Stayed here twice, once on our way to Key West and once on our way back from Key West. This is an older hotel and although some things did show age, the owners did a great job modernizing the rooms. The bathrooms are small but updated. The beds were super comfortable. The AC was loud but cold. The rooms are in little cottages that you could drive right up to and park outside the room. Unfortunately, both times we got in late and had to leave early so we weren't able to go to the beach. Will stay here again next time we are in Key Largo.

I will admit I was a tad annoyed when I first checked in. We didn’t make our reservation until after 5:30 because we didn’t want to drive all the way back to Miami, and upon checking in I was told I would pay $10 extra for my son (there were only 3 of us & we were literally only going to be there for 9 hours).....HOWEVER, after getting into our room I was quickly over it. Our room was huge, with a kitchenette & comfortable beds. There’s a gorgeous private beach with a place to dock your boat if you have one. There are kayaks to use even though we never located the paddles to go with them. It looked like some people had taken them & were hoarding them. Great location with restaurants in walking distance. The manager/owner was also very understanding when my son locked us out of our room & had to come open it. We will definitely be back!!!

Sure. You will read the reviews that the rooms are dated, the air conditioning is a bit loud, and that the beds aren’t the best. That’s all true. But I promise you. If you stay for a night, you will never want to leave. The property and staff are amazing. Everything is incredibly clean. And really, there’s nowhere like the pelican!

This was our second time visiting Pelican Cottages, and it never disappoints. Our cottage was perfect, clean, with a beautiful view, and a 10’ walk to the water. We will be back, it’s our favorite. We really relaxed and felt safe in spite of the pandemic. You are truly able to spread out and abide by the 6’ rule, as there was really no crowd there at all. Total relaxation, with lots to do if you choose, including jet skis, and kayaks. Thank you again, Pelican Cottages, always a good time!
