With some recent negative reviews, I felt compelled to write a positive response. We just spent a week at the Hyatt Sunset Harbor and enjoyed every minute of it. Beware, this is a timeshare condominium unit comprised of (from what I could tell,) efficiency, one, and two bedroom units. I would only recommend staying in a two bedroom unit. Our unit was extremely clean, well laid out, wonderful views, and comfortable furniture and beds. The two bedroom units came in a "lock off" unit where a one bedroom is connected to an efficiency. If you stay in a "one bedroom" you have a door separating you from the separate efficiency unit. The other two bedroom units are "townhouses" with a master up and a separate, but connected, guest room below. You also have two full bathrooms along with two large decks (though you are very close to our neighbors - so thankfully we met and liked ours.) We had a full kitchen: Full size fridge, four burner stove and oven, all utensils, and 6 settings. Air conditioning and wi-fi worked great for us. The pool was heated and the hot tub was hot. Pool towels were available so you dont have to use your unit towels. Get there early as some people claim spots (reserve) with their towels despite signs prohibiting it. There is no room service and no onsite bar or restaurant. Location was fantastic. Walk out the back gate and onto the waterfront steps to Mallory Sq. Numerous tourist locations within a stone's throw, though just far enough away to avoid crowds and noise of Duval. YOU ARE IN THE EYW LANDING FLIGHT PATH. As an aviation geek myself, we did not mind this. Most flights have arrived by 9PM though some delays came in later, Nothing overnight, and nothing too early. You are also next to the cruise ship dock. We had three ships dock in seven days Ships must depart by sunset. The concierge inquired if she could assist with anything one time and didnt bother us again.…
ROSA at the front desk was absolutely amazing. She was kind and helpful and would always make sure we were having a good time. KATHY was incredibly kind and amazing. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience was undesirable. • The bathroom shower curtains were stained. • The room looked old. Renovate the tile and carpet flooring. TVs were small. • The number of amenities for a Hyatt are disgraceful. • No room service. • No gym • No cleaning service even upon request The location is right next to where the cruise ships dock. The boat people are loud and obnoxious and ruin the experience. We were pressured into going to a 90 minute timeshare presentation. I would never buy something here based on the accommodations of our room. If they’re trying to sell a spot in the Hyatt club…they sorely missed the mark. In addition to being pressured into the 90 minute presentation, the concierges called me at least a half dozen times in two days about the presentation. I had already explained that I would be going and confirmed my appointment time and yet would still receive phone calls about it. It was aggressive and annoying and detracted from the trip. The WiFi was atrocious. They were doing some upgrade ON THE WEEK OF THANKSGIVING. Absolutely absurd. We had perfect connection everywhere on the island EXCEPT in our “resort”. The best part about staying here was Rosa and Kathy’s kindness and the fact that housekeeping was EXCEPTIONALLY responsive with requests for new towels. Do not stay here. …
stay somewhere else trust me you will enjoy it much more, giant cruise ships block your view everyday until sunset .they drop off thousands of people at your door step none of which is shown in the brochure.rooms are tiny.
Stayed here for 4 nights. We had a family of 4 with two teens. We really enjoyed the place and would highly recommend it. Here’s what we liked: - Well equipped kitchen - A/C that worked really well and adjusted in 0.5 degree increments - Comfortable sofa bed - Situated in a perfect area within walking distance to Mallory Square and other attractions - Pool is nice and cool and clean (refreshing on these HOT days) - Friendly staff and immediate service (if you ask for extra towels they are delivered immediately) - Free laundry access on each floor Things we didn’t like: - house keeping missed cleaning the dining table. When we arrived there was crumbs still on the table - Sound travels easily through the bedroom windows. People coming home late at night woke us up walking by. Also the trucks in the morning with the back up sounds. We would definitely stay here again in the future. The value for money in this area is excellent.…
This is terrible.. they sell you a studio room and they do not have pictures.. this is the most depressing room I have stayed ever.. DO NOT SELL A ROOM IF YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO SHOW THE ROOM.. Never recommend this hotel again
Booking was made through Expedia but hotel couldn't find the booking on their system so check in took an hour which was frustrating after a 4 hour drive. The suite was was very spacious and had 2 bathrooms, a lovely lounge area, kitchen with cooking facilities, washing machine and dryer. Verandah had mesh on to keep pests off. We were on the top floor and had a lovely view of the pool and the sea. We were only staying 1 night and had no further contact with hotel staff.
