The Laurel Oak Inn is a five room bed and breakfast offering a luxury home away from home. We are located blocks from Gainesville's vibrant downtown and nestled in a quiet, residential and historic neighborhood one mile from the eastern edge of the University of Florida campus. We hope you enjoy the comfort and tranquility of the beautiful property. Our 1885 Queen Anne Victorian was completely restored to its natural beauty in 1999. We offer a buffet breakfast each morning between 8:30 - 10 AM and our guests can choose to dine at any location on the property (dining room, kitchen area, living room, front porch, side porch, or the outdoor tables). Our beds are luxurious, our bathtubs all have jets, our common areas are elegant and comfortable, and our outdoor areas are cozy.

My husband and I booked a 2-night stay at The Laurel Oak Inn right before Christmas 2020. We are both rather picky about the rooms we stay in, especially regarding cleanliness and privacy.

When we arrived, it was late, and a sweet cat immediately let us know we were home! He greeted us near our car, and waited for us to pet him (don't worry if you are allergic to cats, they don't come inside). The house was so warm and inviting, and the instructions we were given took us right through the house (on the original hard wood floors) upstairs to our bedroom.

Our room was warm and cozy, with its own over-sized tub, shower, and toilet, as well as a large, comfy bed and fireplace. The room has lots of privacy and is very comfortable and clean. The guest refrigerator had plenty of drinks to keep us hydrated throughout our stay.

In the morning, Nan and Dave greeted us for breakfast. I have lots of food allergies, and Nan went to a lot of trouble to prepare something I could eat. The food was fresh and delicious.

I feel like Nan and Dave are our new best friends! They are kind, efficient and gracious, and once you meet them, you will know you made the right choice.

This is the highest quality, 5-star Bed & Breakfast in which we have stayed! Do not hesitate to book if you are looking for comfort, location, and great food. The pictures don't do it justice. I know how difficult it is for picky travelers to choose a place to stay... you can never tell what the place is really like, if it will be clean, and comfortable, etc., but trust me, this one checks all the boxes!

I took my two girls to Gainesville for the Memorial Day Weekend and booked Cumberland Suite at the Laurel Oak Inn for two days. The lodging arrangement made the world of a difference for an otherwise uncommentable vacation. Nan and Dave made us feel welcome right off the bat. The property is maintained spotless and shows the hosts' attention to details at every level. We enjoyed great service and gourmet food hand made by Nan on both mornings. They were even so thoughtful of changing the table runner and napkins to pink for my girls. Our room was very well situated and the bathtub was a hit. I love the bathrobe enough to buy one from their gift shop to take home. Above all, Nan and Dave’s hospitality was unparalleled by any Bed and Breakfast places that I have stayed. We would highly recommend this place!

My wife and I selected the Laurel Oak Inn for an overnight destination on our "snowbird" trek to Florida based upon their membership in Select Registry. The inn was everything we could possibly have hoped for. It was impeccably clean, beautifully decorated, and comfortable in every way. Our room had in incredibly comfortable bed, a nicely appointed bathroom, and a very nice set of amenities. Everything was spotless. The common spaces, including the indoor parlor, the kitchen lounge area, side porch, and backyard tables were very comfortable and well cared for. Upon our arrival we were cheerfully greeted by the owner Nan, who gave us a comprehensive introduction to the inn. She offered us complimentary wine upon arrival, which we thankfully enjoyed after dinner. Fresh ground, locally roasted coffee was available and plentiful in the morning before and during breakfast. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. All things considered, I would have to rate the Laurel Oak as one of the finest B&Bs my wife and I have ever stayed in over the last 30 years. As a final note, I should mention that my review is based upon my professional expertise, having owned a top rated bed and breakfast for 17 years. My wife and I have high expectations and know exactly what to look for. Our standards are VERY high, and the Laurel Oak Inn delivered. I seriously doubt you'll find another B&B in Gainesville that will even come close to the Laurel Oak Inn.

The Laurel Oak Inn is, without a doubt, an absolute treasure to be savored and enjoyed. Nan and Dave oversee every meticulous detail to make your stay pleasurable, comfortable and memorable.

This was our 2nd visit and there is a reason for that. We have been graciously received each time and we are made to feel like family and warmly welcomed into the experience that is the LOI. This should be the model for every B&B out there! Each room is absolutely beautiful, finely appointed and decorated with an eye conducive to the historical ambience of this gorgeous home. Be sure to take the time to explore all of the nuances and character it has to offer.

