What can i say other than it is our 5 th time here staying at the Banyan. This place is out of this world . i look at the negative feed back about the seeweed , smell , lack of service, blar blar blar . These people wouldn't be happy in Buckingham Palace without complaining to try and get something for nothing This is a beautiful, beautiful, peaceful seaside resort where the world stops and life is at peace. People that leave these negative reviews need to grow up and realise this is true nature , not man made Vegas hotels where they are waited upon . free complimentary drinks, food, unlimited . WT.... this place is truly a beautiful, relaxing stunning location where you don't want to be bothered by anybody and enjoy the nature and all that smells and beauty. If you want to nice beach to swimming in go to the Bahamas. The beach in front of our house nothing but beautiful and peaceful . It is the place that you go to, and never want to leave. This is our home away from home. peaceful, tranquil with security that stops people from sight seeing and bothering you anybody that complains about this this place needs their head read :-) This is a place to relax, unwind and get away from the world. Five times here and we can't wait to come back for more. Highly recommend and love everybody there. Thank you for our four days that we stayed with you. It was the most fabulous trip, you have never let us down and we will always come to you. Lots of love from your Kiwi family mark margarita carly stefania lolo

Our stay at the Banyan House in The Moorings Village, Islamorada, was an unforgettable retreat. The 3-bedroom villa marries elegance and comfort, offering a spacious, well-appointed living area and kitchen. The bedrooms are tranquil with plush beds, and the master suite features a luxurious en-suite bathroom. The villa's porch is a standout, perfect for admiring sea views and stunning Islamorada sunsets. The private beach, a stone's throw away, offers pristine sands and a peaceful ambiance. The overall property is beautifully maintained, with an inviting pool and lush, fragrant landscapes that are a joy to explore. Centrally located in Islamorada, we were close to local eateries, boutiques, and attractions like the Theater of the Sea. The staff, from housekeeping to the concierge, were courteous and dedicated, ensuring our stay was nothing short of perfect. The Banyan House is more than a vacation spot - it's a luxurious, tranquil experience that leaves a lasting impression. Highly recommended

There are some great things about the Moorings...the Cottages, the pool and the staff - who are polite and charming. However - given that the Moorings is more expensive than the Four Seasons - it needs to be VERY good. No restaurant, no bar or staff to bring you a drink. No tennis court. The Moorings seems to be very focused on the beach - which is currently a big problem. The seaweed makes their beach close to unusable. If there is no wind - the smell is too much to even sit on the beach. And....you can not really enter the water from the beach - unless you are willing to wade through the muck generated by the seaweed. The seaweed is a known problem - so I called and asked before our trip. "No problem at all and if seaweed comes in - we will remove it all". Unfortunately - this was not an honest response. Better/accurate would have been - "the seaweed will be a big negative effect on your stay - we can make some accommodation on our price - or we can reschedule you". Given the expense level - this is a reasonable expectation. We have stayed at other ultra-expensive places - and when there is a real problem - we have been very happy that they tried to come up with a real solution ( so we would come back ) rather than telling us it is not really a problem. We are looking for a very nice beach place to come to a couple of times a year. The Moorings will not be on our list.

We appreciate your sincere feedback and sincerely apologize for the unfortunate experience you had. Our location boasts one of the most stunning beaches in the Florida Keys, but occasionally, nature brings seaweed our way. Our dedicated grounds team works diligently to maintain the beach, regularly raking and clearing seaweed. However, during high tide, it becomes challenging to remove the seaweed promptly, requiring us to wait for the tide to recede. We genuinely hope you'll reconsider visiting The Moorings again, especially during the period from January to May, when seaweed is typically less prevalent. Your satisfaction is important to us, and we look forward to the opportunity to provide you with a more enjoyable stay.

Yesterday, in the early morning hours of a dreaded departure, I rolled my luggage away from the Orchid Cottage, across the clickety-clack of a handcrafted wooden walkway to our private/gated, and very home-like, parking spot. The walk to/from the Orchid drew us into a vibrantly colored orchid garden, protected under the shade of dozens of coconut palms. Slices of sunshine slip through the palm fronds to light your way to and from. The short walk to the the Orchid cottage is akin to Mother Nature's Yellow Brick Road, and barely repeatable. After only a few hours back in Michigan, I woke up this morning dreaming of excuses to return...asap. The staff at the Moorings, both Sandra and Sara, were as helpful and genuine as your favorite family member. They helped me with resort history, dining, activities, a late night pizza, and our favorite...Captain Rob, who will pick you up at the Moorings dock and curate a day to your liking, just tell him what you're feeling like doing that day. Excellent boat Captain; I even ordered a book he recommended. Our cottage had exquisitely soft linens and fresh buoyant pillows, which I'm ordering for my home tonight. Each night, we unfolded the living room roll-out bed to watch tv with the French doors thrown open to the ocean with fresh air rolling in. At bed time, although not accustomed to a queen, we found the bed to be brand new and cloud-like; phenomenal nights of overdue rest. The new pool - nothing could be done to make it better. Classic design, the temp is perfect (even late night), salt water, gorgeous lighting, private bathrooms are immaculately clean, modern, and stylish. In the cottage, Molton Brown products, Nespresso, and Lavazza make you feel at home. An illuminated candle welcomed us into our bungalow when we arrived, along with Key Lime tarts in the full-size refrigerator, with waters bed side. Several couples were staying in the cottages on property, although we saw only two other guests during our stay. It felt as though someone had personally orchestrated tranquility without our need to ask. I'm young and vibrant, but let me tell you how much I appreciated, in my off time, not hearing tiny ones screaming, no diapers marinating in the pool, no sunscreen and other mysterious fluids floating on top of the pool water. If you need to fill up your soul with peace and the ultimate luxury of nature, the Moorings is your place. I high-five the difficult effort put into allowing every guest to feel protected while on property and relieved of all personal responsibilities. Cons: I'd really like to see food and bar options on property, whether it's an "on your honor" kitchen/ bar or onsite. I understand food/bar options are underway. My thoughts are being lazy on this point, as that's what I do on holiday. It sounds like the new spa is also under development. We will be back...asap. Lia Wayne

