Pier House Resort & Spa boasts a prime location that many guests appreciate for its accessibility to nearby attractions and dining options. The resort's private beach and cleanliness receive positive mentions, with travelers enjoying the well-maintained grounds and rooms. However, some guests find the room decor outdated and the ambiance lacking in vibrancy.
While the service generally garners praise for staff friendliness, there are reported inconsistencies. Critiques also touch on the value, with visitors feeling that the experience does not justify the high costs, particularly noting overpriced drinks and amenities.

We stayed at The Pier House Resort for our 25th wedding anniversary. It is always tough when trying to choose the right place for a vacation. Especially, when there are plenty of options. However, after staying here for 5 nights, we could not have chosen a better place. The location is ideal for restaurants, shopping, and any kind of entertainment. Having a small beach area with chair and drink service was a major positive. There was live music there everyday and a very relaxing atmosphere. A perfect place to recover after a night of partying on Duval Street. We stayed in a suite that had a balcony overlooking the water. Highly recommend. It was clean and all of the staff were friendly. Special shout out to Lee at the concierge desk who helped us book a sunset cruise. When we come back, we will definitely stay here again.

We stayed at the Pier House from July 2-7, 2020. Upon our arrival we were given a room with a malfunctioning air conditioner. When we complained, we were shown to a comparable room which stunk like cigarettes. We voiced our concerns again and were upgraded from a Lanai Room to a Spa Junior Suite. Thankfully, the A/C worked very well.
The property is well manicured and clean for the most part. We did not visit the pool while we were there as we are beach people. The beach is small and clean. The staff kept the lounge chairs clean and accessible for guests throughout the day. We were told that bar service was available by the beach; however, we never saw/were approached any wait staff while we were there. We ate breakfast at One Duval three times and lunch on one occasion. The food and service were good at all times. Social distancing was practiced at all times. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, room service and the shuttle service were not available. On the 4th day of our stay I called the front desk to ensure that someone would come to service the room, and they did. On the other days, I had to call to request towels, water and coffee, which were all included in the resort fee. As all of the amenities were not available, I felt like the resort fee should have been reduced by at least half; however, it was not. The Spa reopened during our stay, however, we did not utilize the spa.
Over the weekend, we noticed that some of our neighbors dropped some food in the hallway in the spa building. It was not cleaned up for several days, which was disgusting.
I was disappointed with the governor's closing of the bars and beaches just prior to our visit- but none of those things are the hotel's fault, thus I rated the hotel 5 stars and would stay again on our next visit to Key West.

Absolutely loved our stay here in our Caribbean facing balcony room during our first visit to key west, our little private beach with floating chairs, the immaculate room which by the way was kept very cool with air conditioning, also great shower. The One Duval restaurant is where we had breakfast and coffee every morning, the eggs Benedict were delicious. Because of COVID there is no room service for it to be delivered to the room (my only complaint) also due to COVID the rooms are only cleaned every three days, but linens and towels are brought to you as requested. We observed the other hotels during an exploration but did not see any others that captured the since of serenity and offered the quality of location as this establishment did. I must say after enjoying palm beach, Jupiter and Juno beach, Key West is quite underwhelming.

Our family gave us a 2 night stay in Key West for our anniversary. They chose the Pier House Resort. Let's first say that the prices they charge are comparable to all the resorts there. Our room cost $750 a night plus a resort fee of $50 a day. The room was a standard size hotel room, with standard appoints like king bed, a walk in shower and the usual toiletries plus and iron and a refrigerator, The TV was large but had no premium channels. Our room was on the first floor and had a small patio. The problem is it had not privacy like plants or trees and was situated in a location that was on the way to the pool, beach bar. Guest were coming through at all ours and with the room surrounded by brick walls, all sounds were amplified, Since this was on Memorial Day their were still quite a lot of guest at the resort. The one good thing thought was that the Bar just outside the patio was closed for the day, less it really would have been loud. N Main Dining room restaurant was closed also. They were closed on Monday and Tuesday. The resort fee was for the privilege's of using the pool, spa, exercise facilities and so called beach. This hotel is not directly on the ocean but more a lagoon. Bottom line, the resort was a good location for walking everywhere but not worth the price paid.

My husband and I returned yesterday from a 5 night 20th Wedding Anniversary trip that we planned over six months ago. We were aware that the Keys had just opened a couple of weeks before we got there. From what I had read on line through FB and other message boards I knew we would be required to wear masks in restaurants and bars. I was not aware that the spa, gym and bar at the hotel were closed. The restaurant had limited hours and menu and you had to be off the beach and out of the pool area by 7pm.
We were in a Suite and after 3 days I went to the check in desk and asked for our suite to be cleaned, fresh towels and the trash to be emptied. The woman looked up my name and said since it's been 3 nights that she would send someone. The room was very dusty and the floor appeared to not have been properly cleaned in a long time! My socks were black from walking on them.
I personally feel it's ridiculous to charge the $46 per day "resort fee" when the hotel isn't fully operational. We loved the location and definitely will be back to Key West but will most likely stay at another property. I noted on our reservation that we were celebrating our 20th Wedding Anniversary and nothing was mentioned. No big deal but a "Happy Anniversary" at check in would have been nice.

Good Afternoon Wanda, Thank you for taking the time to fill out the Pier House Review on Trip Advisor. Our gym is a small gym and due to the social distancing we could not have it open. And the same for the Chart Room Bar. They will remain closed until we are in the proper phase. The rooms are being cleaned after the 3rd day to keep you safe. This is recommended by the CDC to all Hotels and Resorts in the US. We hope to see you in the future.

