Third trip to Fort Walton and this was the worst unit and most expensive we have stayed. We were charged $2,400 for 5 nights. Upon entry to unit 1306 the smell was musty and moldy. It was worse in the living area. The furniture was old and worn. The coffee pot and dryer was rusted. I had a white garment come out with brown rust stains. Our guest bed didn’t have a fitted sheet. The floor was filthy. I know it wasn’t mopped before we got there and really don’t think it has been mopped for a very long time. One trip across a room barefoot or with socks and they were black. The people at the office were nice enough but these condo owners need to maintain their rentals. It was like renting a car from 1980 that has never had an oil change or tune up. And we were charged 2022 prices not 1980 that’s for sure. Save your vacation and look elsewhere. There are nicer ones than this. Oh and also the parking lot floods. We had six inches of water to walk through to get to our vehicle one day.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. All was fine until 2 neighboring condos began construction. We were never notified this would occur when we booked. We woke up to incessant banging that could be heard in every room of our penthouse unit, and could even be heard outside from the beach! But the real issue was how the situation was handled (or rather not handled). After 3 polite calls and 1 visit to the front office, no one even reached out to ask how they could help. I just wanted to request a few hours to stop the noise so my 1 year old could nap… The situation escalated and the front office said they didn’t have to do anything about it (per my rental agreement). I said I would be giving a bad review, and the staff literally said “Well I’ll still collect my pay check.” And LAUGHED. I am disgusted at the complete lack of empathy the staff showed. I’ve stayed at this building every year for the last 5 years, and I will never stay again.

Crystal, I do apologize for the noise that started after 9am in units on other floors. During the slower months our owners take care of upgrades in their units. The contractors that were doing the work are very punctual and are on a time-line. Our staff works very hard to keep guests notified of situations, sometimes, owners start projects in their unit without notifying the office. Your review is very one-sided and I am sure that is your perception of exactly what happened. I have heard three different stories on how your complaint was handled. It really is a shame that the communication, and perceptions had a negative impact on your visit. I assure you, The Nautilus is a fabulous place to stay, and numerous other guests that were here during the same time period were very understanding of the noise between the hours of 9-5. I hope your next vacation meets all your expectations!

Excellent location on beach and in the building. Unit #1202 with one bedroom. Only one floor up so easy to use the stairs. Ocean views from the living area and bedroom. Listening to the waves crash while falling asleep cannot be overrated! Units on the ground floor have easier access, but to me are less attractive as they can see only the dunes, not the ocean. The condo building is not new, but has interesting architecture and is nicely maintained. Carts are provided for move in and move out. Two elevators and multiple staircases, so good accessibility. Our unit is a pretty awesome rental nicely furnished and mostly in good condition. The master bathroom had some improvements over the years, but is still somewhat stuck in the 80's (cream colored laminate cabinets with oak top edges, and mermaid decorative prints on some of the tiles ). The edges of the laminate bathroom cabinets are starting to peel. Molding could use some touchup painting. The corners of the bathroom could have been cleaned a little more thoroughly (a little dark grime in the corners next to the tub which you can see in the photo). Those are really just nits though - had a great time and would highly recommend.

This was my 12th or 13th vacation taken at the Nautilus and it will also be my last. My family has been staying there for approximately 12 years now, sometimes multiple times per year. We have always stayed a minimum of of 7 days during the summer and in the most recent years 16 nights per visit. The quality of this condo has drastically gone down to an almost unacceptable level. When we arrived this year we had several issues, the ice maker was broken, the oven did not work along with 1 burner that would not come on and 1 that would not always turn off, and the lounge on the balcony had a large rip in it making it unusable as well. The towels provided were basically stained rags and there wasn’t enough for a family of 4 to use once. The sheets were stained and tattered. The ice maker never got repaired, the stove was replaced 2 days before our departure. Not to mention the elevator broke at least 6 out of the 16 days we were there. Several days prior to our departure we tried to make reservations for summer 2022. There has been a 55% price increase (they must be trying to pay for the new paint on the building) over the summer 2021 prices, on the unit we requested for the same length of stay and during the same time frame. They mention a million dollar view on their website, now it will almost cost you that much to stay there. When I asked to speak to management, I was ignored. I made several additional requests to speak to management with no reply. Our family and friends occupied 6 units there this summer and were planning on doing the same for 2022. With the lack of communication from management, we will be taking our business elsewhere. We felt like we were imposing on them rather than welcomed by them as we were in years past. The Nautilus is now the 3rd most expensive condo on the island. Do yourself a favor and do a little looking, you will find a better quality unit for a better price and much better management.

Billy, I am so sorry that you had those issues during your stay. The 2021 season was unexpectedly busy and we were not prepared, We had limited staff. The GM changed, the rental staff changed, and the housekeeping staff was changed. Dealing with shortage of staff, and lack of linens and supplies globally due to COVID. Not an excuse for your experience, I just wanted to respond and apologize for the lack of communication. We are hoping when things slow down to a gentle roar we can focus on deep cleans, purchase new linens, and focus on training of the new staff.

Condo had a great location with a great view of the beach. The 2 bedroom condo was very spacious for my family of five. It was a great value for the price. Would definitely go back again with my family.

We booked the month of September had a 2 BR Oceanfront condo, great view and nice condo. Beach access and rented chairs. Hurricane Sally came while we were there with lots of rain and wind. Our MBR sliding glass door leaked we used towels and mop to pick up almost 3 buckets. Cheryl the Manager and her staff were great with daily email communications . Power was out for 2 days then came back on with only 110 and not 220 so no AC. Fortunately cool weather. Cheryl kept following up with Gulf Power to get it restored and repair crews. . Glad we rented at Nautilus will return to it and beautiful Okaloosa Island. Thanks Richard and Darlene, Seniors Texas

I will start off with a positive about this Condo, the view is spectacular and was exactly as it is in the pictures of this condo, however the Condo is very dated! The furniture is very worn out and for our stay the Condo was not very clean. The chusions kept coming out of the sofa in the living room, and over all the furniture just was not comfortable. I think this condo has great potential if the furniture were up to date and maybe if it was cared for a little bit more, overall I would not book again unless its updated, also the price was steep I expected alot more for my money, I think I will stay at the Island Princess next time..... 😕

I am sorry to hear that the furniture was so uncomfortable. We will make sure that the owner is made aware. The cleaning has been addressed and we have moved forward with a new team.

We just returned from a 4 day trip. The Nautilus had a wonderful staff. They had our room ready early. We were in 1603. The room was one of the cleanest we have ever seen. The inside could be updated. We loved the hardwood floors. The location on the beach was great. The free beach chairs were great. The guys who ran those did a fantastic job. Our only issue was the outside of the condo. It looked a little run down. The elevator had no ventilation and was hot. During COVID, this was scary. We did not like the pool being on the parking lot side but that is ok since we like the ocean more. We never received a parking pass which was odd. We wanted to grill out but the grills were by the trash so we decided against it. Overall it's a good place to stay.

I'm glad you enjoyed our stay with us! The elevators have been an ongoing issue because of the lack of AC built in--we do have the social distancing signs up and guests should not be crowding the elevator. The antibacterial dispensers were delayed due to shipping issues and just got installed in each elevator on the tail end of your visit. The grill area is actually near the recycling---unfortunately a lot of people do put trash in it! I do wish you would have stopped by the office and we would have taken care of any issue that we have the ability too---the sanitation kit that we provide to each guest should have had your parking pass in it along with the spray and local magazines. I do hope you come back to visit us! Cheryl, GM
