I would stay away from this place. The lady who works the office is extremely rude. You only have a two hour window from 3-5 to check in. Then after we left they called and accused us of smoking in the room, which absolutely did not happen! The pillowcases smelled like smoke when we laid down that night so it was probably the people before us and they didn’t change the pillowcases. Beware booking with this place.
Motel room 4 was small, very clean, recently renovated. The queen bed is comfy, nice recliner chair, good heat and ac. Large fridge, microwave, and keurig. The not so good: paper thin walls, could easily hear the neighbors through the walls; there is a weird air freshener that dispenses fragrance every few minutes (we took the batteries out): and there is no staff on site after hours, our smoke alarm was beeping and no one answered the after hours phone we called for help. We disabled that too. WiFi is weak. Loved our dinner at the original Mrsmacs
This is an RV park with 6 motel rooms. Rooms are small but very clean and very comfortable, very relaxing atmosphere. Staff very friendly. Sit out by the water, watch the amazing sunset, barbecue available. Rent paddle boats. Definitely recommend it.
Stayed in a new cottage (14A) facing the water. Place was immaculate and the people working there and 'wintering' there were lovely. Couldn't beat the views and the laid back vibe. We've never stayed in an RV park and only ended up here because a place we had booked in Islamorada cancelled our reservation (due to plumbing issues) hours before our flight. Frantically we started googling places that met our needs and budget. Wasn't expecting much at Riptide but was pleasantly surprised! One issue, however, needs to be mentioned and dramatically improved upon: our cottage had a full kitchen with very nice Whirlpool appliances (washer, dryer, full-sized oven and fridge) and the most deficient supplies I've ever experienced when renting a place with a complete kitchen! I'm not looking for a food processor or an espresso machine BUT the very basics of cooking and courtesy supplies were missing. Just to list a few: no hot pads, no baking sheet, no colander, no drink pitcher, no wine glasses or wine opener....this is just to list a few. Also, other places my husband and I have stayed at least provide the bare minimum courtesy products like coffee filters, salt and pepper, at least a half roll of paper towels and maybe one spray cleaner (makes sense so you can help them keep things tidy)....nope, nothing. When I asked about all the missing things I was told that people usually bring that stuff with them...?!? Really, on a plane? A baking sheet? To a busy area in the Keys with people coming from all over the world? I don't think so. Anyway, I found the attention to detail in this area very negligent and something that could very easily and quite affordably be remedied. If Sun Resort took the little bit of effort to do this for their renters it would immeasurably increase their satisfaction.…
As a full time resident of this resort I can tell you sun communities has really gone to great lengths to improve this park . The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Just like any resort there are rules so everyone can enjoy this little slice of paradise. If you want to see amazing sunsets and enjoy a quiet peaceful vacation with a friendly atmosphere please give this place a try !
