Parrot Key Hotel & Villas is celebrated for its vibrant atmosphere and modern, comfortable rooms, although it's not without its critics who mention occasional cleanliness and maintenance issues. The hotel's location is appreciated for its proximity to attractions, but some guests find it less convenient than expected. Service quality varies, with both commendable and disappointing encounters reported. While the amenities, including multiple pools and a shuttle service, are a hit with families, the mandatory valet parking and resort fees have left some questioning the overall value.

What a great place to stay while on our family vacation. We had an entire villa - a separate unit on the bottom floor w/ (2) queen beds, micro, fridge, shower, & the separte 2-story unit that we shared an entrance hall with. Middle floor had a br w/ a king bed & bathroom w/ soaking tub & separate shower, top floor had a br w/ (2) twin beds & a shower bathroom; a 'common family room' was also in the middle floor w/ fridge, micro, & sofas. TV's in every bedroom + family room.

The resort is @ the north end of Key West, & altho there is a free shuttle, it was not convenient for our party of (6) to coordinate with it - ubers were quick, plentiful & reasonably priced. We dropped our rental cars off (2) days early wh/ more than covered the uber expenses. We preferred being out of the crazy & having a shopping center across the street - grocery store, Dennys, Pizza, Mexican - sometimes you just want somewhere inexpensive to regroup & plan.

The resort staff was very friendly & responsive. Check-in was easy, as was checkout.
No problem holding bags security before or after. The beds were super comfy, there were ample fluffy towels (+ pool towels), and the beds were super comfy. The toiletries are L'Occitane & were luxurious.

The highlight of the resort - agreed by all - are the (4) heated saltwater pools, including one that is Adults Only (wait staff at the pools.) After running thru heat & sticky & crowds in Downtown KW during the day, what a way to relax before gearing up to go back down & do more!

Thank you so much for this wonderful and detailed review! We’re thrilled to hear that your family vacation was such a success and that our villa and resort amenities provided the perfect setting for your stay. It’s fantastic to know you enjoyed the spaciousness of the villa, as well as the convenience of the nearby shopping center for quick meals and essentials. We’re also glad to hear the shuttle, Uber rides, and our location at the north end of Key West worked well for you, offering a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of downtown. It’s great to hear that the staff made your experience easy and enjoyable, and that the beds, towels, and L'Occitane toiletries added to your comfort. And of course, we’re thrilled that the heated saltwater pools, including the adults-only option, were the highlight of your stay! We agree – there’s no better way to unwind after a busy day. We truly appreciate your kind words and are so happy to have been part of your family vacation. We hope to welcome you back for another relaxing stay next time you’re in Key West!

Nice hotel with tropical ambiance. One night stay is not recommended as resort fee $50/night is too much on top of room rates $650. Didn't get to use the shuttles, and didn't see a beach. And valet parking is crazy during busy season. However, food at the restaurant was good, and the room was small, but comfortable. I would book again, but probably not during busy season.

Dear Parrot Key Guest, Thank you for taking the time to post a TripAdvisor review. Thank you very much for a 5 rating - what kind words! We so appreciate your time and having had the chance to host you during your visit to Key West. Yes, one day is not long enough. A week still won't see much of the resort or island. 1. The mandatory "Valet charge" is in effect a parking charge, $23 per day, no value added. There is EV charging for another additional fee (surely this should be included in the b/s valet charge)!!
2. The food offering is average and fairly expensive even by SE FL standards. Ie. $7 espressos
3. Non water or ocean view rooms will either be between the parking area and the pools (reasonable units 57-74) or the freeway and the back restaurant (terrible - noise and other reasons)
4. Water view rooms from unit 16 - 30 are directly opposite the pools (between the canal and the pools) (units 31-34) have better side ocean views but are a few extra steps to the pools. I reckon unit 28-34 are optimal in this range.
5. All units consist of a front door shared between an A (1 bed) and a B (2 bed + "kitchenette" excl cutlery and crockery). If you rent a 3 bed villa, you get the A+B unit.
6. Internal steps are very steep
7. Pool music can be loud at times
8. Restaurant food is very average, imagine over warmed frozen pizza, basic burgers and replated overnight oats. It was ok to fill a gap but this isn't your special night out.
9. Staff were professional, proficient and approachable.
10. Pools ran out of towns in the afternoons and by 10am drinking water (with fruit) around the pools had not been emptied from the night before or replenished (when it was done it was done without any cleaning....)
11. Water saving showerheads are disappointingly efficient..... And water takes forever to heat up negating any savings...
12. Rooms were generally well maintained with few of any paint marks. Carpets and showers needed cleaning and cutting and replacement the drain covers and
13. Stayed July '24 / unit 23A&B / $600 p.n. I think decent value as we were a family needing 3 bedrooms ideally. Key West is expensive..

