We stayed at Waterline for a few nights to celebrate a family birthday. There were only 3 of us, so the 2 bedroom unit was very spacious. Our room was fully equipped with a kitchen as well as washer and dryer. We had a decent balcony and enjoyed the pool view. The hotel is within walking distance to a nearby beach as well as some shops and restaurants. There are also many other restaurants, shops, and beaches within 5-10 min drive. There is a Publix grocery store about 5 minutes away. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. If I ever happen to return to Anna Maria Island, I will stay at Waterline.

This Marriott Signature property sails under the radar on beautiful Anna Maria Island. Marriott worked hard to convince the Anna Maria councils that bringing a new Marriott property on this quaint Island wouldn’t change its character and ambiance a bit. It hasn’t. What a surprise to discover this property last weekend when planning a spontaneous getaway to ease the pain of a cancelled graduation ceremony for my daughter. The Waterline Marina Resort is boutique in nature - only 37 rooms, but each a spacious 2 bedroom, 2 bath luxurious 5-star suite complete with balcony(ies), washer/dryer, side-by-side refrigerator with ice machine and anti-slip flooring in the kitchen that shows the lengths taken to prove this property would be everything it claimed - an asset to the community - and travel-weary guests. The spacious kitchen is amply appointed with stoneware from England, high end cookware and a hand-crafted dining set for 4 that looked to be commissioned. An ingenious decorating coup throughout the hotel featured works of art from local artisans for sale - providing a gallery-like finesse while supporting Anna Maria Island artists. The gracious and friendly desk manager Zee welcomed us warmly and did everything she could to make our stay memorable. From offering Tide laundry pods for the washer to loading extra shampoo and conditioners in a bag to ensure there was enough to go around - she topped it off with a call in the morning to see how we were and offer an extended checkout if we wanted. Matthew, the Operations Mgr, stepped in to accommodate the earlier checkin for my husband who needed to rest and plug in his oxygen machine. The hotel was full and it took some work but our lovely suite was ready by 2 PM. I’ll let the photos speak for themselves. We have stayed in Marriotts throughout the Country and London but this one ranks at the top. With over 1,100 SF of gracious living, the Waterline Marina Resort will not only deliver luxury but peace and relaxation.

Dear CapeCodJuner, Thanks so much for taking the time to leave us a review. The opening team worked hard to ensure our Autograph collection hotel made the right footprint on Anna Maria Island and I’m so glad you agree that we “fit right in” with the Island. Z and Matthew truly are an amazing asset to our team, and I will share your praises with them. We hope you can make it out to enjoy some more “peace and relaxation” with us soon. Nothing but positive impressions from day one. (I really, REALLY don't understand all the whiners who downgrade this hotel on whimsical pretenses). The staff is extremely friendly and helpful - that's what you notice from a get-go. For example, we arrived early in the morning and needed a room right away to enable our kids not to miss their online classes. The normal check-in is at 4:00pm, but they quickly organized the room for us, and we were in at 9:00. Any request you have they address almost immediately (whenever possible). Pleasant and polite personalities. This hotel is IDEAL for a family vacation. And compared to the absolute majority of properties in the island is TOTALLY ahead of the competition. Even more so - during this time of pandemics. The rooms are really full-size apartments - this is important. Separate bedrooms with individual bathrooms (huge), fully-equipped kitchen and dining room (and I do mean FULLY), nice balcony, high-quality washer and dryer, ironing desk and iron, vacuum cleaner, TVs in every room with cable and Netflix/HBO, trash valet service. On top of all, apartments have decentralized entry/egress street access through several stairwells connecting the floors, so you don't have to go through the lobby area all the time, and chances of your running into other guests are rather minimal. (Access is secured with electronic card locks). There's plenty of parking space plus quite a few covered parking slots. The beach is an 8-min walk away. If you want a better sand quality, there's a very nice one within a 10-min drive. A Publix supermarket is within a walking distance (or a few minutes by car). There are also restaurants and small businesses all around (we didn't eat out - out of precaution - because all of those places were PACKED). There's a free bus connecting all main points on the island. So, bottom line, this is your best choice on Anna Maria Island, all things considered. Expensive? Yes - but it's worth it, and you can book with Marriott points.

