My husband and I choose the Mission Inn to celebrate our tenth wedding anniversary. We had stayed there before and were really impressed with the recent improvements. Everything from our beautifully appointed room to the gathering areas and restaurants throughout the resort appeared clean, fresh and updated. We have always been very pleased with the quality of service and were not disappointed this time around. The easy drive to Tavares and Mount Dora made this the perfect base camp. Sunset at the Pool Bar was a treat thanks to our very entertining bartender (thanks Teresa!)

Been here many times for events and gold tournaments but this was my first time staying overnight. Love the grounds, very nice staff. Rooms are nice size - ours looked out over the golf course. Parts of the interior are a little out of date including the air unit for such a nice resort. But beds, baths, facilities are all wonderful. If u are not familiar with the area, know that there is very little nearby less that 15-2o minutes away. That's great if you are looking for a quiet getaway. Told the spa is also great but never used it. Gorgeous golf course.

I wanted to provide feedback regarding my golfing experience at your facility. My son and I were quickly accommodated to play on Sunday afternoon, February 14, 2010. I took my seventeen year old son from OH to FL to celebrate his Eagle Scout accomplishment and visit my mother. The course we played was Las Colinas with a tee time of 1:37 p.m. Please note the following comments:

As first time visitors, we received no information as to where to locate the starter after receipt of our invoice to pay 18 holes. Also, we were not informed of a golf scramble taking place and that it was scheduled to be a 9 hole event. The pace of play was very slow; it took 3 hours to play the front 9 holes.
Found the starter and was told what cart to take, but wasn’t provided any directions as to the location of the first tee and which group to follow. Also, we loaded our clubs onto the cart and were not offered to have clubs placed onto the cart by the starter.
We enjoyed the course layout and found it to be challenging and enjoyable
We were very disappointed in the course conditions. The tee box, fairways and greens had numerous bare spots. For the cost to play of $128.40, the course wasn’t reflective of this expense.

My son and I played the Legends at the LPGA International for a total of $86.00 and the course was in great shape. The Legends was very challenging and enjoyable along with the fact that the starters were very helpful and inquired if we had played their course before. Also, their starter made sure we knew where the first tee was located, placed our clubs onto the cart, discussed prior groups teeing off, location of practice greens and cleaned our clubs after the round. We played the Legends on Saturday, February 13, 2010 with a 2:00 p.m. tee time.

Also, the food on the course at the LPGA International was very good. For $6.00, we received a freshly made sandwich (ham or turkey with cheese) on wheat or white bread, a pickle spear and a bag of chips. The cost we paid for a sandwich on a bun was $5.00 at your course.

Again, you have a very nice facility, but with Gary Koch’s name assigned to the Las Colinas course, I was expecting conditions and amenities to be superior to what we encountered.

Mike, OH

Terribly outdated and overpriced, this "resort" is in desperate need of a complete overhaul. The rooms are furnished with outdated furniture featuring very uncomfortable beds with paper thin sheets, dirty carpet and moldy bathrooms. There is a musty smell throughout the property. The food served in the main dining area and out at the golf facility is awful and accompanied by incredibly slow, inaccurate service. The pool area looks like something out of the 50's with broken chaise lounges, cracked concrete and a pool edge that is, frankly, dangerous. The golf courses are over-rated, particularily El Campeon, where the greens are in terrible shape. To add insult to injury, these folks charge an additional, automatic "resort fee," have inflated green's fees and the services at their new spa cost more than some of the finest resorts in the world! And finally, we attended with a large group of others during a golf tournament and found that a number of other participants were as disappointed as we were with our experience.

We stayed at Mission Inn for 5 nights. Every lunch and every dinner was awful. Far below mediocre.

If you don't mind eating very badly, Mission Inn is a scenic spot. There are no other options for food ... except to drive to Applebee's or Wendy's. Even the golf course restaurant for lunch had inedible food.

This is the worst of all worlds; expensive lousy cuisine.

Until my friend announced she was getting married at a marina near the Mission Inn Resort, I had never even heard of Howey in the Hills. Four months prior to the wedding, I tried booking a room as part of her wedding block at Mission Inn, but because of a golf event scheduled there, all accommodations were full. I was added to a waiting list, and just three days prior to the wedding, someone from the office called to say a room was available -- excellent customer service.

