I have a serious complaint.

My complaint is I have NOTHING to complain about and that's really, really hard.

I stayed in the Magnolia Room for three nights and loved every second of it. I loved my breakfasts in the lazy morning sun, I loved your cat that always came up to me and demanded cuddles. I loved the location after a soulless experience at a Gainesville hotel next to five hospitals. I loved my banter with Cindy, the small pond, the many statues of Francis of Assisi, and the house itself that looked like ghosts would visit at night, but they never materialized. Or if they did, they were friendly ghosts who whispered, "sleep well, but please don't snore."

If I ever come back to Gainesville, it's a no-brainer where I'm going to stay.

So, keep up the good work for a century or two. That's all we're asking.

The cozy, comfortable and clean cottage, the nature-inspired grounds with meandering brick walks lined by "old Florida" plants, the friendly hosts, Joe and Cindy, and the delicious breakfasts were just as we remembered. Magnolia Plantation is an assembly of cottages surrounding the Victorian main house. "Miss Huey's Cottage" is a charming two bedroom, one bath with delightful living areas including a light-infused sunroom appointed as a dining room and sitting area. We would definitely recommend Magnolia Plantation to friends.

Thank you so much! We loved welcoming you back to our family! Miss Huey's Cottage is one of our favorites and the sunroom is a huge reason why. We'd relax in there all day if possible. Come again soon! We'll make sure breakfast is even better than you remembered.

We reserved Beth's Courtyard as it had the most accessible bathroom as an accommodation. The "cottage" was as cute and cozy as it could be with a well stocked mini kitchen, separate bedroom and walk in shower. Our little courtyard was so pleasant; unfortunately the weather wasn't terribly cooperative. I would love to have been able to sit outside with a glass of wine listening to the fountains. Maybe next time!
The attention to detail is impressive and COVID awareness is at the forefront. Afternoon wine and snacks are served to individual units these days as is the well prepared breakfast. Cindy and Joe are delightful hosts as is Kassidy. We had a minor issue with WIFI service and it was resolved in short order.

Hi Kathy. Thank you for your kind words! We really enjoyed having y'all. The past year has been crazy for everyone and we worked hard to keep our same level of customer service--from wine and snacks to fixing wifi--while adapting to a new normal, so it means a lot to hear it has been appreciated. Come back soon! We'll try to dial up better weather this time.

We had a wonderful stay at the Nutmeg cottage at Magnolia Plantation B&B with our dog. The property feels like a secret garden with lush vegetation, brick pathways, and trickling fountains throughout. It is located within walking distance of the downtown area and biking/driving distance of UF. The cottage itself was beautifully maintained and really showed pride of ownership through its cleanliness, attention to detail in the decor, and amenities. Thank you for the amazing stay!

The common rooms are lovely and when you park you're greeted by a lovely pond with running water. I arrived late and that was no problem because they have a contactless check-in. My room, the Jasmine is comfy but not luxurious. But for its class of lodging, it's just right. Cookies and wine were waiting in the room. Lovely and comfortable. I always write my reviews my first night so don't know about breakfast yet. I had no idea Gainesville had these old historic houses and learning the history is great. I'd definitely try out this gem. I can't wait to look at the grounds tomorrow.

We just arrived home in Spring Hill Fl after our two night stay at Magnolia Plantations to celebrate our 42nd anniversary. We have stayed in quite a few B&Bs so we say this to note good and not so good. GOOD: Cindy let us stay in a separate cottage with more room. Initial reception was very pleasant and hospitable. Magnolia is very historical with a notable record in Gainsville. Joe and Cindy have done a wonderful job of restoration for over 30 years. NOT SO GOOD: Cindy makes breakfast herself but at no time lets her guests know what is on the next days menu nor inquires of their desires. Simply makes it and put it on table. Take or leave it. Also, the owners seemed to be unconcerned with conversing with all guests at the all important breakfast, instead, ignoring and speaking only to selected ones. Nutmeg cottage is nice but the wood dining table is made for midgets (my wife is only 5'2" inches tall and could barely fit her legs under table). To be truly great hosts, hospitality needs to remain long after initial check in.

Thank you for your comments and for noticing the amount of work we have put into the restoration of our Inn and cottages. Joe certainly enjoyed talking to you at breakfast the first morning. While we enjoy talking to our guests, the following morning the other guests wanted to hear about the history of our home and what made us decide to open our Inn. We always welcome all guests to chat with us and each other. While the rise and rung on the staircase are shorter and narrower, the furniture including tables and couches are also shorter and closer to the ground. We chose to not change any of the built-in parts of the house or cottages. We certainly hope your next Bed and Breakfast can meet your needs.

My husband and I have been coming here with our two little puppies for years. It’s our go to place in Gainesville. Joe and Cindy are always so friendly and welcoming they make you feel like family, and they are always quick to help with anything you need. The Magnolia Plantation is a beautiful old Florida Inn with several Cottages, all very clean and charmingly decorated. There are peaceful water features incorporated into the lovely grounds surrounding the property. Great downtown restaurants and Depot Park are all within walking distance. We look forward to staying here again on our next visit.

My friend and I stayed in Jessica’s Closet cottage at Magnolia Plantation for a long weekend while we visited another friend who lives in Gainesville and took in the sights. It was a perfect choice with two beautiful and comfortable bedrooms, a cozy living room and a bright sunroom both with two couches for good visiting, a super well-equipped kitchen so we could make our meals as much as we chose, and a beautiful private court yard. Although it didn’t apply to us, I liked seeing that they even had some equipment and toys for children in a closet along with games for anyone. The location is a convenient walk to a lot of places we wanted to go. The only person we met who works there was Amy and she was a delightful and very helpful person. I would definitely return and recommend this place to others. The whole place is well-maintained and clean with surprising loving details everywhere.

Cindy and Joe made everything super easy, very comfortable, and a wonderful breakfast I hope our kids never forget it. We are a family of five and a friend suggested to stay at The Magnolia Plantation. We stayed in the secret garden cottage and loved everything about it. The grounds and houses are beautiful. I wish we had more time to stay and explore more of the House. Easy parking felt like we had plenty of room as a family and meeting old friends. Breakfast was the most charming and delightable experience. Great conversations and the orange juice kept coming. Great breakfast while surrounded with beautiful gardens and such charming place. We hope to come down and stay longer at The Magnolia Plantation.

We loved our stay at Magnolia Plantation. I called before making the reservation and spoke with the owner, Lynn. She made me feel very comfortable with the safety measures they were taking during the Covid pandemic. This was our first time staying outside our home in 10 months and it was perfect. We stayed in the Cinnamon guest cottage and loved it. Comfortable, warm, and inviting with everything we needed. Enjoyed our meal on the porch. You will not find more friendly hosts. I left 2 things that I needed (meds) and Lynn let me know before I missed it and her husband Chris made a special effort to have it sent to me overnight. A great experience. Will certainly stay there again if in the area.