First of all, I am not much of a complainer so it takes a lot for me to take time out of the day to write a negative review but in this case, I feel it is warranted. Warning, this is long and detailed. A groups of friends and I reserved a stay at this property as a surprise for my fiance's 30th birthday. My fiance and I were suppose to stay at the property last November but had a death in the family a few days prior to the reservation. I called and asked for a refund even though it was outside of the cancellation window. Even though we had a death and I had proof, they refused the refund but said they would give me a future credit in the amount I paid, I didn't fight it and just took the credit. I decided to use the credit for my fiance's birthday on August 31st and have some friends come with to surprise. The rate for that night came out to 11 dollars more than what my credit was worth, so I called the reservations team and they applied my credit and I paid the extra 11 dollars. Awhile after making the reservation for the 31st, we decided we would want to stay the following night as well so I booked a second night on a different reservation, and paid everything upfront. We only live 2.5hrs from the property but we had blown two tires at two different times on the way over which caused us to get to the property at almost 10pm. We were soaked from the rain, tired, and defeated. I walk into the lobby to see a sign that says "front desk closed", I started to cry. I had to call someone to come check us in, so I had to walk back to the car to get my phone just to have someone check us in. When the lady came down she asked me how i was doing and I told her how sad and upset I was for the bad day and that it was my fiance's 30th bday. She offered me a candy bar as if that would make anything better. I am a platinum bonvoy elite member, i asked if there was any upgrades since it was also his birthday, she immediately said no. I asked if i get a free breakfast or amenity, she immediately said no they dont offer those things. Only points she said. I was too tired to argue so I took on the keys and went to the room. The room was not clean, there were a pair of sandals even left from the previous occupants. We were nervous so we cleaned and sanitized everything ourselves. The next morning when we came back from breakfast our keys did not work. I figured this was because of having two separate reservations so I walked all the way back to the front desk to get new keys, got the keys came back to the room. Later that afternoon when we came to back to the room again, the keys did not work yet again. I went down to the office again and this time the girl at the front desk came with us. The battery in the door was dead, she had to use an emergency battery pack to open it. She said someone would come to fix it. NO ONE EVER CAME. Someone fixed it as we were packing up to leave the room the FOLLOWING DAY. So basically we didnt have working keys 90% of our stay and had to have someone open our door every single time or one of us stayed in the room to let the others back in. We saw the front desk lady bringing a bottle of wine and some cheeses to one of the others rooms as an amenity (which I was told they dont do) and other reviews said they were offered some sort of free continental breakfast for being platinum, and I was told no. The morning of our checkout, I went down to the front desk early in the morning to ask for a late checkout (platinum members are suppose to be able to get a 4pm checkout). She told me other people might ask for a late checkout so the best she could do is 12pm (checkout normally at 11am) so a measly 1hr extra?? I was the first one down there that morning, why are you reserving the later checkouts for other people that you "think" might ask for one. After complaining she extended it to 1pm which is still not much. It is now two days after my stay and I still have not recieved a copy of the Bill's. Yet I have been charged 75.00 on one credit card (that I told them not to charge), and 300+ on another. They claim they never had my credit for the stay on the Friday night and charged me the full rate for it and over drafted my account. If it werent for us having such a good time outside of the property, this hotel alone would have completely ruined my finances birthday. I am still fuming at the treatment we received, especially being loyal platinum members.

HappyTravels0384, Thank you so much for sharing your feedback with us on TripAdvisor. I’m sorry to hear about the problems you experienced while staying with us. COVID has brought the hotel industry many challenges and we are trying to navigate the best we can which includes changing hours of operation, restaurant temporary closure, and no one entering the room during your stay. We appreciate your loyalty to the Brand as a Bonvoy Elite member and always strive to ensure we deliver all of our guests a top notch experience, which it sounds like we fell short of on this stay. As a 37 room hotel we are not always able to accommodate some of the things a larger hotel could offer such as upgrades for all Platinum members, or 4PM late checkouts. Please contact me directly at llloydjones@mainsailhotels.com so we can discuss further. Lacey Lloyd-Jones General Manager

We stayed in a 2 bedroom for 5 nights and loved it! The unit was very spacious and there was more than enough room for our family of 5. Everything was spotless and the kitchen was fully stocked with pretty much anything you might need. It’s about a 5 minute walk to the closest beach access, and there are several great restaurants within walking distance as well. The pool is a little small, and I could see how that might be an issue during normal times, but during Covid summer, it was perfectly fine. All of the staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful. It was so nice to have the convenience of a hotel with the amenities of a condo. We would definitely love to return for another visit!
