This hotel is a MUST-STAY for anyone traveling to the Homosassa-Crystal River area. Our family can't say enough GLOWING things about this beautifully restored historic hotel. While maintaining a nod to its history, the entire hotel has been upgraded and updated. It is spotlessly clean, in a great location, close to the river, kayaks and home-cooked breakfasts are included. Many thanks to the owner and host, Jim, for the wonderful amenities and helpful local information. We will definitely plan another visit and will spread the word about this peaceful sanctuary. Don't look any further...this hotel has it all!

Loved the picturesque bed and breakfast charm that this hotel has. The room we were in was immaculate and clean. The hotel has a nice gathering room with sofas and rocking chairs. Our suite was spacious and it included a table and an extra bed on top of our queen bed. The water pressure was fantastic in the walk in shower

There is an available grill, Keurig, and fire-pit available for guest use.

There is WiFi availability but the days that we stayed it was sketchy. Then again our arrival date was full of stormy thunderstorms in the area. Yet I wish there would have been more WiFi stability.

My wife and I, best hangout was at the front porch in the rocking chairs with the end table. This where we had our charcuterie and glasses of wine watching the sun set. In the morning, we would have our coffee watching the sunrise on the same place

Over all it was a fantastic stay. The rustic charm, the country woods atmosphere and the amiability of the owner and staff was infectious.

The local restaurants were actually pretty decent. Recommend you go to the Starting Gate for breakfast. Mango Tango for lunch or dinner.
Although the Freezer Restaurant had excellent food the flies INSIDE the restaurant were unbearable due to quantity of flies buzzing around the tables.

Overall it was an excellent stay notwithstanding the minor details. We are actually planning now to go on my birthday since we had such a great time on our anniversary

Definitely recommend it.

The hotel was as discussed in the reviews.
I enjoyed the nice relaxed stay.
Check in was easy and size of the room and bath made it an easy place for my solo self ,but it
would have been fine for 2 or 3 guests.
The parking was great after the rain in the area it was not flooded!
I would visit again !

The owner and staff treat you like family. Hanging out at the fire pit while dinner grilling on the gas grill was a highlight. Under those majestic trees with the Spanish moss and ferns is really special. Caught our dinner on the river then cooked it there. The rooms aren’t anything special but the beds were fine. The location, people, setting, and the breakfast with the hard boiled eggs, bagel with raw honey is the parts I would say set them apart.

The Chassahowitzka Hotel was perfect for our plans to get away from the common and relax. The 100 plus year old building has been upgraded and well maintained. The rooms offer modern creature comforts with the understanding that they are well loved and casual but comfortable in style. The grounds feature comfortable rocking chairs on the shaded big front porch with a view of the Florida woods. There is a kayak friendly river right around the corner, 72 degree spring fed water.
The friendly, knowledgeable and personable staff make. us look forward to our next opportunity to visit

Came to Florida to see manatees in Feb. The Chassahowitzka Hotel is perfectly located a very short walk for kayaking the river and seeing the manatees right off the dock. Hotel is set up for larger groups but if you can book one room only, you have lots of space and the huge bathroom all to yourself. Angela and David were very helpful and accommodating throughout our stay. If you are in the area it is a great place and we would for sure stay here again.

The Chassahowitzka Hotel was more than I could have asked for. From the accommodations, to the breakfast and dinners (made from scratch daily), they made my golf group feel like they were home. All I can say about this place is my group of 16 never wanted the trip to end. Nice job Chassahowitzka !!

Great little place! It was clean, neat and quiet. I could only stay one night - I think it’s a two night minimum- but they were able to accommodate me for an extra fee. There were extra comforters for the cool nights. I wasn’t expecting much for breakfast but was pleasantly surprised with different types of fresh bagels, fresh fruit, yogurt and a variety of toppings. Water pressure was amazing! The caretaker as well as the patrons were very pleasant and courteous. Would have liked to have spent some more time there to sit on the porch or grill or just enjoy the area.

This is a great place to stay. We went for a kayak trip and the boat ramp was less than a mile away. Jim was the perfect host the entire time. Made everything so enjoyable and easy. There was everything we needed and it was so comfortable. Setting was lovely - even saw a pileated wood pecker (Woody). We will definitely return. We highly recommend it. Don't let this perfect hotel slip by you.

This was the perfect place to spend a few days away and go kayaking. The rooms were clean, comfortable and spacious. The boat ramp is a 5 minute walk away with access to the Seven Sisters and the Crack springs. You can bring your own kayak or rent them from the hotel (or the boat ramp.) The river offered beautiful views of nature and swimming spots at the springs. Close to Crystal River and the Three Sisters spring and the Crystal River Archeological State Park. Saw lots of wildlife, including humming birds, red tailed hawks, owls, and armadillos, just sitting on the porch. Plenty of great local restaurants with a view of the river nearby. This is a nice place to get away for a few days and relax.

what is close for night life?
Answer from David C
New Port Richey, Florida95 contributions35 helpful votes
Define "nightlife". It is kind of remote and fairly quiet. There are some nice "dive bars.' I mean that in the best possible way. Beware of where you roam, but you will usually find very nice accommodating locals. The connection to the Sunshine expressway is close and that can have you in the Tampa Bay area in 45 minutes.

Thank you for your consideration of The Chassahowitzka Hotel for your accommodations. We are located in a more rural setting and thus have a truly limited night life. There are a few local bars, pretty low key. North of us by about 10 miles near Crystal river is High Octane, usually quite busy, occasional live entertainment. The Spring Hill area south of us may have a bit more nightly activity but keep in mind we are only an hour north of Tampa.

What does a shared bathroom mean?
Answer from Chazzhotel
Hmosassa,Fl2 contributions2 helpful votes
We are a lodge style hotel with 8 rooms. Only one of these rooms has a private bath within the room. The other 7 rooms share two large bathrooms. Each having two showers, two separate toilets, and double sink vanities. The doors on the bathrooms are lockable so you can make it as private as need be while in the bathroom. I hope this answers your question and we look forward to serving you.

Thank you for your interest. Our price for a nightly stay ranges from $80 - $100 per night per room. For the entire building the price is $625 for the night. Once again thank you for your interest in our establishment and if there is anything else we can do please feel free to contact us.

If I remember correctly, the second floor has two large rooms (east and west side of the building) that are separated by a day room (couches and TV). The west room had two doubles and a single bed and the east room had two doubles. The west room also had a connecting door to a double bed room in the front (L shaped layout). There is a bathroom off the day room that contain 2-3 showers with sinks and 2 -3 toilets (dorm style). Chass has been and still booked by groups of golfers or fishermen that want a get away for a week or weekend. My wife and I reserved a double bed room on the first floor for the Outback Bowl last January. I suggest you call the hotel and talk to the Jeff, manager. He went out of his way to help us plan our trip and accommodations. Unique B&B.