We spent 3 nights in a traditional room on the ground floor. It was a 'baecation' long weekend without the kids and with another couple who stayed in a different room.
The Good (and it was great, don't get me wrong): We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Key West and hanging out at the hotel beach and bar. Nic was our go-to server at the bar, and he was a good time. We very much enjoyed laying on the beach and watching the boats go by.
The Bad: We tried to use the concierge, but she was Googling things and seemed to know as much as me. Our ground floor room was a terrible location, and we could hear all the people talking and walking by our room all night. Every morning before the sun came up, someone across the walkway would turn on a vacuum or something. I understand that $700+ a night is a value for being on the coast of Key West, but at least getting a decent night sleep would be nice.

Thank you for taking the time to do a review on Tripadvisor. Did you contact the front desk regarding the location of your room? They may have been able to move you in a different area. We always appreciate guest feedback and will make sure to speak to housekeeping regarding your issue with the vacuuming early in the morning.

Minimal housekeeping service, using Covid as excuse. Spa closed. Bar closed. Yet rates were not adjusted. Hotel charges an additional $46 per day as resort fee yet nothing was open to use except for the pool and beach , which closed at 6. The pool host was outstanding which was THE positive at this facility. There were no clean chair covers or towels one day so I approached the table area to request covers and the female in table area yelled at me not to come into the area without a mask. I was probably 20 feet away, much more than the requested 6 ft social distancing for an outdoor area. Old blood found on linens twice. Also found pill in bed that had been washed and dried in laundry. Rates reduced for our stay so we requested adjustment and was refused it. We requested to speak to Gen Mgr and was told he isn't answering his phone. We requested him to call us and still have not heard from him.

Thank you for taking the time to fill out a survey. Your concerns would have been addressed if you had not brought them to the attention of management at check out. When you first came to the desk to check out you asked for a reduction in rate because of less services. The front office explained to you at check in of all services. Then you came back 30 minutes later about the blood on your sheets. We have tried to call you but your voice mail is full and we were not able to leave a message. Joe

We traveled there in February and found the resort to be in a great location and convenient to downtown and the waterfront. The grounds were well maintained and beautiful. Our room was clean and well stocked but given the seriously high priced of $650 per night plus resort fee and taxes. For the price we had a garden view nothing special and we entered our room from a parking lot outside the hotel.
We did like having access to the "beach", but found the sea grass was not cleaned up on the edge and service was spotty for food and drinks. We had one server the entire time that was great, but others clearly did not care. Again, for the price you expect a different level of service.
Selecting a room -
It would be difficult to say outside of maybe waterfront as all others you roll the dice on location and how noisy or not it is outside of your room OR if your room is exposed if you are on a first floor.
Given I have travel a lot and stayed at everything from a one star to five I kept asking would I return, would I recommend and the answer is no. So many options on the island and I thing next time I would pick a different.

Lucy thank you for the survey and I am glad that you enjoyed your time at the resort. For rates, I encourage my guest to call my in house reservations team. They can review all of our different room types and price points to find something within your price range. Key West is a very busy market and this is peak season and the rates will reflect that through out the island. Regards, Joe

We have stayed at the Pier House our last trip to Key West and were disappointed this time with some of the services. The shower door in our room did not seal and left a huge puddle on the floor every time we used it. Had to keep a large towel there to soak it up. And the "large" bath towels are not really large enough to wrap around an average size adult. The card reader on our room door kept falling off onto the floor and had to be snapped back on multiple times. Nick, our waiter at the beach one day was very inattentive and never did return with a menu when we asked him for one. His loss, less tip. We ate breakfast at One Duval on our last morning there and was also disappointed in the service there as well. Two of the orders were incorrect (no ham in my omelet, sausage was in, not on the side for another). We also asked for side plates that were never brought. In our room, a coffee stir was left on the night stand for two days in a row. Lastly, we used the shuttle service one day to take us to the Truman House and was told we could get it to return back on Duval St every 30 minutes. We began walking in that direction hoping to catch it and were only a block away when it finally came. The driver said he was delayed. When we complained to the front desk we were asked "why didn't you call a cab?". My husband spoke to the manager who said she would look into and took his cell # saying she would be in touch. We never did hear from anyone. Don't get me wrong, we love the Pier House, just felt that the service left alot to be desired this trip.

Our family enjoyed our stay here. While it’s not the type of “luxury” we expect from a place that is noted as a luxury resort, it was clean, nice, and had great staff and food (and it is very nice for Key West). Marcel and Georges were kind and attentive by the pool and beach. We were also pleasantly surprised that we were able to check-in at 10:00 am! Hand sanitizer was readily available, things were cleaned well, and most people wore masks when in proximity to other people (the staff always wore a mask). We had a great room on the ground floor, but would have like to have had a key card entrance on our back patio door because we had easy access to the pool and beach from our room’s back door. Since we didn’t have a large family Thanksgiving this year, Key West was the next best thing!

Hi, Elizabeth. I’ve only stayed at Pier House. I like rooms 201, 301, 401. Water front. It has a small beach that is maintained all day long by staff setting up chairs/umbrellas/side tables. There is a beach bar for casual dining and cold drinks. Staff also services the beach for food and drink. It also has a pool that is serviced by staff. It’s within walking distance to every we like. There is another restaurant (One Duval) at the resort that is very good, also.
Good luck and enjoy Key West!