Nan's breakfasts are legendary and scrumptious! Delightful starters serve as the gateway to some of the most memorable breakfast entrees we have ever had. Nan is truly a culinary maestro in the kitchen!

Dave is a great host who is friendly, affable, engaging and knowledgeable. If you need directives or information about dining and things to do in the Gainesville area, they will provide you with anything that you need to know.

Do not pass up on this jewel of the South! If you seek charm, gracious hospitality, wonderful food and beautiful, comfortable historic rooms, plan your visit soon! Nan and Dave are two of the most genuine and nicest people you will ever meet. You will feel welcomed as soon as you walk through the door.

We guarantee you will love it and return many times in the future!

I needed a few days off from the craziness of life and choose The Laurel Oak Inn to get some long overdue rest and relaxation. My stay there was all I imagined and more. The Innkeepers are kind and so attentive to all your needs. The breakfast each morning included fresh blueberries from their blueberry trees and the most amazing chocolate chip banana bread (I’m hoping to get the recipe from their next newsletter). The room I chose was the Chesnut Suite which has the added bonus of a screened in Lanai which provided a quiet retreat for reading or just listening to the birds. The bed was heavenly and I never wanted for anything during my stay. If your looking for the perfect place to stay in Gainesville, The Laurel Oak Inn is it. Thank you Nan, Dave and Rusty for fulfilling my dream to escape from my hectic life for a few days.

We have stayed at all of the Gainesville B-and-B's near downtown and this one is far and away our favorite. The innkeepers are both delightful people, the breakfasts are delicious, and the inn is beautifully restored and decorated. You will feel so welcome it's almost like staying in your own home (except it's always clean and gorgeous!)

On a recent spur of the moment car trip from Missouri to Miami, we stopped in Gainesville after a 12 hour travel day. An internet search led us to the Laurel Oak Inn and what a gem this was! We arrived about dinner time and inn owner Nan gave us great advice on a local restaurant within walking distance (we did NOT want to get back in the car after 12 hours). The Inn is just a short walk to several restaurants and in normal - not Covid times- I imagine the place is buzzing! Our room was spacious, the bed was extremely comfortable and the whole place was lovely. Nan was a gracious host and we had a lovely chat over coffee the next morning. Since we were continuing on to Miami, we couldn't linger too long but would have liked to. I highly recommend the Laurel Oak Inn!

My husband and I were driving back home from Blairsville,GA. We knew we needed a very comfortable bed, a fire place, a hot tub ( inside our room), and a delicious breakfast in the am. I went online & after carefully researching for the perfect place; we knew that this was it! It met all of the requirements plus more.
Nan & Dave we’re the absolute perfect host. We added a charcuterie board because, we knew we needed a snack after 7 1/2 hours of driving. Nan called me to get as many details as possible to make our experienced an incredible one. I am a vegetarian & my husband is allergic to shellfish. She accommodated us with a delicious fresh made breakfast. They also have a guest refrigerator that is packed with soft drinks, waters, beer, hard seltzer and a nice bottle of wine. The home is EXTREMELY clean, beautifully decorated and the back yard was breathtaking. The Natchez Suite had a very comfortable king size bed & pillows, it has an AMAZING large Hot tub (fits 2 people), tv, private bathroom and a fire place (that actually works). The neighborhood felt very safe and quiet. Walking distance to a few places in an active community. I highly recommend this place!!💕💗💕We will be back to visit soon! Thank you again Nan & Dave for the OUTSTANDING Hospitality! We loved every minute of our stay! Absolutely the Best!

Fresh citrus juice from the garden was just one of many details that made our stay special. The historic home and garden are beautiful and well maintained. We stayed in the first floor bedroom that has an ADA certified bathroom with grab-bars. The hosts were welcoming, warm, and responsive to special requests. They prepared a breakfast of quiche, sausage, and fresh fruit. We plan to return next year on our annual drive to Florida for the holidays.

None of the room descriptions mention twin beds, but the owners may be able to supply a rollaway. Give them a call. You might want to check on the shower location in your room. Our shower was not in the bathroom, but was in the bedroom. It had huge curtains and a jacuzzi tub, but not the privacy that a father and daughter might want.
