air flow squealing through it at all hours, neighbors door slamming…noisy in general. Not a lot of lighting in the room. There was a small desk light next to one side of the bed and a tall lamp in the opposite corner of the room. In the space where the closet, microwave and safe were located there was no lighting. I was expecting hotel size room but the bathroom was exceptionally small and there is no real closet space just a very short bar that shared space with the ironing board. Curtains & furnishings were a little worn, toilet rocked side to side. No maid service, don’t mind not having sheets changed everyday but not getting the floors swept and having to ask when you needed towels, toliet paper and trash can liners was not an ideal vacation. Positive side….Their text system did work well. Whenever we texted and asked for towels, toilet paper, bottled water, etc they did respond fairly quickly and usually provided more than what we requested. Of course you did have to plan to make your requests before the office closed for the day, which could be anytime between 4pm or later. Pros Hotel Grounds were beautiful View from room was gorgeous Location was convenient Room was Clean upon arrival Staff and bartender were friendly A/C worked well Amenities and food next door were great, we spent about half our time at the PostCard Inn. All and all we enjoyed the view and the outside areas were beautiful. Just our room noisy and cramped for us.
We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback with us and for highlighting our beautiful accommodations and amazing staff. They will be delighted to be recognized for their hard work. However, it appears we have work to do. Rest assured that our team will investigate your room comments to ensure everything is in top-notch condition. The front desk is always available to help resolve any problem you may encounter and would've loved to find some solutions for you. Nevertheless, we love to hear that you were able to enjoy your overall visit and we hope to deliver an even better experience the next time you are in the area.

We noticed the mini fridge in the room wasn't cooling properly, our food spoiled overnight. Called front desk, they sent a tech to fix or replace. Never heard back but saw the tech go to the room. Fridge still didn't function properly and was unusable for our stay. Very disappointing since we were there 3 days. Housekeeping didn't replace coffee for our Keurig day 2 or 3. No beach towels available. When we asked a staff member for them, he sent us in the wrong direction. Never found them. And when we checked in, we were never told there was an elevator, so we had to make 3 trips up 3 floors with bags, food, etc. Room was hard to find at night when we arrived as buildings were not labeled from parking area as to room locations. (No directional signing). Location was good, overall condition of the hotel I would describe as tired. Needs upkeep, paint, safety anti slip tape on steps was worn or missing, a light fixture on exterior of building was hanging from it's power cord. Room price for non view was close to $400 per night. At this price I would expect better condition. Would not recommend.

No security at night, the room needs more cleaning. Very nice and I think the price is very good, the bathroom only had warm and hot water. The pool is very nice and the whole area of the hotel is very nice, but I think the maintenance is somewhat neglected.

After having an unpleasant experience 3 years ago over an "Ocean Front" reservation that resulted in us not staying there, We thought we would try again. This time I contacted Customer Service to ensure we would have an "Ocean Front" room. They graciously upgraded our room. When we arrived at Pelican Cove, in the pouring rain, we learned that there was no check-in/lobby and we would have to check in at Postcard Inn, just down the street. At Postcard Inn we were checked in by a very courteous woman named Sherri. Unfortunately that was the last good experience we had with the Postcard staff, everything else was unsatisfactory. After we settled in at Pelican Cove we enjoyed our time there. The only negatives were the glue marks from labels on all the sliding doors, which was very disconcerting, and the Certificate of Operation in the elevator had expired over a year ago. Not having their own Lobby is definitely not a good thing, the phone in the room did not connect with anyone.

This hotel sadly fell very short. We had high hopes after reading previous positive reviews however since booking I noticed more and more negative experiences being reported by guests. It would be very helpful if staff notified you ahead of time that there is no Lobby in Pelican Cove Resort and that check in is at Postcard Inn next door. The rooms have been poorly renovated and an old thin adjoining door, that has been badly painted over, separated us from the room next door. The light from next door shone under the gap and we could clearly hear coughing and talking from the guests all night. The air conditioning turns on and off very loudly all night and made it sound like we were inside an industrial fan. Although the bed was pretty comfortable sleep was impossible due to all the noise. The balcony light had no switch to turn it off so light shone in and to cap it off the alarm clock had been set and went off loudly at 4 am. I'm sure this would have also woken the guests next door as a wafer thin door separates the rooms. The pictures make this place look like a relaxing and polished beach resort. Unfortunately that was not our experience. The amenities are clearly old and although they may have had a coat of paint and new curtains it hasn't been enough to deliver the quality advertised. Black mold grows on the ceilings of restrooms near the bar and in the bottom of the shower tiles. Hopefully management can make some changes to make this stay more enjoyable for future guests. We definitely didn't feel there was value for money.

