Look, I realize hotels on Key Biscayne are very expensive, but come on. This place hasn't been renovated since the 60's. The 'kitchenette' has no stove, formica badly chipped, burned, and peeling, and the sheets are made of fine quality sandpaper. It's like going to the Stardust hotel in Vegas right before it was demolished. This place is way past... More

I stayed in this hotel for one night because I had a meeting in Key Biscayne. The bathroom had short brown hairs everywhere. The floor was dirty and sandy. It is clear that there had been no renovation in many years and the price at $130, I felt was excessive and not worth the price. My basic needs are Cleanliness... More

What a wonderful place to reconnect with "old" school buddies! Our 40th reunion was held here, and it was refreshing to see the S.S. in such good shape. The management and staff couldn't have been more helpful! Will definitely come back--next time with family. I would highly recommend this motel! :)

We just held the 40th Reunion for the Coral Gables High Class of 1970 at the Silver Sands. We filled every room and had evening activities that were attended by over 200 each night. WE WERE THRILLED WITH OUR ACCMODATIONS. Every person in attendance held fond memories of this Motel from our youth. Those memories were re-kindled by lush tropical... More

We paid a crazy amount of money for one night to stay in a room with a filthy floor and a staff who wouldn't lift a finger to help me with my luggage (as I was pushing my mom in a wheelchair). Don't stay here.

I recently traveled to Key Biscayne for several days of Kite Board lessons with Miami Kiteboarding. There are only two hotels on Key Biscayne, this one and a Ritz Carlton. This is obviously the cheaper of the two, but not by far. This is an old motel. The beds are hard, but there's hot water and the rooms were made... More

Past reviews left me with mixed feelings prior to arrival, but in an area where the only other option is the Ritz, we took a try. The motel is vintage 1950's, with clean rooms and beautifully maintained grounds. The beach is only steps away. The pool is warm, clean and inviting. We did not pay extra of the garden view... More

This place was awful in every respect. The room was so nasty we were afraid to remove our socks. The walls were so thin we hardly slept. The beach was almost non-existent. The lack of dining options was difficult. The internet was down while we were there. The in-room kitcheneette facilities were gross. If you come here, you must rent... More

The staff is very nice -- not super high-end hotel cheerbots, but good and helpful regular folk. I arrived at 5 AM or so on Sunday morning without reservation. I mentioned I wanted wi-fi, so they put me in a room near the lobby, where their wi-fi antenna is. I wound up staying 4 more nights. They very nicely gave... More

At first I was not impressed but it is by no means a "disgusting motel" as some have described it. Looks to be from the old 50'/60's South Beach/Vegas era. But the lobby is clean and has updated decor. The front desk personnel were nice and provided helpful information for restaurants, sights, and issues we had with the air conditioner... More
