The “Chass” treated us like family during our 2 night stay. Kim made sure everything was in place for our welcome and gave a great description of the available rooms when I booked with her. All of the rooms are unique. You are not staying in a chain hotel but one with an interesting Florida history from 1901. Becky, who has worked at the hotel for 30 years is a wealth of information of all the local best spots and restaurants. Both Kim and Becky’s recommendations were spot on . The hotel is impeccably clean and the new owner is making it even better. We loved kayaking and seeing the manatees. We will be back.
The staff, Kim and Becky, made our stay feel like we were staying with good friends! The Manatee room was spacious and very clean, and the bathroom sparkled! Slight musty odor, but it's the forest. The room could seriously use a lamp. The coffee station was great! I'd love to bring my adult kids back for a few days. What a gorgeous place to visit.
A really amazing stay. Homely feel with history. Such a beautiful property that feels secure and filled with peace in a great location. The room was VERY clean and quiet. The manager/host had amazing communication and great recommendations of the area if what to do and where to eat. Every morning was a continental style breakfast and coffee/ juice. When we come back we will definitely stay here again.
We came down for a long weekend and I struggled to find a place for our large party of 8 to stay. I happened upon this property at the last minute just before I canceled the trip. I am so thankful we were able to stay in this hidden gem. Kim is the most gracious hostess and went above and beyond to make sure our stay was perfect. The hotel is super clean and updated. Breakfast was easy and tasty. Kim gave us recommendations in addition to things we had planned. I could sit on the porch all day. It is a lovely space to just relax and enjoy the area.
This is the second year in a row we have stayed here. Love the cozy quaintness of the hotel. Clean dwelling and very close to the river where you can walk to see the manatees . Family type atmosphere.
Very dissatisfied. I have stayed here before and it was nice. They used to come in early and put out a very nice cold breakfast. No more...they just left us some ceral, and some bagels in the fridge. The ice maker there, which we enjoyed, was broken. They didn't provide enough towels. Before, they were cleaned daily. No more. And the worst part was that were having a cold snap with the weather dipping into the low thirties and they refused to adjust the thermostats. The only blanket was this very thin cotton spread. I was freezing whole time. The rooms are clean, but no bedside lamp or chest of drawers. ...A one star rating!
This is a wonderful place to stay with groups. There are suites, private rooms and large shared spaces. All in a beautiful historic setting that has beautiful porches and a firepit with eating tables. But best of all are Kim and Becky, they are super sweet and super helpful. Breakfast was great, and dinners can also be arranged. So looking forward to next year!
I was raised up spending all my childhood and adult weekends on Garden Island owned by the Strickland family. We have stayed at the hotel sense the renovations carried out by David Strickland and Family years ago. Every experience we have had on every occasion has been exceptional. Everything needed and more. We appreciate the trusting treatment by the staff, That accomodations are exceptional . The place has been a part of my life and a big part of chassahawitzkas history. We have a house down river and often use the hotel for extra (overflow) sleeping arrangements. Thank you.
My family and I have been staying at this hotel since it opened years ago. My Parents live around the corner and I'm so grateful for a comfortable place to stay. Breakfast is available on Saturday mornings in the kitchen downstairs. A bonus is the pet-friendly nature of the hotel. We brought our 85 pound dog and he was welcomed by the staff.
Came to Florida to see manatees in Feb. The Chassahowitzka Hotel is perfectly located a very short walk for kayaking the river and seeing the manatees right off the dock. Hotel is set up for larger groups but if you can book one room only, you have lots of space and the huge bathroom all to yourself. Angela and David were very helpful and accommodating throughout our stay. If you are in the area it is a great place and we would for sure stay here again.
