The Galleon Resort and Marina is celebrated for its stunning views and spacious rooms, although some guests feel the furniture could use updating and amenities are lacking. While the atmosphere draws ambivalent reactions due to dated decor and vibrant music, the live entertainment and clean, well-equipped spaces are appreciated. Cleanliness generally meets expectations, but opinions on housekeeping vary. The Tiki Bar and marina access are standout features, alongside the hotel's excellent location, which offers proximity to attractions and picturesque sunset views. Service is friendly but sometimes inconsistent, leaving guests divided on the hotel's overall value.

We have been vacationing at The Galleon for a week every year for the past 32 years. It is in a prime location & never disappoints! The rooms are spotless, but the mattresses, tile in the 2nd bathroom shower, & furniture could use an update. Otherwise, the rooms are perfect. The staff works really hard keeping this piece of paradise in great condition.
The only serious criticism I have is that the employees are STILL required to wear masks, even though the Fabulous Governor of Florida has lifted that restriction!!!
I felt sorry for the staff having to wear the masks inside as well as outside. So detrimental to their health!

We stayed in the room containing 2 BD (one king, one queen), 2BA with a loft with two single beds. The view of the harbor from the master bedroom was beautiful. The dame balcony stretches to include doors off of the living area. The kitchenette with dishwasher, microwave and full sized refrigerator was great. There was also a stacked washer/dryer also in the kitchenette. The AC was a welcome relief from the summer weather in the Keys. Location was fantastic. The amenities such as the pool and tiki hut which served drinks were also very good. The "beach area" is very small and had lots of seaweed that you had to walk through before reaching the ocean. That should probably get raked or removed. Restaurants are all close by. The conch train which brings you to all locations on the Keys was a short walk away. The room itself was a little outdated but that was ok. However the electrical system for all the lights and TV in the bedroom was constantly shorting and the breaker needed to be reset often. It took a couple of visits to the front lobby before a manager came to look at it. He fixed it once but the problem reoccurred during our short 4 day visit. Other than that, the staff was great and I would recommend staying there.

We love our timeshare at the Galleon Resort. We go every year! This year was a bit different amid the COVID pandemic but the Galleon rose to the occasion brilliantly. Every thing ran so smoothly you didn't get the impression anything was amiss. We intend to vacation again next year for more relaxation and fun.

While visiting the marina in our boat we opted to stay at the resort for the larger accommodations. I booked the stay direct with the resort after reviewing their website. The resort units themselves are OK but are looking tired and need a facelift. Linens, furnishings, kitchen items are fair. However when housekeeping didn’t show up after the first day I called and was told that “timeshare” units don’t receive any regular housekeeping services. No one ever said this was a timeshare or made any distinction when I made the reservation with the resort. Also, we had to change units due to schedule issues (understood in advance) and I called the front desk for bellman assistance with the move and was told they do not have any bellman or anyone to assist with luggage. The general response both in person and by phone when interacting with the front desk staff is you are interrupting their day.

The marina is under separate management and is fantastic. Outstanding facilities and staff who understands how to deliver exceptional service.

There are several superior lodging alternatives close by that will provide a better guest experience and accommodations.

We rented this unit from a friend who has a time share there. It was fairly priced. My wife has stage 4 cancer and this was an opportunity to take her and her two sisters (neither of whom had been there) to a city we enjoy. The Galleon has a fabulous location and is well laid out. Problems we had (a faulty deadbolt on the entry, a frypan whose handle was ready to fall off, and a toilet seat that broke in half) were promptly taken care of. Our overall impression is that the property is in need of renovation. The living room furniture is dated and the cushions were worn and had little to no support. The guest bedroom had lights above the twin beds that were so close to the beds that those using them had to be careful not to bump their heads. There was a plug outlet placed above the door; what was that all about? The toilets were all dated and should be replace with "comfort height" toilets.

I came down for a wedding with my husband and daughter, brother, mom and granny (who is 88). The location is fantastic by the marina and some great restaurants. Room was older but clean, needed new mattresses but we’ve stayed in worse. Upon arriving the front desk was extremely unhelpful in telling us which building was ours. They also said they all connected, which they don’t. Which bringing a 3 year old and 88 yr old with all the luggage all the way up and then To come back down and move buildings was a nightmare. They also only allow one car. Were extremely rude when asked, especially since we needed a handicap spot and there were 8 available. We even offered to pay. The men managing the parking lot wouldn’t even let us bring the car up to load my grandmother in, we basically had to tell them, yes we were and just drove when we were trying to check out. When asking the pol guy about pool towels, he became argumentative right away about policies. Even other guests said “don’t even bother asking, just use a dirty one.” We ran into one of the managers and he agreed that the staff was very rude....Needless to say, we won’t be coming to stay there ever again.

The Galleon has everything for a perfect adventure in Key West. With its Old Town location, you are in easy walking distance to all the major locations if you go one way: and all the fun of the Marina if you go the other.

The rooms are comfortable and well maintained. The balconies are large. The pool is wonderful or you can enjoy sand and a Gulf Beach. The Tiki Hut is great for adult beverages in paradise.

Their best asset is friendly and efficient staff. Points also awarded for high safety standards during the pandemic.

New to me: the Duval Loop Bus: pick-up only two blocks away & air conditioned comfort to 18 useful stops on the island. We didn't use our car at all.

I always stay at the Galleon Resort several times a year when I'm in Key West. The location near Mallory Square and Duval Street is fantastic as, no car is required for visiting the shops and establishments on and around Duval Street. The resort is well maintained with friendly staff. The Galleon has a large swimming pool. Tiki Bar and on-site casual restaurant. I would recommend Galleon Resort for families and anyone planning a visit to Key West.

If I could give zero stars I would!!!
We had booked our stay almost a year in advance. We had to cancel our August stay due to the COVID pandemic.
When we called the hotel to cancel, they told us we needed to contact the site we used for booking.
We assumed that we would be refunded fully as the other hotels we booked in the Keys did do, with no problems.
The booking site contacted the hotel and were advised it was not their policy to refund. Due to the extraordinary circumstances you would think they would be flexible.
What’s even worse is that we are still waiting for a partial refund of less than $50.00 and it’s been over a month!!
Avoid this place like the plague as they are all about the money and have lost us, our family and friends as potential clients in the future.
I guess it’s buyer beware with this place.....

I’ve been coming here for about 30 years since my parents and grandparents are owners. Unfortunately on this last trip $400 was taken out of my room on cleaning day. I went to the front desk and the resort manager Toby said he would check the key card entries for the day and speak with house keeping to “get to the bottom of this” since “nothing like this has EVER happened”. A few hours later he called me and let me know after checking the key card entry NO ONE had been in my unit that day. Interesting since all the linens and towels were changed And the trash taken out. He seemed very unconcerned that no key card entries were showing but I had my cash missing and clearly someone had serviced my unit that day. Again, he assured me this has NEVER happened before and the housekeeping person servicing my building had worked there a long time and was very trust worthy...ok sure Toby. I called the KWPD and without the key card entry showing who entered my room and no camera they couldn’t help me either. I was left with the manager saying he would talk to his superior and would get back to me. I ended up leaving a night early because I felt unsafe employees were basically able to enter my room without any record of it and have yet to heard from the manager Toby again regarding a solution.
