Just returned from a 7 night stay. Service was outstanding and can’t say enough about the location and amenities. This was our first stay with our two small granddaughters and they had a great time also.

Hotel's Favorite
My family and I stayed at the Pink Shell Resort from April 5-9 and it was one of the best vacations we have ever had. After a very difficult year including the loss of close family members and all of our family trips being cancelled, we desperately needed a vacation to relax, heal, and recharge - and Pink Shell gave us exactly the vacation and family time we needed in every way. Everything from the amenities, food, beach proximity, service, and activities was close to perfect. One of the highlights of our trip was the kayak tour with Ranger Rob, it was AWESOME! Ranger Rob knew exactly where to go to spot some dolphins and they swam right under our kayaks. We had such a great time, the first thing we did when we got home was buy our own kayaks. Ranger Rob took the time to answer all of our questions and he was so knowledgeable. Our 4 year old son Hunter also participated in the Junior Ranger program and absolutely loved it. He learned so much from Ranger Rob and even my husband and I learned some things too. I would definitely recommend taking advantage of all of his programs for kids and especially the kayak tour! Our time at the Pink Shell far exceeded our expectations. The hotel referred us to Happy Baby Rentals so we could rent a full size crib for my 2 year old, and they were also wonderful to work with. My husband and I loved trying out the Standup paddle boards (it's harder than it looks!) and every single meal we had at the resort was wonderful. The food and drink service at the pool and beach were amazing. The rooms we had (White Sands Villas) were clean, spacious, had a great screened in balcony, and the beds were very comfortable. Everyone we met at the hotel was so kind and helpful. There is nothing I would have changed from our trip except to have stayed an extra week!

Booked this way back in January and we were not disappointed. The rooms are clean, bed comfortable and we even had a washer and dryer. The beach is groomed daily and we took out one of the kayaks which was fun We spent all of our pool time at the adult pool but the family pool looked nice too. Breakfast at Jack's was far better than we expected with a variety of options to choose from Will be back for another stay.

Just spent another fun week at the Pink Shell!! Last trip was in November, so the weather was better, but the shelling was zero. This is a super clean beach, walked it daily at 6 am, very little trash or seaweed. I wanted to shout out to Ranger Rob, he took us on a kayak tour, began right behind hotel. Was a super nice row out to mangroves, he is SO knowledgeable about every thing that flies or swims!!! But the best part was finding a little family of manatees in the middle of the bay!!!! The baby came right up to our kayak and took a peek at us. I have never seen a manatee in the wild, check this off my bucket list!!! You will not find a more positive, fun, smart tour guide in the state of florida! DO NOT HESITATE to book a trip with this guy. We also took a wave runner trip to look at wild life from the watersports place on the beach. First off, this is not for everyone. Both my daughters, who are almot 40, were very intimidated on this machine with kids on the back. The ocean waters were smooth at the time, but still was a rough slow ride. Slow, because the girls would not go fast enough to keep up and the guide had to stop and let them catch up alot. After driving 7 miles to find something, we saw nothing. I loved the ride, im 65 and female, but a bit of a thrill seeker. But if you are riding to see nature, you may be dissapointed, go with Rob instead, better chances and you will learn alot. But I enjoyed the riding, as did the kids hanging on our backs. But another warning. My 11 year old grandson, and my soninlaw BOTH had their thighs sunburn. We lathered up with sunscreen before taking off, but when the boys sat down, their shorts pulled up exposing their thighs, that were not sprayed. My grandson got so burned, he had to leave a day early and has blisters on his thighs. So i cant stress enough to make sure you have applied everywhere. Also you can bring some water and sunscreen on the waverunner, its a long trip!!! You still have to wear a mask at breakfast buffet, bit annoying but worth it. Go early, it gets crowded around 8:30. Chairs also fill up quick now, not supposed to save, but I did every day, there were 8 of us. Plenty of chairs on the beach, but everybody wants to sit front row. Mostly people with small kid so they can dig and swim close to short. We at at Rae’s day of arrival, but service was so slow. Food was OK, but not really up to the prices. Eat at bongos during the day, very good food. Pool became party pool on saturday with DJ, was quite fun! Sunday they had candy bingo, loved it. Also kids tye-dyed shirts this time, very nice. Most things are additional cost for kids, but Ranger Rob does some free stuff, take advantage of it all!!!! I spent one day at adult pool, super nice!! Ali, cocktail waitress here and there, such a sweet girl!!! Made you feel well cared for. Jason from the watersports beach house was so sweet with the kids. Put boards out for them far away from entry point so they didnt drift too far away from our seat. Rollaway bed was $40 a day, high priced, and was awful. I turned back in and we put cushions from outside chairs on bedroom floor and that was better than rollaway. Check in and out super simple. Turtles starting to travel on the beach, that will add some fun. At night we walked to town and ate at Nervous nellies, very good food and nice views. Also the Pier was fun, live music, and the shrimp burger was great!!! Doc fords is very busy so make reservations, but be sure to eat there. Fabulous trip!!