Sorry, we came here … first night we couldn’t sleep because of the noise the air conditioning was making. The following day at 7 AM, some guy was working on the beach… his truck was driving the backup noise… I mean, I get it they have to work, but Saturday? At 7 AM? We were on vacation. It's not worth the money we paid. Of course, they changed the room for us, but we had a problem with the air conditioning not cooling it. The technician came and left, and all he did was pull out the drapes so the sun won't go in there. At night the toilet was making a weird noise every 5 minutes. WORST EXPERIENCE! Rooms are old and need updates. No air and mold smell.

Travelers beware! My family was moved from our originally booked two bedroom suite to two separate rooms. This was due to a mechanical problem in the original building where I had booked our stay. That could not be avoided and was not the resort's fault. However, we were moved from a 1200 square foot room to two rooms totaling 501 square feet. We were charged our original rate of the two bedroom suite for our stay. After researching what the two smaller rooms would have cost, I realized we should have been credited back a portion of our fee. I stopped into the lobby to speak to a manager and was told no one was available but someone would call me. No one did. After our stay, I sent two certified letters requesting the credit for the lower rate of the alternate rooms. I gave the resort 30 days to respond. No one has ever contacted me. I was being reasonable and only requesting what we would have paid for the two rooms as if we booked those from the start versus the larger suite, even though our stay was also negatively impacted by our children being in a totally different room and also the room sizes being so small we literally had to use the porch furniture to have a place to all sit to watch a basketball game together. So be very careful. If you pay this resort and something happens, no one will contact you ever and you will have no recourse to receive any funds back.

This resort!!!!! From check in to check out, the experience was amazing! I have never written a review before but felt the need to for this place! The room was great, no complaints. There were four of us in a two double bed room, two adults, two children and felt that there was enough room. Water pressure in the shower was just right. Room had a balcony that was equipped with two chairs and a table ocean view and plenty of room! With a stay at the Pelican, you are able to also access the Postcard Inn and two other of their resorts. We only spent time at the Postcard Inn because it was right next door. We took advantage of the pool bar, pool, games and beach at both resorts! Sadly, our itinerary only allowed for one night, but we will definitely be back for a longer stay! Do not overlook this resort! It was absolutely perfect!

Beautiful location and really clean. We loved having the ability to have the quiet of the Pelican Cove and enjoy the Postcard Inn also. Of course, the have the best Rum Runner! The only negative was the food…just ok. Nothing special. Our room was remodeled…yet whomever did the work was extremely sloppy. There was caulk everywhere and the robe/towel hanger on the back of the door was upside down.

If you're looking for rooms with nice amenities, this is NOT the place. Rooms are small. No dresser or closet. The room we were in, #320, had a mini fridge that barely got cool. Asked for someone to look at it the next morning, was told maintenance would be there that day. Returned from touring, no one had come. Called/text several times before someone came and swapped it out with a smaller fridge. But, hey it worked. If you want to use balcony light, you have to twist the bulb in and out. Hand held shower holder broken. Bed squeaks really loud getting in and out. View tho, is amazing. Beach is great very nice otherwise.

We have stayed here in the past multiple times, no issues, this time the room was extremely cramped with 2 queen sized beds and the room was not meant for that. After checking in early to make the funeral the same afternoon we got back to see one big live roach in our bathroom, ok no worries, we proceeded to enjoy the pool and ocean. When we proceeded to get cleaned up and go to dinner we discovered multiple bugs in the coffee maker machine in our room, in the water floating around and crawling out of it when we tried making coffee. Ok stayed cool, now when I tell you that I have never had any problems or issues and we always have had great memories there it really pissed me off when my wife started to get bit by ants in the bed. Yes ants. We brought no food or anything else in our room for all this to be happening. I don’t know what is going on with this resort but we believe as a family that we might have to start staying somewhere else. For the money I have spent here and making this our go to getaway, I have second thoughts about staying here ever again. Sorry but checking out at the post card inn and explaining my self to the young man seemed like it wasn’t the first time he’d heard about it and wasn’t very apologetic nor offered any suggestions. Outside of the room issues the place is a very nice place and a golden egg if taking care of. They would have to definitely have to do something about this in order for me to return.