Right from the Netflix series Bloodline, the main house and cottages are exquisite. Feel like the Rayburn’s must be nearby. We stayed in the Orchid Cottage. Very, very nice small cottage for two. Low on closet space is my only concern. All cottages are steps from the iconic beach and pier you see in the series. Private park is nice. Pool is fabulous. Everything is well maintained. Pricy at $1700 for smallest cottage to $4000/night to stay in the main house. Great location. Plenty to do. Drinks next door at the Tiki Bat at Cheeca Lodge were outstanding. See Joe the Bartender for a Blueberry Mojito. Best I’ve ever had.

This is a place for getting away and being practically alone but close to everything Islamorada has to offer. On the grounds you will be in your own little piece of heaven and a short walk or bike ride and you are in town eating great food or shopping. The main pool was just completed and it is amazing. The staff is stellar and the grounds are impeccable. The cottages are so cozy and well appointed. The view from our porch was surreal. We saw 2 other people the entire time we were there (7 days).

I had been wanting to stay at this property since I saw it featured in Netflix’s series Bloodline. When the opportunity arose in July, we were happy to find ourselves in the area in June & called to learn Lodges North & South were newly available. The property IS lovely & the cottages are as quaint & luxurious as can be imagined. Very comfortable beds, towels, sheets, porches, lovely pink or blue shutters, manicured grounds & friendly staff. Our cottage was a bit small, even for 2 people for a few nights… but still lovely. The MAJOR PROBLEM… was the beach itself. We booked this property to enjoy the Central Keys, knowing the Moorings was one of the few properties that had any white sand & turquoise water. However because of their location, the keys are being hit HARD with HORRIBLE sargassum (seaweed). If you’re not familiar with what’s happening, google it, search and ASK. When Sargassum is present, it’s a horrible stench, and makes the water and beach uninhabitable. The hotel staff works very hard to clean it up, but even the large properties in Cancun & the Caribbean can’t keep up with this problem. It was horrible during our stay. Even in the best of circumstances, the ocean here & throughout IslaMorada seems more like a lake with a lot grass & murky colors. It was cool to look for Lobsters… but most people rent a boat or book a Sandbar trip to get to the beautiful water I wanted and hoped would be outside our door. I don’t believe the beautiful water it is ever accessible from shore (but I could be wrong). The Moorings owner & his team were ultimately very helpful & responsive to our needs & the problems we encountered during our stay. The property itself is beautiful! Just be Sargassum isn’t affecting the region before you visit.

If you are going to Islamorada and seeking a lovely, private, quiet location, do not hesitate to stay here. We just returned from a 3 night stay (about the perfect amount of time). We were traveling with one of our children (14) and while I would say this is mostly for couples, it was fine for an older child. Our villa/cottage was Orchid and it was perfect for us. Good views of the beach from the front porch and stocked with every amenity you could need (including a W/D and Tide Pods). We loved having a small kitchen and stopped by the Publix down the road for some groceries (there is no food or beverage service on site). The front office staff (especially Lindsey) was great at helping us book dinner reservations (would highly recommend the Beach Cafe at Morada Bay - casual dining - amazing setting and Chef Michael's) both within walking distance. We also enjoyed a fishing charter and did a kayak trip out of Robbie's Marina. Unfortunately it was too windy for snorkeling. They are in the process of building a brand new pool so there was some construction noise that we were warned about ahead of time and the management felt so badly that they we were adequately "compensated" us for any inconvenience. Moorings guests currently have pool privileges next door at Cheeca - a very quick walk - and the new pool is expected to be complete some time in May. Fitness facility at the Moorings was top notch. We basically had the beach to ourselves, including reserved beach chairs. Kayaks, paddle boards, hammocks and bikes at your disposal. Lovely palm trees so plenty of shade. Check out the beer garden at Florida Keys Brewing around the corner. If you are looking to rest and recharge, this is the place to do it and we would definitely stay here again if we return to the area.

Thank you for the amazing review. It was truly a pleasure having you and your family stay with us. We are very excited to report that our pool is scheduled to be completed the beginning of May. The Orchid Cottage is one of our favorites, although it's not right on the beach, the views from front the front porch of the green grass against the aqua blues of the ocean is stunning. Morada Bay sunsets never disappoint and Chef Michael's food and service are always on the mark. The brewery's beer garden is a great local spot to relax and listen to some live music, plus it's only a 3 minute walk from our cottages. We are looking forward to having you stay with us again and enjoy our new pool. Again thank you for the great review!