I’m reading all of these reviews thinking, am I at the same hotel?!?First of all, they have the audacity to sell me a studio (and by that I mean 100sq feet if I’m lucky) for $369 a night. I have NEVER had a hotel room EVER that was so small. It should be $100 a night and even that seems steep for how pathetically small the rooms is. I get that it comes as a bonus with the bigger units, just don’t charge people that much for so little!
Stayed for the first time this month. Was a little apprehensive after reading some of the reviews about noise and the unit itself. Property is smaller (40 units, I think) and located on the marina close to Duval/Front streets. We found the noise from the bars to be minimal. There are a few planes that come over your head depending on which way they are landing that day, but did not bother us. Its not like EYW is ORD or DFW. Unit was good size (1 bedroom) with odd proportions. Bedroom was smaller, bathroom was smaller (good shower though) and kitchen/living area was larger. Deck was good sized with 4 chairs. We spent most of the time on the deck. Would not hesitate staying again due to location. It is pricey, but so is everything in the area.
I wish I read about this place before I booked! The review from Chris L is SPOT ON! Honestly, a fantastic location in Key West! and It is a beautiful property. Then came the noise! Between the trash truck every morning sometimes around 6 am, before sunrise and roosters! All the trucks unloading, you will start your day early! The staff was excellent! They do everything to make your stay enjoyable and they have no control over the noise. The pool is fantastic and the guests are friendly. Some will run out every morning to save their spot at the pool, so when the truck comes, go out and get your spot!, The lockoff room is small and depressing! it is manageable but it is just a room. so lower your expectations. Very clean but everything needs updating! We enjoyed our time in Key West, but came home exhausted!…
Staying here as I write this, the first week of November, 2021. We had timeshare points to burn or we’d lose them so we booked a 2 bedroom (which consists of a 1 bedroom full kitchen suite, combined with a “lock off” studio) even though we really only needed accommodations for one couple. I am so glad we did! The 1 bed unit has only a queen bed and a tiny bathroom. While the studio does have a king and a large “master bath” with soaking tub, the unit is small, cramped and depressingly dark. Alone, the 1 bed or the studio would be either underwhelming or unacceptable (not to mention we’d be sharing with strangers an internal connecting door that basically adjoins the two bedrooms). Combined however, they create a perfectly nice 2 bedroom suite. Now that we’ve experienced the layout, it’s the only way I’d stay again. The location can not be beat. Steps to Malory Square, Duval, and all of key west’s most popular points of interest. Ample parking in the garage next door. Pool area is nice, overlooking the ocean, with clean grills. The units are well equipped with the basics (though there is only 4 of everything, so we ran the dishwasher every other day). This is the loudest place I have ever stayed, and not in a perpetual party sort of way. We were awoken every morning at 7am by a Gabage truck emptying the property’s dumpsters. You can hear other guests’ walking and talking all around you, through all 4 walls, and through the ceiling and floor. Sunset Harbour is directly on the flight path of landing planes. We haven’t had a full night’s sleep in 7 days, even after we started taking sleeping pills half way through our stay. The view is great, but tranquil it is not. Finally, while the basic amenities are all accounted for, there are some missing features we’ve enjoyed at other properties. You won’t find in room laundry, a pool bar or refreshed furnishings here. The property is showing its age, which likely matters little to Hyatt because it’s got the three most important attributes… location, location, location.…
