The Diplomat Beach Resort Hollywood emerges as a chic and inviting destination, with its proximity to the beach and various dining options being a highlight for most guests. The atmosphere and amenities, including clean rooms with beautiful views and access to lovely pools and the beach, receive acclaim.
However, some guests feel the value is diminished by high prices and inconsistencies in service and housekeeping. Noise levels from air conditioning and construction activities also detract from the otherwise positive experience.

Property's Favorite Review
This is one of my favorite hotels for business conferences. The conference center is gorgeous, spacious, and has an excellent staff. It's so easy to get to from the hotel, which makes it a convenient place to stay.
Every time I've stayed here, I've received a room with a partial ocean view, a large clean bathroom with a lovely tub, and a spacious balcony. The beds are very comfortable.
I my recent stay we hosted a private dinner at the Prime Steakhouse for business clients. The food, service and ambiance were perfect.
A few days later I returned to the hotel just as Prime Steakhouse was closing, after a travel snafu. All I wanted was a quick meal and my bed. The host and bartender could not have been more accommodating, whipping up a salad and crab cake to take up to my room, and offering a complimentary glass of wine. They even packed me up a little chocolate desert. It was very kind and much appreciated.
I would love to come here some time with my family, to enjoy the excellent beach and pool service. There's a splash zone for kids that my little boy would love, and several family-friendly pools. They seem to do a great job of offering something for everyone.

Beautiful ocean views and pretty hotel. All of the Monkitail staff (waiter Pavlo and Hosts) were awesome. We had a very good dinner that did not disappoint. Lychee martini and other cocktails were delicious... Paige, Louis and two other bartenders (sorry I didn't get their names were awesome and we went to their bar every evening for a cocktail. One evening we had a cocktail at outdoor bar and it was not great. Too bad because it is nice to sit outdoors by the fire pits.
Beach lounge chairs are ridiculous. Reserving chairs for hours on end and no one on them. We were told to move from an area because another guest reserved those beach chairs. Meanwhile we were there early no towels, sign or reserve sign left on lounge chairs. We stayed!!! They made such a big deal about this and they never even used all of the chairs they did put towels on. Even after we left at 1:00 and looked at 2:00 from our balcony and our chairs that they wanted so badly were still empty and not used. Absolutely ridiculous.
The hotel puts out lounge beds on the space where they know has the longest amount of sun. So you are relegated to the right where the shade sets in after 2:00. Guests should be able to use the entire beach front after all my room fee includes beach access and chairs. On another note I could see the pool floors from my terrace and the hotel pool floors are filthy and need a good power washing.
All in all, I will not be back. Too bad because for the most part the staff were all friendly and the property is pretty.

First the positives: lobby is attractive, food options are good, and oceanfront view is lovely. But there’s lots to be annoyed with about this place. People start saving pool chairs before the sun is even up, and they’re all gone by 8-9am. So for the better part of the morning and afternoon there are no chairs available and you end up having to sit on the cement pool deck if you want to get a little sun. Mind you it’s not that there are people in the chairs— just stuff on them saving them. One attendant told me that if 40 min passes “it’s ok to move someone’s stuff” but there’s no one on staff who is monitoring that or helping people who need chairs find a space. At check in we were told our kids would receive a welcome bucket from the ice cream shop as part of our family package but nothing arrived— we stopped by the front desk every day and they would say oh sorry we’ll send that right up but it wasn’t until the second to last day that it finally appeared. We were grateful but would’ve been nice to use the bucket and shovels throughout the week. They put bracelets on us at check in and said we had to keep them on all week— but we never saw anyone else wearing them and when I asked at the desk one person told me yea they don’t really check till the weekend. We kept having key trouble with the self park and at checkout they charged us for parking even tho that was part of the family package (they did remove the charge after we caught it). Housekeeping was strange— they were usually very late in the day and seemed to get distracted halfway thru so we would find a pile of trash or a random towel that they forgot to take with them. So all in all we were happy to have 5 days of nice weather in south FL but this isn’t the kind of place that we would come back to year after year— we’ve definitely been to better managed places that provide a more consistent and seamless guest experience.

Booked for 6 nights. Pulled up to the valet. We were told that the valet charge would be $45 per night but if we wanted VIP service it would be $48 per night. I agreed to the VIP service but the payment would have to be in cash and up front. I did not have enough cash on me so I had to settle for the $45 per night regular service. Expensive and not worth it.
When we checked in we were given 4 tokens for our free water. After a couple of days we brought one of the tokens to get our water and they gave us a warm bottle. We asked for a cold bottle and were told that would be an extra charge. Ridiculous!
The room was ok, nothing special. The pool area was crowded and it was virtually impossible to get 4 chairs together after 9:30AM. The beach was also very crowded and chairs were at a premium. The 2-person cots were available for rent. Waited 15 minutes just to find somebody to talk to and only then was I told that there was a sale on the 2-person cots. Instead of $500 per day they were on special for $250 per day. Not sure what that gets you but it did not look worth it.
The gym was ok but I cannot say anything about the spa as every time I tried to book a massage they were fully booked (although I only tried to book same day). The cafe in the hotel was ok but very slow and serves take-out $15 peanut butter and jam sandwiches.
All of the hotels in the area are expensive so I cannot say that the Diplomat was too expensive but I can say that the value for the money is simply not there. The rooms were not special at all and the experience at the pool/beach was very disappointing. Don't think that there is any reason to be back.