ROOM - BLACK MOLD: Our family was given a room with black mold. We only discovered this after seeing the dishwasher was leaking, and upon further investigation, obviously had been leaking for a long time. Cabinet wood was completely soft / rotted out and covered in mold. We could only see what was on the exterior of the cabinet, but I can imagine behind the dishwasher there was much more. My wife was having bad allergies, and we all had itchy eyes and either a cough or itchy throat. Tell tale symptoms of mold exposure. We didn't think much of it until we discovered the mold. What was especially infuriating about this was that we had our 7 month old with us. It is a terrible lack of attention to detail and cleanliness to let a mold infestation get to that point, AND put paying customers with children in that room! When we notified the front desk, they were very lackadaisical about it. "What time do you want us to clean it tomorrow" they asked me. I couldn't believe I had to explain to them that you can't just "clean" black mold and it's "gone". It must be removed properly, and with the damage to the cabinets and leaking dishwasher, it wasn't going to be a quick fix. They ended up moving us to another room for that night, then to another room for the duration of our stay, which was satisfactory. What was the most disappointing and frustrating, was that they had been willfully negligent and exposed our family to that for 5 days before I discovered it. My wife was sick almost the entire vacation. Could it have been something else making her sick, sure, but I doubt it. She started getting better once we left that room. STAFF RESPONSE: It was very annoying to bring something so serious to the staff and be given the "canned" "we're so sorry for your inconvenience" response. I was treated like I was telling them the shower water wasn't hot enough or something silly. It was black mold. Not a joke, not something to treat like everything else. This illustrated their lack of training in dealing with a variety of situations. The musical chairs of switching rooms twice also resulted in us wasting the good part of one of our days of vacation, and they only provided us with one night free for our "inconvenience", even though they provided us with dangerous accommodations for 5 nights. Also - Tub drain plug wasn't working, and I had to ask them twice to get it fixed. OTHERWISE, the rooms were average. There were a lot of minor repairs needed to make them look "polished", it was obvious they are quite behind on routine maintenance. Tile work was super messy, paint chipping / missing on cabinets, dishwashers were super loud, cracks and crevices' were caked in dust and grime. Beds were very comfortable, and view was amazing. They REALLY need to step up the cleaning and take more time to maintain a higher standard, especially for the price they are charging! SMOKE - Maybe it's just a Florida thing, but as a family of all non-smokers, we couldn't seem to go anywhere to get away from smoke! People would smoke on their balcony and the smoke would of course pollute the surrounding area, so we rarely used our balcony. There was a garbage / ashtray next to the elevators, so smokers would smoke next to the elevators, making you have to walk through the stench almost every time you got off the elevator to your room. I wasn't sure if smoking was permissible at the pool area, but smokers would go over to the back corner of the pool area to smoke, and it would, of course, make its way to us. The resort needs to manage the smoking rules better because its a MAJOR reason for non-smokers to never want to come back. FOOD - Food was surprisingly good. We ate at BONGOS many times and everything we had was great. The dining room for breakfast was not a comfortable room to be in, they can definitely make that room more inviting with calmer lighting or something, but who wants to eat inside anyway?? They need to start making a serving REAL ICED COFFEE! 5 stars overall on the food! RANGER ROB - Rob was AMAZING! We did the kayak tour with him, and he was CERTAINLY a highlight of the trip. That really took a lot of the disappointment away from our room experience. He is super friendly, knowledgeable, and provided great education about the environment / ecosystem and wildlife in the area. I only wish we did more of his activities while we were there! MY one recommendation would be to put on the sign and/or the website that you should reserve these far in advance because many of them were full. MASSAGE WITH DAWN - If I lived in the Ft Myers area I would get a massage with Dawn WEEKLY. She was amazing, and was VERY obviously a master at her craft. As an athlete that gets massaged regularly as a part of my recovery, I have had many therapists and it was apparent the moment she started that she was one of the best therapists I had ever had. I hope we meet again Dawn!!! WAIT STAFF - All of the wait staff were great. Friendly and fun, and always looking to get you something. That what one would expect. Shoutout to Pumie, who waited on us many times during our stay and always put a smile on our faces. VALET - They were all super friendly and fast! Great valet service and great people operating that part of the resort. POOL - The pool was a great feature, and all the kids loved it. There was usually plenty of space to find chairs for the whole family. Only feedback is to have 2 locations for getting and returning towels as it was annoying to have to wait in line multiple times to get/return towels. Also, some of the lounge chairs need a deep cleaning and/or replacement, and maintenance should be more diligent about hunting down and cleaning bird poop on the chairs, as many chairs had dried up old bird poop on them. BEACH - Beautiful beach, beach staff was great, and beach furniture was always plentiful for you. They prepared the beach very well every day, raking and cleaning it.

Hi Dan, As our staff informed you upon following up with your accusations of "black mold" in your room, we did send a sample to a lab and it was not mold at all and no injury resulted from this incident.