We were very disappointed with our stay at this hotel. The issues began right at check-in: our room was not ready, and we had to wait 45 minutes in the lobby—without any offer of drinks or compensation for the delay. The receptionist, Ashley, made us feel unwelcome with her unfriendly and occasionally rude attitude. This level of unprofessionalism left a very poor impression on us right from the start.
When the room was finally ready, we had to carry our heavy suitcases up to the first floor ourselves, as no assistance was offered. During our stay, there was no housekeeping service, and when we raised this, the only “compensation” offered was the removal of the “water fee”—a charge that was invalid to begin with and thus hardly an actual form of compensation.
The so called "minibar" acts like some sort of a bugged device see pictures, never seen this before in any hotel...
The only positive aspect of our stay was the valet parking team, who were friendly, helpful, and quick. Unlike the reception staff, they made us feel well taken care of. Ultimately, we were simply relieved to leave the hotel.

Honestly, our only regret is not spending more time using the amenities. It was constantly quiet, regularly timed shuttles available, bike racks for rentals. Some might hate that it's located across from a major shopping center but with the style of the rooms it's very convenient to have Winn-Dixie right there.

Discovered the hammocks on the last day and regretted not taking more naps by the chanel in them.

Morning staff is kind and knowledgeable, evening staff probably rocks too but we didn't interact with them. Grounds team does a phenomenal job cleaning up from the wind and storms each night.

Resident cat is a sweetie.

Meals are a bit pricey, but so is most things in key West. If you want to save on 90$ for 2 people for breakfast, hit the Denny's across the street.

The hotel is very beautiful, the place pleasant but... the service is not up to the standard of a hotel of this standard!
And for good reason, we left our room at 8:30 this morning taking care to indicate that it could be made, but unfortunately when we returned at 4pm the room was still not made! We asked the maid who was doing the one downstairs what it was and she said it was well planned... yes but when? Because at 5pm no one had yet shown up!!! My husband went to the reception to reiterate his request (which we shouldn’t even have to do), the person on the spot apologized flatly and asked a maid to come forward right away. Unfortunately 20 minutes later still no maid... it’s almost 5:30pm, the suite rooms are not made, the towels have not been changed and we are waiting... still!!! So we can’t even go and wash, having no more clean towels and especially not knowing when the staff will show up!
A shame, if that’s what luxury is, we’re very far from it!!!

Perfect stay in king room, pod coffee machine, quality hair & shower products; I appreciated the double keyed entry. If you have an accessibility issue I would call to make your reservation so you can have one of the rooms able to access a lift. The adult pool has a book nook, fruit flavored water, sunscreen available, lounge chair fitted towel cover & pool towels. Grounds immaculate. Shuttle transports every 2 hours to beach & old town, stops by 4:30 so I used Conch connect/freebie app $2 ride in a tesla. 2nd time to KW so stayed in new town location. Directly across the street Winn Dixie, fabulous El Rinconcito Mexican, El Habanero Cuban (b,l) , Thai, 5guys, dominos, dennys. Next door is Walgreens. The waterfront is not accessible just viewing. Obstructed view with land to see the Gulf of Mexico. I had a parking lot view & grounds view balcony. Brought a daiquiri back to the room, very good. This is a great choice amongst all the new town hotel options.

