Great historic B&B with essential amenities for a great stay!
This B&B deserves 5 stars on every aspect of the stay. We stayed here for 4 nights. First, the location is excellent. The B&B is actually 2 houses with a street in between, I was confused before I stayed here so figured I would describe it for anyone else who was confused! There's the main mansion and the Lopez house. We stayed in the Lopez House. The main mansion has the pool, the sea wall and the southernmost cafe along with a bar and parking. The Lopez house has the beach in the front, it is not a large beach and it public but it's a beach and also has parking in the back. It is located at the end of Duval street on the quite side of Duval, so basically you have a pool, seawall, beach, restaurant, bar and parking all in one location! That's premium especially during Covid-19. There were 4 of us and my husband and I stayed in LH 205 and our friends stayed in LH 206. There's only 3 rooms on the top floor of LH. 205 and 206 are right next to each other and 207 is on the backside. We had our own private balcony which faced the ocean so the breeze was amazing! We would hang out there at night and avoid the crowds during this pandemic. The rooms were a nice space, character maintained with some modern touches. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was spacious. It was our birthdays and they even delivered a complimentary bottle of champagne to us! To access the pool it was just across the street, the pool hardly had anyone there and had great views of the ocean. The location is premium because it's a short drive or uber to the bars or you can even walk. The one thing that is lacking is the breakfast, it's not the best so one day we just ate at the cafe in front of LH house for breakfast. I would definitely recommend this B&B if you're looking for a quiet stay with everything you need in one place.

    A Paradise
We love the Southernmost House and the restaurant on the property. The location is amazing and convenient but what really makes this place special is the people that work there. Michael is the owner, he is friendly and very attentive making sure our time there was extra special. We had some amazing mojitos at the bar from bartender Mac and enjoyed delicious coconut shrimps with homemade Pina Colada sauce, pizza, and conch fritters while we admired the sunset from the restaurant. Andy and Rafe from the restaurant were very attentive, brought the food out quickly, and checked up on us to make sure we were enjoying our experience. I highly recommend staying at the Southernmost house and enjoying everything it has to offer from the great location to the amazing property, food, drinks, and the friendly staff that are so friendly you immediately feel like family. Thank you so much for the exceptional Key West experience Southernmost House!

    Excellent Meeting Venue
Recently, a group of local businessmen met at the Southernmost House for a scheduled meeting. Having grown up in Key West it is often easy to overlook the not so hidden gems that this island has to offer. The Mansion is one of those gems. We met there shortly before sunset, it provided us a tranquil spot to gather away from the hustle and bustle Duval St. is so well known for. Despite it being peak season, and the hotel being full, we were attended to by staff as though we were thier highest paying guest. The food and spirits provided were absolutely delicious and the atmosphere was second to none. Although the restaurant closed at 7 p.m we stayed until past 10 pm enjoying the beautiful Key West evening and of course the well manicured grounds of the historic property. In my opinion a must do experience when you visit our wonderful city.

It has taken me almost a year to watch back the videos from our trip. We were at the hotel during hurricane Ian last September. Travelers, don’t book during a storm. The storm hit on our first day. They moved us out of our very pricey room. Then hotel staff left us and 4 other travelers at the hotel during a historic hurricane. The manger said she did not feel safe there. It was terrifying. They literally left us there. A day and a half later with they moved us into a different building and we sat out the next few days with another couple and it was nothing like we expected. We made the most of it but later reached out and asked for some sort of credit towards the vacation we spent $5,000 on because we booked the most expense room at the hotel…..we were met with a lengthy email from the manger about how I was inconsiderate and rude. She lied and said she told us to go home and we said we thought a hurricane would be “fun”. She said she talked to the owner (which I don’t believe) and he said to give us a credit of $240 or the same amount towards our next stay. I said I didn’t feel welcome back….another email came back to us accusing us of smoking in the room and just basically reiterating on how I was to blame. I have just always wondered if the owner of the hotel knows that we were left at the hotel during a hurricane….he probably was lied to because wow what a huge insurance liability….manger and staff came back 37 hours after leaving us there….took me the entire year to watch back my videos of my walkthroughs of the hotel when we were stranded.

In June of 2023 we booked the Lopez house and several other rooms at The Southernmost House Hotel for friends and family. We also had our reception at the food truck bar area. The staff were more than accommodating to us, and did nothing except elevate our overall experience. Duffy, Jill, and actually all of the food truck / bar staff were extremely friendly and gave excellent service. The property was very well maintained and the rooms were clean and refreshing. Management staff (Nina, Beth, Loraine, Michael) did everything they could to make sure we had a fantastic time and we could not be more grateful. Even the owner of the property offered his congratulations. If you’re looking for an authentic and relaxing stay rich in history, you can’t do much better than this place. We look forward to our next stay in the future.

During my recent trip to Key West, I had the delightful opportunity to stay at the exquisite "Southernmost House." This property truly exceeded my expectations. The culinary experience was exceptional, offering a wide array of delectable dishes on the menu. Among them, the Lobster Pizza stood out as an absolute must-try! The island drinks were served with flair by the friendly and attentive group of servers and bartenders. The rooms at the Southernmost House were immaculately maintained and provided utmost comfort throughout our stay. The staff was incredibly accommodating and always wore a warm smile, readily assisting with anything we needed. If you plan to visit Key West, I can't recommend this hotel enough - it's a must-stay destination!