The grounds are absolutely stunning, with Spanish-style architecture and a meticulously maintained golf course, surrounded by lush landscaping and colorful flowers. At check-in, we were given a helpful map with a list of the resort's offerings, which included golf, fishing and other activities that we wished we had more time to experience. (We only stayed for one night.)

There are several buildings at the resort with covered walkways to the other buildings. It's not an ideal setup for anyone who's got mobility issues, but for us it was fine. Shuttles are offered to take guests between various areas at the resort, which is convenient if you don't have a car or don't want to drive every time you need to go somewhere.

We were given a deluxe room with a king bed in the San Miguel building. It was clean and comfortable with everything we needed and more, including an in-room Keurig coffee/tea machine and an adorable balcony with a stunning view of the grounds.

The morning of check-out, we went to La Hacienda, one of the onsite restaurants, for the lunch buffet, which was tasty and reasonably priced. It offered a selection of cold cuts and cheese for sandwiches, as well as a small salad bar, soup and dessert. There was also a sizeable menu with waiter service for guests who opted not to go the buffet route. Our waiter was friendly and helpful, and the views from the floor-to-ceiling windows near our table provided a great backdrop.

I highly recommend a stay at Mission Inn.

Very good Golf Courses, but the Resort is pretty average, 3 * at best. The food is average the drinks very pricy and the rooms small and noisy. On top of that over a $1000 for 2 nights. This resort is very 3 star and was very disappointing.

We have a retired friend in Leesburg that we get together with several times a year and this is one of our favorite places to have lunch in the area. They have a very attractive physical presence on a beautiful golf course setting with an attractive interior and comfortable seating. Service is always top notch and our waitress, Heather was no exception being friendly and personable. My wife, Gluten free, had a Burger with mushroom sautee and a Gluten Free bun! ( $12.50) A real treat for her as the bun was quite tasty! ..... I opted for a Turkey Avocado BLT on a roll. ($13.00).
While not "cheap" ... the food was delicious and nicely served and of large quality and quantity. We did not walk away hungry.
This place has overnight accomodations and is enjoyed by people from around the world because of the great reputation of the hospitality , The beautiful Spanish architecture, the quality of the courses ( 2 championship 18 hole courses) and the food available. It is a bit "out of the way" but worth the effort to get there. I have played the course but have never stayed in the hotel.

This was our first stay at this resort and first impressions count. We made our reservation in June of 2018 to attend a wedding. While check in time was 4PM our room was not ready. The wedding was at 5PM and we had to change so the hotel upgraded us at no cost. Still, we find it difficult to comprehend that the hotel does not have enough staff to get all the rooms serviced in 4 hours (check out time is noon) when they know well in advance that they will be completely full and that there are multiple weddiings on site that day.

However, the incident that concerned us most occurred the morning we checked out. We went to breakfast at the restaurant and were out of our room for about 1.5 hours. When we returned, we were finishing up our packing and it became clearly evident that someone had been in our room. Portions of the 'welcome basket' that we received as a wedding guest were missing. Fortunately, all my wife's jewelry was with her in her purse, and most of our possessions were packed. We reported the incident to the front desk when we checked out and the attitude of the clerk was less than concerned. His only comment was that he would report it to the head of housekeeping. We have never had an incident like this in all our travels over 43 years of marriage and business. Very disturbing and the primary reason for our rating.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience with us. We are sincerely sorry to hear about your delay in getting into your room. I am delighted the front desk staff upgraded you to a suite at no additional charge to facilitate your timely check-in. Regarding your security concern, we have looked into this in detail. The clerk you spoke with did contact the housekeeping supervisor and an investigation was conducted. The housekeeper entered the room to see if she could start cleaning the room for the next guest as it was your scheduled check-out day. We have addressed, as policy, the fact that anything in the rooms is not to be touched, even if it is food in a gift basket. Please accept my sincere apology and thank you for pointing this out to us. We hope you had a great time at the wedding and welcome you back in the future. Please feel free to contact me directly if you have additional concerns or comments. (352) 324-3101.
