We stayed here on our way to Marathon Florida in March of 2021. There were 4 couples in our group, and we rented two of the diver's quarters. We had access to a patio outside of our rooms, which is where we spent alot of our time. The water front is gorgeous, and has some tables and chairs that you can sit at/in to enjoy the view. There was live music at the bar next door, and we stayed and listened to that at the waterfront. The staff was great to deal with. The rooms were very clean.
Decided last minute to visit Key Largo and since we have a Labrador retriever we looked for a dog friendly place. Sunset Cove had one cottage left so we booked for 2 nights. It was a wonderful time, the staff is super friendly and accommodating. Sunsets on the beach were beautiful and our dog was allowed everywhere on the resort on leash. We ended up staying an extra night we loved it so much. Really has that old Florida beach vibe!
They are quite serious about the pandemic here. Even the pens at reception are sanitised. The reception itself is outdoors and staff wear masks, and the girl who checked us in was super friendly. Our room was super clean. It was pretty basic but then again I wasn’t expecting the Four Seasons. Separate toilet and shower suites - both clean and they are pretty generous with towels. TV was large (approx 55 inch I think) and had plenty of cable channels. Bed was very comfortable. Also WiFi was very strong and there was an impressive device on the bedside table with power and usb sockets for charging phones etc. The highlight of the resort was the coast view. We enjoyed a lovely sunset. They even allowed me to smoke my Huqqa pipe on the beach. One section of the beachfront is socially distanced well. As for the bar area, the staff wore masks and the bar tender is super efficient and quite an impressive character too. He can throw an empty soda can in the bin from a distance without even looking, while pouring a drink with his other hand. Well I was impressed anyway. Nonetheless at the time of sunset the bar wasn’t socially distanced at all. And customers were walking freely around without masks...but it’s Florida...a state where covidiot behaviour is normal so you cannot really blame the hotel for the covidiot mentality of the clients. The hotel is also conveniently located a few minutes walk from a CVS, Walgreens, Starbucks and Domino’s. Overall a pleasant stay. I recommend it for an overnight stop in Key Largo.…
Old Florida keys style is the way to go. Laid back, friendly, great accommodations (we stayed in #6), spotless, beautiful grounds, hammocks, kayaks and paddle boards available. The beach is awesome with tiki huts for shade and the best sunset I’ve ever seen!!
We stayed in the Beach Cottage at Sunset Cove Beach Resort. It was very clean and very pretty. We also enjoyed sitting in the hotel provided chairs in the beach to watch the sunset. Everyone was very nice and helpful also!
