We were there on business but it was comforting to be able to enjoy a solid Marriott stay near Sanibel. The property is in great shape for an older place. The rooms are comfortable, clean and somewhat modern. I really enjoyed my breakfast and server was friendly and fast. Wish I had time for the buffet and the pool! Next time!

The hotel was clean and I am very picky when it comes to hotels. The Captiva building we stayed in was recently renovated and bathrooms were roomy and great. Although the staff was very friendly they weren’t knowledgeable in what to do in surrounding areas but Casey at front desk was very helpful. And you had to keep asking for water bottles and the drink and food prices are a bit high for what you get. No activities no beach so it can get a little boring but a great place to unwind, relax, pools and eat especially when you are being served by Costin at the Tarpon restaurant he was o friendly and personable we would go eat there just to see him. The restaurants need improving as far as menu and they need to offer more snacks foods and vegan options but there’s Bimini Bait Shack within walking distance we spent a fun filled evening there. All in all it was good time for first time visitors and we will go back and stay longer.

This was a nice hotel but did not have a beach. There is however a dining cruise you can take. Relaxing outdoor bar is great to watch sports late at night while relaxing with a drink. Breakfast can be had al fresco or inside.

We stayed here for 2 nights in July 2021 - we are coming out of a pandemic, so I did not expect perfection. We were pleased to see the hotel got some things RIGHT: The staff is outstanding; the food in the restaurants was excellent; the pool was great, plenty of towels and comfortable chairs. We rented kayaks ($60 for 2 singles for two hours) and that process was smooth and easy. They also rent jet skis and paddle boards. Check-in was easy and efficient. Plenty of elevators, never had to wait long. The "cons" list: Musty smells in room and corridors, uncomfortable bed, no refrigerator or microwave in our room. Both had been removed leaving an empty cabinet - a tiny NON-WORKING refrigerator was placed on the floor, monopolizing the only electric outlet that could be accessed. The A/C never got the room cool enough. There was non-stop construction noise all day every day - one rainy afternoon when we were trying to nap we were told it would end at 5 PM. It did not. The jackhammering could be heard in on each floor of the building and outside - that's how loud it was. When we checked out I left a letter for management; my letter was never acknowledged, nor were any of my complaints when I told the front desk staff. I did not want to post a negative review and hoped they'd make things right. Their refusal to respond is most discouraging. We are Marriott Platinum Level members, I can't imagine how guests are treated who don't have this alleged preferential status. I asked an employee if the hotel was full, and I was told it was not. I can't understand why were we placed in a room without a refrigerator or working A/C. When researching this property, prior to booking I noticed that someone responds to these reviews, which gave me the false illusion that management cares about their guest's experiences. Unfortunately, we were disappointed by our experience with this property.

This hotel is extremely disappointing. As a platinum member with a lot of experience with Marriott properties, my husband and I were shocked at the condition of this property. The fact that Marriott considers it a category 6 is ridiculous. It needs so much refurbishment that I could not list everything here. We were told by the management that they were supposed to do a complete refurbishment but it was delayed because of Covid. There is no way this is true because this hotel is years over needing a refurbishment. There are three or four bikes that you can check out, but no bike or walking paths on the property. I don’t know where you would go with the bikes! The spa and facilities are closed on Monday and Tuesday still. The pools were dirty the entire time we were there. The hallways smelled terrible of mold and mildew and our allergies were awful from the mold situation! The service was good and the staff tried to address the problems, but it was way over their pay grade. Marriott really needs to reevaluate this as a resort category and definitely should not charge 12 per day for self parking and a resort fee on top of their, already high, prices!
