A small place with good service. We liked the pool (although very small) and the complimentary tea and coffee you can have there. Our room was a bit off towards the street, but we kind of liked that cause we weren’t disturbed at all by the people having party in the pool one night. That was only one night and the rest of our stay it was calm and peaceful. The staff was helpful and service minded. I would have appreciated to be able to have breakfast at the place, but it’s still quite close to the restaurants on Duval Street.

We flew in from the UK and it was our first time in Key West. We were so happy that we found this hotel! The location is seconds from Duval street within an easy walk to the more lively end of the street. The pool area is SO tropical and relaxed and the rooms were very clean and modern. The staff couldn't have been more friendly and I recommend anyone to stay here and we will definitely be coming back. The only issue is that we don't want it to get TOO popular, otherwise we won't be able to stay at this amazing complex again!

Location was ideal being just off the quieter end of Duval and within easy walking distance of everything. Hotel has its own small car park so car never moved for our three days. Our room was smaller than expected but perfectly adequate and had the biggest shower we had ever seen. Bed however was awful. Seemed to be a memory foam type affair but had a thin bumpy foam topper which was horrible. Staff were lovely and helpful and showed us to the room. On the downside, the door to our room was just off the street rather than onto the pool which made us a bit uncomfortable - especially as dead bolt didn't work and gate to street didn't lock. It also meant that when getting coffee at pool you had to go out on the street and then round into hotel which was odd. Our main issue was the noise from the room above which spoiled our stay. The first and third nights it was 'just' noisy thumping about and moving furniture but it didn't go on late. The second night though we were woken up by REALLY loud music and crashing about. This went on until the early hours. There was no one onsite to help and we didn't want to phone the emergency lock out number. We booked this property after checking it didn't take groups and was not a 'party property' so this was really disappointing.

When booking our six night stay, we chose the Cuban Club, Room 1102F, which is deceivingly marketed as part of the Douglas House. The Cuban Club is across the parking lot from the Douglas House. The room had filthy furniture, a wobbly bed, no shade for extremely large bedroom window, the small private deck overlooked the parking lot, the railing going to the bedroom was sticky and the kitchen was far from being fully equipped. The doorway leading into the building was disgustingly dirty. We received nothing but condescending smiles from the management when complaints were brought to their attention. On the plus side, they fixed the cable TV for us. It took 3 days but, hey, who needs TV on vacation anyway. Highly disappointed! Not worth $300 a night!

We stayed in the Cuban Club building which fronts onto Duval St although our room was at the rear of the building. The apartment had recently been redecorated and was spotlessly clean. We had a full kitchen and nice sitting room at the lower level with a bedroom on the upper level with bathroom and small terrace and there was secure parking to the rear. Douglas House itself had a small pool area to the rear which served tea/coffee all day and offered wine for sale. On the days we went to the beach we were allowed to borrow towels and beach chairs from the pool area which helped with cost (the beach charges $30 a day to hire chairs and umbrella). The location on Duval St was perfect. A short walk from the beach at one end and Mallory Square at the other end. Although very busy, Douglas House was at the quiet end of Duval St so we were never disturbed by noise other than the local cockrall's!! The staff were very friendly and helpful and Key west itself is beautiful. We will be back!! One word of caution. Although it never bothered us the Cuban Rooms are not really suited to anyone who has a problem with stairs as there is no elevator.