Can't wait to visit again. Beautiful house, staff is amazing, property is stunning and best mojitos EVER!! Seriously, no joke! Stayed in suite across from the house, best people/rooster watching spot on comfy wrap-around front porch. Could easily live in the suite, so cute & comfy. Visit Rainee in guest shop(super sweet) & lobster pizza, poke bowls(personal fav) @Seaside Cafe. Everyone I encountered was welcoming & warm. It was perfect & wish I could have stayed longer

I booked room 201 with a king bed and private balcony overlooking the pool and ocean for 2 nights including our 4th of July anniversary. It was spectacular! We watched the fireworks from our private balcony while sipping champagne! The house history is quite interesting and the location is great too. It sits at the opposite end of Duval street, one block from the Southernmost Point, one block from the Butterfly Conservatory, and not far from Hemingway's House. We took an Uber to get to Mallory Square and the Little White House, but walked back. Our complimentary continental breakfast had lots of options and was a great start to the day. The Cafe was also quite good and convenient, not to mention having a great view. Our room was spacious and had strong AC. I would stay here again. Book it!

Our experience with everyone at Southernmost House was top notch from my very first phone call with them. Upon arrival, along with a warm welcome, partial history about the house was shared with us. When we arrived in our room, a bottle of champagne was waiting for us (our 30th anniversary). We had a few relaxing days, exploring the city and cooling off in the pool. We rented scooters to get around the city, they are serious when they say don't park the scooters in "no parking" areas. Came home with a ticket! The bed was comfy, the breakfast was perfect, the bar/restaurant next door was convenient and loved watching the Iguanas around the property. Hoping to make it back sometime. When we do, we will definitely stay here again!

This was our seventh time in Key West but the first at Southernmost, where we spent three nights in February. It is truly a beautiful house, full of history, and we had a lovely time during our stay. Our room was in the main building, and was very comfortable and light, and with all the usual old style fixtures and fittings including the four poster bed which makes it such an authentic experience. Including a coffee machine and fridge is definitely a plus point. One minor thing - there was a dehumidifier in the room which tended to bleep loudly when full during the middle of the night, and then required emptying before it started again. Not a major problem but just be aware that either you need to wait for room to be service to empty it, or do it yourself (could be heavy for some). They offer free bottled water during the stay, and you can pick up as many as you like. This was needed but I hope they recycled the bottles afterwards (we tended to leave them in the room for clearing). Breakfast was wonderful, whether eating outside on the veranda or in the lovely dining room. Lots of options and plenty of fresh coffee. It was great to relax outside and enjoy breakfast with the local roosters. The pool areas is also wonderful, lots of bed space and an awesome view (the beautiful house one way and the ocean the other). The slight downside is that the seaside cafe is right over the fence and so there is a slight feel of being only a few feet from noise and bustle, rather than a more serene experience. Also if you needed to use the bathroom while at the pool you were sharing with all the people visiting the cafe (unless you went back to the room). The bar is also part of the cafe, and is on the tiki side of the Key West type bar. We had drinks there one evening before heading out, and the staff were friendly, and the drinks were likewise tiki style. The staff at Southernmost are also all friendly and helpful. While we were there, the hot water stopped working for about a day. We weren’t told of this and endured a cold shower. When we enquired they apologised and said we could use a downstairs room for a hot shower. We understand these things happen, especially in such a grand old house, but we were paying more than $650 per night, and so perhaps a discount or complimentary drinks might have been in order. The price we paid didn’t really match the overall experience, but that said, it is a beautiful old authentic Key West experience with lots to offer, and we had a relaxing 3 nights stay. It has a wonderful location for the pool (although as crowds build nearby during the day it can feel a bit hectic around the place), and the room was lovely, as were the staff and breakfast.

As much as we love the positive comments, it is also helpful to know if anything didn't go quite as well as expected. That way we can address the issue so that another guest doesn't have that experience. We enjoyed having you as our guests, and hope that you will return soon. Sincerely,

We stayed in the ocean front bungalow 101 and enjoyed 2 fabulous nights. Our own private patio with two rocking chairs, two lounge chairs and a small bistro table set. The bed was a little on the high side, but very comfortable. The humidity machine runs none stop and the contained water has to be emptied every day. That was a unique experience for us. The bungalow is fully stocked and we loved having a full size refrigerator. The Keurig had a nice selection of coffees and teas and was re-stocked with our favorites. We were arriving a bit earlier than planned and called the Southernmost House. Our room was ready and we were able to check in early. It was amazing! There are complimentary water bottles in the registration office and that was great to grab before heading out for the day. Each sunrise was hidden by clouds, but still very beautiful. The breakfast in the mansion was one of the best I have ever experienced. Buffet stations that were spaced in a way that the room was never over crowded. There had to be at least 20 items to choose from. Everything was fresh and there was a microwave to warm up items. We sat out on the wrap around porch. There are roosters, chickens, birds, lizards and at least one iguana roaming around. Overall a very enjoyable place to lay our heads after a day exploring Key West. We enjoyed the pool and had it to ourselves at sunset. It felt wonderful to be weightless after a long day of walking. This was our first experience at an adults only resort and honestly do not want to go back to a family experience. My husband and I have pizza on every vacation and to have an excellent pie right outside our room was amazing. There were no leftovers. Service and drinks were great, too.

Dear M4501VEamyh, Thank you for your review of the Southernmost Mansion. Bungalow 101 is one of our most popular rooms, so we are glad to hear that you enjoyed your time there. We have recently added dehumidifiers as we've found they help maintain the freshness of the rooms and help to considerably reduce the amount of moisture in rooms. Since we are oceanfront and our property dates back many years, we do all we can to ensure the comfort of our guests, and the dehumidifiers have come to play a vital role in ensuring our guest's comfort. Thank you again for all of your kind remarks and attention to detail. We love hearing our guests enjoyed the amenities and special touches we strive to offer all of our guests. We hope to see you again in the near future. Warmly,
