If you're looking for brand new, "cookie cutter", sterile, "resort-type" rooms, this ain't it. But if you're looking for somewhere affordable (for Key West), comfortable, walking distance to everything on that end of the island, and great customer service surrounded by people from literally all over the world---here ya go. It's an old hotel with small but serviceable rooms. The... More

We had room #1, which was right by the gate. Super noisy after 9:00 as the gate shuts and you have to use your key card to enter. That's fine and dandy and I appreciate that, but there needs to be a soft closer or something to guard against the constant abrupt banging during the night. People came and went... More

Let me start by saying this is not my first stay in a hostel. My husband and I booked 2 beds in the coed dorm because the price was so much more affordable than elsewhere in Key West and we were only going to be in the room for 8 hours (literally just to sleep). First, when we arrived it... More

First off.. I have to say I was not thrilled to reserve a hostel.. I have never used one before. But it was the cheapest place in town.. You still have everything you need.. You just share it... There are male, female, and coed. Even though I was alone on this trip, I still got a coed... And my thinking... More

I stayed in two different rooms, one women's and the other co-ed. Staff was nice and friendly. If the toilet is busy, just ask the front desk for the employee bathroom key if you really have to go. The first room I stayed in was not as good as the second. The bathroom floor was all wet, tp evrywhere, with... More

We were in Key West for the half marathon so rooms were very hard to come by. We had low expectations for the Seashell. We had a private room with 2 queen beds and a private bathroom-for around $300 a night. Cons: The room was very basic and a bit run down. The one bed was very comfortable but the... More

Pros: The hostel was clean and in what felt like a save location in walking distance to all the attractions of Key West. Cons: We stayed in a 10 or 12 bed female dorm thatwas devided into 2 rooms, which was nice. But there was only one bathroom (with shower and toilet in one room) for everyone. The bunk beds... More

We only stayed for one night at this establishment, and we more or less knew what to expect, so in principle we had no real basis for complaint; but when there was no hot water in the morning, and after the hotel personnel did not really seem to be bothered by it or try to help, we felt it was... On the spur of the moment, my friend and I decided to head to Key West during Christmas week. I searched, prices were outrageous everywhere and also there were no vacancies - until I found the Sea Shell Motel. It was cute and friendly and quiet and had all the amenities and information we needed. Everything worked and was clean.... More

This was the most expensive hostel I have ever stayed in, paying $59 for a bunk in a 10 bed dorm. It's also one of the worst. The room was motel style with the door opening onto the sidewalk. My allocated bed had a noisy fan above it, and was a high top bunk with no ladder, you have to... More