I recently stayed here for a work conference. We got an "upgraded" room for having Hilton Gold to an oceanfront room. The room was dirty from the start. The cleaning people came in and did a quick clean, as there was food still on the carpet, actual pieces of crackers or something by the bed. When I went to the shower, there was hair on the wall (not from us since it was the first time in there). It was gross. The bathroom glass door was so dirty and streaked with dirt. The carpet was disgusting and stained everywhere so we wore shoes. I found various hairs stuck in the bed sheets. The towels weren't replaced daily either when we put towels on the floor. The balcony was also really unusable since there was bird poop ALL over the floor and just made it really unwelcoming. The pools also look better in photos than in real life. The whole area gets shaded around 3 since the sun sets behind the hotel. The beach area is really small and you have to pay to use an umbrella. Overall, the hotel is terrible, would never recommend anyone to stay here, or really stay in this area. Go to Miami instead.
However, I have to give kudos to the manager who was very understanding and very kind. She found a way to compensate us for the room, which was nice of her.

Public areas of this hotel are dramatic and attractive but the rooms, the housekeeping and the availability of amenities is less than optimal. We requested a suite, but got a room with two beds - and they were old fashioned doubles, not queens. Bed linens were mediocre - no robe or slippers. The shower leaked into the toilet area. The toilet seat was loose. The housekeeping staff did not show up without asking and did not adequately restock the room and did not change bed linens during our 3 night stay. We had to call for cleaning, coffee, glasses or toiletries. Food trays from the prior night sat in the hall until midday. Use of our ocean view balcony was not enjoyable because some mechanical noise was asking to a very loud and constant vacuum cleaner. The maintenance man agreed it was very loud but he disappeared never to be heard from again. The pool areas are lovely, but the guests go early, put personal items on a chair and by the time 10 or 11 rolls around, there is no place to sit. There are not enough umbrellas for the beach in comparison to the number of chairs. The hotel is very large and caters to families so if that is not your thing, be warned. Be aware that whatever rate is quoted, the “add ons” such as a resort fee and parking amount to about $100 a day over and above the daily rate. WiFi doesn’t work. All of the staff and parking attendants were very pleasant and tried hard. Management just doesn’t seem to be giving them any help.

Dear pblack1100, Thank you for taking the time to share your review. We greatly appreciate your compliments and fondness for our staff and the main grounds of our property, which is why it disappoints us to no end to hear we did not fully meet expectations for the remaining areas and amenities of your stay. We've taken all points of concern mentioned above to heart and have shared these with our team. It's our intention to use this as a learning opportunity and guideline in our improvement efforts. We're constantly fine-tuning our service levels to keep them at the high level our valued guests deserve, so your insight is more valuable than you know. Thank you again for sharing, and we hope the next time you are in the area you will allow us the privilege to host you once more.

There is pro’s of this place. Staff is generally super friendly, recognises you from day to day which I wouldn’t expect on a property this size, the Japanese restaurant on site is fantastic, and our corner suite was clean and in good shape. The sea view from our balcony was incredible though it would have been nice with a little more furniture.
I’d definitely recommend bringing a car as we did as there’s not much to experience in the neighborhood. Or, walk half an hour north, enjoy the area there or go with the water taxis up to Fort Lauderdale.
There’s some cons as well, though. The sound proofing between our bedroom and the room next door is non existing, which has to do with the way the wall meets the window frame I believe. We could literally hear every word being said in the bed next door while laying in our bed. Seems like a design fault that cannot easily be fixed.
What the hotel could fix, though, is the implementation to the Hilton IT system. Throughout our stay the “computer” said no to us billing our room for anything, with staff recommending us to “check our credit card” and pay cash. Front desk apologied but throughout our stay was not able to solve the issue.
To this date we have not been awarded Hilton Honors points for our stay, even though three months have passed and I have made numerous complaints. Three times in a row the last two weeks I’ve gotten a reply in the “let me look in to this” category. So if you’re a loyal Hilton guest like we are - partly because of the possibilities in the points system - stay elsewhere. It’s not worth the hassle.
Subsequently we have been charged just over 200$ too much to our credit card, so make sure you check the charges and not just the bill. This have by the way not yet been refunded.
Also, expect to bring big money for extras like a comfortable sunbed on the beach (at a whopping 200$!!) or self parking at 45$. If I were to revisit, which I’m not, I would use the parking lot which is quite close and charges a mere 10$ per day.

