Please understand that when we are on vacation, we are excited, have traveled hundreds/thousands of miles and we want to get on the beach/see the ocean as soon as we can. Check-in time for Sunset Cove is 4pm. In December, the sun actually sets a 5-5:30pm. After driving all day, I arrived at 4:30pm, there was not a manager at the desk and there was a sign that she would return later. There were 4 other people waiting ahead of me and I asked where the manager was...they did not know, 15 minutes later, Gisela walks up, unlocks the door, closes the door behind her and begins check-in for the first person...leaving all of us outside. 15 more minutes go by, still no word from Gisela so I popped my head in her office to ask what is going on? She rudely spoke to say "Wait outside"! 10 more minutes go by and she begins to process me(I already had reservations for 2 nights). 10 more minutes go by and finally issues my key, and states to me "Next time, don't be so rude!", I did not speak, I turned and left. It's now after 5pm and the sun is setting. The next morning, I finally found the coffee maker hidden in a utility closet next to the cleaning supplies...but there wasn't coffee...I had to drive to a gas station for my morning coffee. I decided not to stay my second night and checked-out. Upon cancelling my second night with Gisela, I told her I cannot give my business to you when you call me rude at check-in, she stated "you are rude!"...I turned and left. I am now looking at my credit card statement; she charged me for my first night and charged me 2x for the second night, in other words, she is trying to penalize me when she should have never left the desk at prime check-in period; never called me rude twice;! and then triple billed me. I will challenge all charges and take this up with the owner. Dennis PS - Here are a few other notes: * Property right along A1A, loud vehicle and truck noise * No coffee in room * Wine glasses had "Dollar Store" price tags left on * Next-door restaurant would not deliver to this property * Entry tiles busted * Low-end rv's and micro units on property * One of the "Low-Class" properties in this area…
Decided last minute to visit Key Largo and since we have a Labrador retriever we looked for a dog friendly place. Sunset Cove had one cottage left so we booked for 2 nights. It was a wonderful time, the staff is super friendly and accommodating. Sunsets on the beach were beautiful and our dog was allowed everywhere on the resort on leash. We ended up staying an extra night we loved it so much. Really has that old Florida beach vibe!
I had to cancel my much anticipated trip to Key Largo due to unforeseen financial difficulties and the manager Gisela was very kind during the cancellation process. When I am able to return, I will definitely re-book!
Had a wonderful time in cottage Deep 6 at Sunset Cove this week! Much thanks for the lovely getaway!!! The ownership and the staff were delightful, as was Sunset, and the rooms are incredibly clean. Hope to see them again soon!
This place is not accommodating at all. Paradise was a trailer with a lean-to attached and next to a travel trailer. The bed wasn't made, too short for my 5'7" body, holes in the screens, breakfast was non-existent, out of coffee, Tang for OJ. Charges on a list when you check in. Late check-in, check-out you must go or, guess what, there's a charge!! Thank goodness for the place next door with good music.