This resort is located 10 minutes by car from Key West Old Town, and it offers beautiful views from certain rooms. It has four small pools (two for adults, two for kids), a small restaurant, and comfortable beds. All parking is mandatory valet ($23 a day) and you'll wait for your car at peak times. The resort also charges you an additional $48 a day for resort fees to pay for wifi, pool... on top of already expensive rooms. When you arrive, there is no one to help with luggage and there are two luggage carts for the entire "resort." The personnel were friendly but could use some training. Our first room had ants all over one bed, and when the front desk swapped our room, they said to come by and pick up the new key, without offering us help with luggage or to bring the key to the room. Our new room had a broken lamp and water pressure issues. For what we paid per night, including valet and resort fees, I would expect more.

I really wanted this resort to be amazing and give it 5 stars. It has a lot of positives and it has a lot of potential, unfortunately it's just not there. For us, the downfalls were the cleanliness of our villa (wet carpet with a box fan running in the main area when we checked in with no warning, no robes (although other rooms had them), paint chips all over the carpets, dirty cleaning towel left in our bathtub from previous cleaning), lack of daily housekeeping (had to call multiple times for towels which only came many hours after we needed them), lack of ongoing service by the pools (wet dirty towels and dishes and cups everywhere and left out all day long with no service staff picking things up and maintaining the general pool areas), and front desk staff not clearly communicating with concierge (we rented a golf cart through the concierge and were told we would NOT be charged a $25/day valet parking fee since we rented through them- but then had to explain and argue with the front desk at check out to get those fees refunded. Finally had to get the concierge over to the desk to work it out for us). There are cornhole boards out on the sand by oceanfront rooms, however when I called the desk to request bags so we could play, I was told they just lost them and dont have any more. Really? Its takes like 1-2 days on Amazon to get new ones - how do you have amenities out for your guests and they just cant be used? Seems ridiculous to me for a resort of this level.

Overall it does have beautiful grounds, nice bar/restaurant staff, generally good food and drinks, large rooms/villas for families, and a lot of potential. Unfortunately it falls short in a lot of areas and needs to really improve on service. I did enjoy the nice music playing all day, the heated pools, and the Grove bar/restaurant area.

This hotel has many good qualities; it feels fairly premium, with accommodation situated amongst palm trees and plenty of greenery. It has a nice, small feel about it and is typically very quiet. Our accommodation was spacious, with two en-suite bedrooms. Bed was huge and very comfortable. Balcony is lovely to sit out and chill, and the ceiling fan in the rooms helps to keep air moving and is particularly welcome when it gets hot. You’re provided with premium toiletries such as shower gel, hand wash, and shampoo which is a nice touch.

The seating area has a large TV, plus a sink and microwave.

The pool areas are nice, and there are a few to choose from - one of which is adults only. When we were here in late February, there was never an issue getting a lounger. In fact it was very quiet, and each is already set up with a towel. There’s also free sunscreen and a large water dispenser to stay hydrated.

Valet parking is mandatory, which seems to work fine and didn’t have any issues. However, on a couple of occasions you realise the car(s) is only parked a few meters away and therefore it’s just quicker to ask to get it yourself; seems a bit pointless to have somebody drive it for 15 seconds to the hotel door.

The hotel gym is a disappointment, given you’re paying a hefty ‘resort fee’. There are two treadmills, one Peloton bike, and a cross trainer. At the time of writing, one treadmill is completely broken and doesn’t look like it’ll be fixed any time soon (the belt system looks cracked). The other isn’t reliable and we had to ask the hotel staff to come and take a look - any time you try to increase speed, it slows down/stops. So these treadmills seem like they need to be replaced. The Peloton, although a little used, does the job well but you do need your own personal login to use it. The free weights are generally fine, but as the room is small you’ll find it difficult to get much done if there’s anybody else in there because two adults is a bit of a squeeze and there’s only one weight bench.

Tip: there’s nice chilled bottles of water in the gym fridge.

You’ll get a brilliant, and quiet, view of the sunset here if you make your way to the ‘beach’ area towards the back. Only a few other guests were there, and I’ll attach a photo of the sunset view to this review. Highly recommended if you don’t want to go into the centre.

Overall, I’d say this is a very comfortable, nice place to stay in Key West. Would I come back? Probably, if the price was right.

Not Parrot Key. There are a couple on the south side of the island I think. There is zero ocean access at Parrot Key. There is a bunch of sand so you can pretend like you are at a beach.
