Welcome to the southernmost guest house in the United States. At our Key West guest house, we offer southernmost hospitality, and since the late 1800s, we’ve gone to great lengths to make stays here an absolute pleasure. In fact, in 1894, when Cuban cigar-maker Eduardo H. Gato realized the handsome, rambling Victorian home he had built was not getting the right sun exposure on his favorite porches, he moved the house across the street! He had the huge structure rolled across the street on logs pulled by mules and he rotated the house to create the most favorable mix of sun and shade.

We booked our 3-night stay in Key West at the last minute (after finding out we had been vaccinated months back against COVID) and were very fortunate to snag the last room at Southernmost Point (as it turned out this was top-range suite room, which was fabulous). We were welcomed and directed to free onsite parking. The Inn was serving its included breakfast at tables spread around its pretty gardens and the stay included a daily free drink at the garden bar; the outside spa pool (towels provided in room) was at a perfect bath temperature! COVID precautions were in place and respected (notably in the office and at breakfast service). Would stay here again in a heartbeat (although our visit probably already covered everything we would want to do in Key West).

My adult daughter stayed at this property last week. She was in the main house and her room was very clean, comfortable and had a nice view of the pool. The bathroom was well appointed and wasn't cramped at all. This property is just down from the buoy and offers free parking & a coin operated washer and dryer is available to guests which is really great. There is no free parking in KW so having a lot available for no additional cost is a big plus. The complimentary breakfast was very nice as well. With Covid still in play you would mark up your order on a form and pass it to an employee inside the lobby, take your room number and go find a table and they will bring it out to you. The only downside was she could hear everything from the street. This is an historic building so it isn't surprising and the stay was well worth it - loved it. I plan to go back myself! I was across the street at a different hotel.

There are many properties in this part of Key West with "southernmost" in their names, so be sure to get this guest house. It is in fact several buildings with a few rooms in each. ours was well-appointed and comfy, no complaints at all. Due to COVID, they supply breakfast by the guest filling out a form with items desired, and they deliver these to a table outside. It is a good system considering the situation. Also, they won't clean the room unless upon request. There is free paring, a big plus in a town where street parking is expensive if even available. The guest house is on the very southern end of Duval Street, so it is an easy walk of a half-mile or so to begin to reach the main drag of shops and restaurants. Be aware that at present (July 2020) all bars are closed, only places open are places that also serve food. I wonder how even some of the famous places like Sloppy Joe's can last without business. The butterfly conservatory next door is a must-see. Add in a good price and this is highly recommended as a place to stay.

This beautiful old guest house was a delight. Large rooms with period furniture, tables on the veranda to enjoy the breeze, and delicious hot breakfasts served contact-free. It’s on the quiet end of Duval Street a half block from the famous buoy marking the southernmost point and right by a small beach and next door to the Butterfly Conservatory. The free trolley can easily get you to the other end to Mallory Square where there’s more action. It was surprisingly affordable and just a great place to stay.

Part of the B&B experience is supposed to be the breakfast! I’ve never been to a B&B that did not have an excellent breakfast. Specialty items, made to order items, etc…This breakfast was nothing like that. The sausage links and waffles were both frozen, the OJ was from a gallon. The hash browns (that I’m assuming were previously frozen) were mushy and had a weird taste. I’ve truly had better continental breakfasts at Best Western. It was a very basic menu, not a made to order. This was so disappointing especially with the cost of about $380 per night. I wish I would have known this before booking because I would have chosen a different B&B.
The pool was very warm and not refreshing. Think bath water. There is no common room in the B&B. No real “host”.

The room and location were great! Very spacious and cold for the heat and humidity. It was quiet and the staff was friendly. We were given drink coupons for the bar on site. There is also a food truck that has some great snacks/lunch.

My friend and myself stayed at the Guest house for 3 nights from March 11th 2020 and what a lovely experience. Our room was so atmospheric with a very very comfy bed and furnished to a very high standard. Everything we could possibly want, a lovely garden to breakfast in, breakfast that was really varied ( only downside the coffee, not strong enough) The owners were very helpful and very pleasant. They are busy building a bar in the garden which will be such an asset when completed.
The guest house is a stones throw from the beach, a few really nice eating places and bars . Would love to return some day 🥰

This lovely hotel is really a terrific value and super reasonably priced compared to other KW hotels. And you get such a bang for your buck with lots of things like a free parking spot, a drink coupon per person per day at the nice bar on premises, free breakfast (stick to the waffles and bagels - the eggs and home fries were kind of nasty) which saves you $ and very reasonable on premises bicycle rentals ($15 per bike per day) which is a lot of fun to bike around KW. Did not use the hot tub but it’s there if you want to. The room was perfect with a super comfy king bed. Really liked this place a lot. Would definitely return.

Michael (owner), his son, and the rest of the staff are some of the nicest people we’ve met. It felt like we were being spoiled by our grandparents the entire time.

The pool is beautiful, the food truck run by Michael's son is very highly rated and surprisingly excellent, and even Angelica at the front desk will put a smile on your face.

I might inquire to see how much it would cost to rent a room full time ;)!

Enjoy your stay.

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights whilst on a 3 week tour of Florida. It was the most we paid for any of our accommodation, including luxurious 5* hotels! Obviously we had high expectations and I've never been more disappointed.
When we arrived there was an older lady in reception. She checked us in in a very gruff, disinterested way. I asked about the pool (our main reason for booking this specific guest house) and she said she show us when she took us to our room. We walked into the car park and she gestured to a gate leading to the pool. The gate had a sign on it and she said "I don't know what that says but just use the other gate around the side". She then pointed to a tatty building across the car park (that looks to be part of another house) and said that was our room. We walked in and were stunned.....and not in a good way! It was the tiniest room I've ever seen! We'd travelled with a medium and a small suitcase and had to repack what we might need into the small one, as there was no space for the medium suitcase and it had to be left in the car for our stay. Once we fiddled about with the bags, we got our swim stuff and headed for the pool. We found that the sign on the gate stated that the pool was closed. In fact the pool was completely empty. We returned to reception and asked the receptionist about it, but she knew nothing about it being closed or whether it would be open at all during our stay. We explained that it was the only reason we booked but she just shrugged and said it was probably storm damage. A bad storm had hit Key West 6 days before but we only booked 2 days before so if the pool was out of use, we should have been informed. Really, really poor customer service. We did look at moving hotels but by this point it was 6pm and getting too late.
The breakfasts were very poor quality with not a lot of choice. However, it was very pleasant sitting outside to eat early.
The other really weird thing was the height of the bed, which you actuallyhad to climb to get into. I'm 5ft10 and had to put my foot onto the bed frame to be able to get my leg up onto the bed and drag myself one. It was the height equivalent of 2 thick mattresses on top of each other. No idea why! The bathroom was nicely styled but exceptionally small. When sat on the toilet, the sink was right in your face.
We didn't eat at the food truck but the staff were lovely and the drinks were good quality.
All in all, a really poor experience with substandard customer service and extortionate prices.

Is there a hotel bar that you can buy drinks from in the day/evening? What time can you use the jacuzzi up to?
Answer from SMPGH
We do not have a bar on property however we do serve complimentary wine and sangria from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. There is also a liquor store a block away from us. As for the jacuzzi, we don't really have a time that you can't use it, however there are rooms near the jacuzzi so we just ask our guests to take that into consideration and to be quite and respectful of the other guests.
