Detailed Reviews
Six of us women went to Cayo Hueso Cottages Key West for my Birthday celebration. We stayed in the green house 3 bedrooms 2 bathrooms which was perfect to accommodate all of us. That included a private pool and deck area.
The location is perfect, with in one block was shopping, eateries, site seeing and the Deval loop (free bus transportation) that goes to Mallory Square and anywhere in between. you are 2 blocks from the most southern point of the U.S.A., ocean, and many more fabulous restaurants and spectacular sunrises.
The owner was more than gracious and helpful in my planning for this trip. She even had the cottage decorated in a birthday theme. Communication with Joyce was prompt and informative. Her staff was great to work with as well very attentive and courteous.
The beds were comfortable, there was a full kitchen and smaller studio kitchen in front. Plenty of room for all our food and belongings.
I would highly recommend these cottages for a true Key West experience in all ways.

If you are looking for a personalized experience,
this is your place. This was our first stay at Cayo Hueso cottages and needles to say we won't stay anywhere else. The owner Joyce was super nice, responsive, and very accommodating! The cottages were clean and very well equipped. The semi- private pool area was a little oasis and bigger than I thought it was going to be. Finally Olga who maintains the cottages is the best! She continously made sure we had everything we needed and went above and beyond with providing a very personalized stay for us! She is truly an asset!! Looking forward to our next stay! Thank you!

We stayed in the Blue Cottage and it was like a mini honeymoon! The cottages are so private and cozy. Just sitting by the pool in the morning sipping coffee or at the end of the night enjoying a night cap…you won’t be disappointed!! I took a dip yesterday and it was so refreshing! Can’t wait to go back!! Thank you for a wonderful weekend!!

Cayo Hueso Resorts has been our go to location in Key West for 25 years. Joyce, the owner, is awesome! This last trip we were able to book the entire compound for a wedding. Everyone loved it! Location was perfect as the wedding was held at the Southernmost Motel. Highly recommend checking this place out if you plan a trip to Key West!

We just spent a week at this wonderful resort. Quiet location, clean cottage, great pool and amenities. Joyce is a wonderful host, and Olga went out of her way to keep everything neat and clean. We can't wait to go back again. Fabulous!!

Fantastic little cottages to stay in. Near the Southernmost marker, so in the quiet part of town. Walk, bike, or Uber to the busier parts of Key West. We were the only guests when we went, so had the pool to ourselves. Easy to do business with. Very polite. Will probably be coming back here several more times.

We loved the setting and cottage upon arrival.Spring Break was in progress, and we expected a reasonable amount of noise. The house next to ours, part of the Cayo Hueso resort, was rented to 4 girls, according to Joyce , the owner. She told us to call her anytime if the noise was a probelm, and she would stop it.After two nights of non stop screaming, yelling, and our doorbell ringing we told Joyce we wanted quiet.
Our neighbors were also annoyed and upset with the situation.
We called Joyce 3 times, she insisted there was no one home at the house, and we were hearing street noise. We could see dozens of people inside, and observed endless kids coming in the door with cases of beer.
The rental agreement provided and signed by Joyce has specific references to every violation we observed. She could have evicted them anytime and retained all of their money. Her response was always "I'm sorry, can't help you, how about a bottle of wine?"
"there is no place I can move you"
Night 3 was worse, we called the police, and Joyce. The 4 th night, with advice from a local, we called Code Compliance to report a noise violation. After the enforcement lady left, we left and checked in across the street, at the only available room in Key West, as the noise had not stopped. We paid $380 for a quiet room. The next morning Joyce was so suprised, and agreed to pay for the room, and refund our money. When I called @ 9 am to check out, Joyce said her lawyer advised her that she did not owe us anything, and she was sorry we were not happy with the Cayo Hueso. We paid about $300 a night with the added cleaning and booking fees.I lived in a Colorado Tourist town for 30 years, and have never seen such unprofessional managemant of a hospitality business.
I would NEVER recomend to stay there.

We really wanted to like this place, and for the most part the cottage and our stay were fine and relaxing. There was something kind of off about it though.
We stayed in a 1 bedroom cottage with living room and kitchen, 1 bath. Although a little cramped, the layout was pretty good for us -- we were with our 5 year old and our infant son, and we were able to room with our son with the portable crib mostly in the closet of the bedroom and our daughter had the LR couch. The main point for us was to have some doors to close.
The chief problem was that the A/C unit in the living room was broken, working sporadically and very difficult to control. One night it got stuck on freezing, then our only option was to turn it all the way off, so our daughter was baking, and we had to open the door to the bedroom to give her a comfortable temperature. That of course made having a door to close beside the point. The owner Joyce's response to our complain was kind of weak, she really didn't go out of her way at all to do anything for us -- she sort of shrugged and said the A/C needed to be replaced, that she planned to do it when the season was slower. Umm, thanks, but where does that leave us?
The cottage as a whole was fine, pretty much clean, although there was a strange smell, kind of like urine mixed with strong cleanser?, when we first checked in. I got used to it and just assumed it was some kind of high-strength cleaner they had used before we got there. The pool was quite nice, and it was great to have nearly sole use of it (4 cottages seem to share it, and only 3 seemed to be occupied during our stay).
The small private deck attached to our unit was occupied by a maintenance/cleaning team doing some repairs the first day mid-morning, when we had hoped to sit outside while our son napped. It wasn't possible to do this because the employees were kind of all spread out in that space, although we made it clear we wanted to use it.
Cayo Hueso was not luxury, but the price you are paying is for the location, which is indeed great, just steps from Duval Street (and the quiet end), and for a relaxed and comfortable lodging. I can kind of see how the owner earned the comments about her being disorganized and a less-than-optimal manager in the two other negative reviews here. I'm mainly puzzled about how the reviews here tipped so starkly positive -- we are pretty laid back and don't need luxury in a place, but for some reason our experience here was less than stellar, and it seems like that wasn't matched in very many people's experiences of this place.

First, I have never taken the time to write a review because until none have been worth taking the time. I have stayed in 5 star resorts and dives as well, lived in Hawaii, visited the Virgin Islands, Bahamas and many other locations and Cayo Hueso stands out above them all.
We stayed in the pink 2 bedroom cottage and well, it was just perfect. A complimentary welcome basket was provided with snacks and the fridge was stocked with bottled water, soda and beer. We stopped in Key Largo on the way in for groceries and found that many necessities like coffee, sugar for coffee, paper towels, etc were already there.
Olga, the housekeeper, kept our refrigerator stocked, tried to wash our dishes (we denied it) and even folded our laundry!
Joyce came by on our second day to ensure that we were satisfied and that we had everything we needed.
I really cannot say enough about it and if we don't move to Key West first, we will return to Cayo Hueso again...and we are the types that prefer to stay at different places to have multiple experiences; this however, is the exception.

I was recently married in Key West and was looking for a shared accomodation for our large wedding party. I thought Cayo Hueso was a great fit because the rooms were inexpensive and the location was good. However, the owner of the property made the whole experience a nightmare! She is completely unorganized - having completely screwed up our bookings - dates, availability, payments - it was a mess! She is also very curt on the phone. I felt so bad for my bridesmaid who graciously offered to help organize.

it is a truly tropical paradise and not a hotel. Soap, hairdryer, TP but bring your own shampoo. Just as an FYI if you are flying use smaller containers and place in a plastic bag. this place had a gorgeous pool, waterfall and manicured oasis