The resort location is perfect and the beach is beautiful. Downhill from there. Problems start with check in. It was after we checked in that they told us that our room and linens would only be cleaned and changed every other day, due to being short staffed. Four of our night stays we could not use the pool, outdoor bar or firepits because they were going to be used by convention attendees. The dining facilities were also short staffed so only a few were open. Long wait times and outrageous prices ($27 for a burger) caused many of the lobby tables and chairs to be use by people who ordered restaurant carryout, doordash etc. The resort beach chairs and umbrellas ($35 /day extra) were put out late in the morning and then collected 30 to 60 minutes early in the afternoon .... again, excuse is they were short staffed. We checked out early in the morning (4am) so they emailed our bill. There were a few questionable items that needed explaining and it took 3 phone calls before getting through to accounting (the first 2 calls we never acknowledged or a call back received. Sorry Hilton, just expected more from a so called luxury resort that charged over $550 / night. There is more, but you get the picture.

We had a fantastic stay from start to finish and would highly recommend The Diplomat to just about anyone. The staff was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful throughout our stay. This includes everyone from the valet parking/bellhops, front desk, housekeeping staff, pool attendants, waitstaff, bartenders...I wish I could remember each of their names to give them the recognition they deserve and am sorry that I didn't keep a list for purposes of this review. We are Diamond members and even though we were staying using reward points, were upgraded to a fabulous room with a HUGE wraparound balcony. The room was spacious with 2 walls of floor to ceiling windows and the bathroom was very large. I often dislike rain shower heads but this one was perfect. The pool areas are clean and the attendants do a great job of offering chair covers along with towels. The restaurants (Monkitail, Point Royal, and Counterpoint) were all outstanding with great atmosphere and service. We were disappointed with the food at La Playa (beach front restaurant) but the view and service were excellent. We were able to get late checkout on our departure day which gave us the whole morning to enjoy the pool and beach. The fitness facility had more equipment than most hotel gyms and I had a great workout there one morning.
My only complaint was with the parking situation and price. It is $45/day for valet and $35/day for self-parking. The parking is across Ocean Drive in a large garage and easily adds 5-7 minutes to arrival and departure times. That price seemed especially high.
I could go on and on about the Diplomat and hope to return in the future.

My wife and I booked the presidential Suite for our two nights. At $1,900/night, you would expect it to be amazing.
Pros:
Big room, over 1,500 sq. ft. Great view of the ocean
Amazing restaurants. Monkitail and Prime are outstanding and eclectically very different.
Service is very good, on par with other luxury hotels.
Pool and cabanas are well kept and very nice.
Cons
The room had no safe. Really?
The "kitchen" had a Espresso machine and nothing else. No wine glasses (or glasses of any kind), no utensils, no cork screw. We had to drink the wine we brought from the glasses from the bathroom.
Carpet was stained and dirty.
There was a chewing tobacco container on the balcony half full of "juice". (I was afraid to touch it).
No water pressure in the shower, it trickled out.
House phones did not work. You had to go into the bathroom to make a call on the corded phone.
Closet light stayed on constantly. There is a limit switch to turn it off when you close it, but it didn't work.
The balcony was one of the smallest in the entire building. Our friends booked a regular room four floors down and their balcony was twice the size of ours.
I may be wrong, but when you book the best room in the entire building for $2K per night, it should be magnificent. This room was not and fell short of "Good".
Pros:
Big room, over 1,500 sq. ft. Great view of the ocean
Amazing restaurants. Monkitail and Prime are outstanding and eclectically very different.
Service is very good, on par with other luxury hotels.
Pool and cabanas are well kept and very nice.

Unfortunately, I don’t know because I don’t have any children
There are showers OUTSIDE, not private, near beach and pools.
I want to yes 100 percent when you have a package that include breakfast , now if you are Hilton honors member also it helped whether you are Gold or Diamond member you will definitely get some credit. Regarding the package I would suggest just to reach out ton the hotel directly and with the type reservation you have, they can give more details. The breakfast is definitely good and waiters very nice. Hope that help
Are you aware of how many Executive lounges are still open with Hilton in the States. I read few days ago it was 32! Yes, crazy. So I guess those are a benefit of the past till one of the big player may decide otherwise. Do you remember the day complentary food was served in economy on US domestic flights... If you want a lounge, best place for holidays is Asia!
I know that you cannot smoke on the resort premises, and the hotel entrance to the beach did have signs posted stating “No Smoking”. Having said that, I did notice a few guys smocking cigars on the upper level of the pool on the convention center side smoking cigars. Where they were smoking is about 25’ from the beach entrance - you just go down some steps.
