Love this Inn, room was perfect for a solo traveler. The free breakfast was well worth partaking in! Everyday was a yummy display breakfast items, and hot foods. The proximity to all things Gulfport let me not need to drive, which was perfect for me. Just love this place and this town!
On June 23rd I made a reservation secured with a credit card with the Peninsula Inn, and received a confirmation back via email. On August 15th, they cancelled the reservation, to my understanding because they were fully booked. How do you book a room already booked? Or why book a room already booked? Obviously they got more for the room than I was paying.
The Inn is historic complete with an old elevator that has the opening gate before the door. The rooms are decorated in old Florida style, but it is not "beachy." The host, Che, is great. He was responsive to our requests, and helped me solve an overcharge by booking.com. We were disappointed that the restaurant attached to the inn was closed for renovations, but a delicious continental breakfast was served with homemade muffins. I don't know how long the old Florida motif will be around because we heard that the renovations to the historic Inn included modernizing the vibe. I understand the desire to update the property, but losing the "vintage" feel of it would be misguided. There are still many travelers who enjoy imagining another time.
The hotel smells musty. The breakfast is very sparse. No juice if any kind only various breads to toast. Creamers-were spoiled as they are not refrigerated even though there is space I. The kitchen fridge, instead they are left on a storage rack to spoil. No ice is available, they expect you to go into the kitchen which is marked employees only and go into the freezer part of the hotel fridge and grab ice cubes. Even without Covid this is not very sanitary and likely against local health rules for a commercially used kitchen. No pool, bar and restaurant pictured is under renovation. Staff are very friendly. It appears hotel is under new management or ownership and they are striving to upgrade the hotel. The manually operated elevator adds to the charm of the hotel and the suites have a mini fridge, coffee maker and you are provided with two packs of coffee and 4 water bottles a day. The beds are very comfortable and have adjustable settings. and the wifi is complimentary. Until it is finished I would seek accommodation elsewhere. Parking is ample and the beach is a short walk. Lots of restaurants in the area. Effects of long term Covid closures is evident as some local shops have closed down permanently. Convenience store is a short 5 minute walk which sells ice.…
This hotel is beyond excellent!! The owners are awesome. Everything was perfect. Beautiful hotel to stay, super comfortable beds, including tv, very nice bathrooms with hot water. Bedrooms a/c super cold and delicious and fresh breakfast every morning. Walking distance from restaurants, small stores, beach. I’m already planning our next trip to this amazing hotel. Thank you for making my honeymoon so special.
Even though the hotel was under renovation it was a very pleasent stay. The staff is very service oriented and did everything possible for you as a guest. Stayed in room Katmandu with a magnificent bed. Also the elevator is worth mentioning, simply amazing. The restaurant was closed due to the renovation. Hope to come back soon to see this lovely hotel in it's full glory. Gulfport is a very relaxed place with many nice bars and restaurants.
My least favorite part about traveling is the quality of the mattress. Even large hotel changes I have found the mattress to be absolutely horrible. The mattress at this Inn was amazing. A wonderful night rest. The hotel was perfectly situated. The breakfast was amazing. The hotel staff treated us like we were long time friends visiting, always greeting us and asking if we needed anything. I cannot wait to see the renovations
I had a one night stay. I had chosen the room I wanted to stay since there are themed rooms. I had even called back to change because the first room I chose looked very small on the website. After starting the check in process, I was showed to a room, but not what I had chosen. When I asked, was told my room was given to a couple who decided to stay the week. No apology was given. No offer for another choice. Perhaps the other party could have changed rooms? . I was looking forward to the room that looked colorful and cheerful to me got my short stay. The room I was given had brown and neutral colors. I am a person who loves color. Also the woman who checked me spoke curtly and I had the feeling of being talked down to. Because I was staying one night versus 7, I was given diminished priority. The treatment from her did affect my stay as I did not feel at all welcome. Will never stay there again.…
And I do not mean only the food. i am a very frequent and seasoned world traveler, blessed to voyage year around. This unique and multifaceted gem, peopled with patient and awesome staff, is my new benchmark, but i do not anticipate finding a comparable experience at any other place.
We liked our room. The breakfast was great. I loved the omelette, had lots of spinach in it which I enjoy, Strolling the town was fun. We happened to be there on a Tuesday when there is a market to explore. We didn't buy anything but it was to walk the town again, We discovered a great coffee house across the street from the in - which also has great coffee. Great fun.
