We stayed in the Captiva tower & loved it. The best part might have been sitting on the balcony & watching dolphins playing in the harbor below. The hotel itself was very clean with the usual, high quality linens, pillows, towels etc. I think the Captiva tower was quieter than the larger Sanibel tower & that’s what we liked. There was a golf cart “chauffeur” available anytime to take us back & forth to the Sanibel resort restaurants, bars & activities. The staff here was stellar & did everything they could to make our stay a great one. Enjoy!
Great location and nice views. Compliments end there. Hotel is greatly in need of renovations. Ancient is the best word to describe the decor. Service at restaurants and bars was generally slow and sloppy, with a lone exception being the courtside steakhouse (tremendous).
This place was a disappointment. Hotel is run-down, dirty with a motel feel couldn’t believe Marriott wouldn’t maintain it better. Under staffed unfriendly front desk almost argued with us for more towels and new bed sheets rooms “cleaned” every 3 days, barely ,dust everywhere ,ice machine was broken. They told us room refrigerators do not work, they were correct. Pillows smell, bed felt worn carpet was dirty and sticky. Just look under the bed or the head board to see the amount of cleaning they don’t do. I could go on and on. Great view though and pool & restaurant staff were great. I rate our experience 2.5 stars.
Hotel needs an updating. The rooms, although good size, are very rundown and need updating. The air furnace was filthy and didn’t have a filter, which caused a breathing problem for both of us. The rooms are only cleaned every 4th day, unless requested. There is a musty, moldy smell in the hallways which adds to the need of updating. The staff is helpful and courteous and the head pool attendant (Ricardo) is the BEST!
We tried our best to be covid understanding but this was awful!! Negative 5 stars, we had issues all day everyday we stayed, it was a long five night stay. The Marriott was a disaster!!! Wife got food poisoning from chicken sandwich. They put us in the captiva tower away from the resort , yet you still pay resort fee even though you get none of those services, think old Howard Johnson hotels for captiva, the tower is being renovated but has problems and the whole resort /place looks run down, new paint can't fix problems ... restaurants : consistently took forever and always out of something on the menu , some restaurants only allowed you to order apps , multiple restaurants our orders were wrong/never got what we ordered. Room: black stuff in sink , clogged sinks, air vents full of dust and asked twice for cleaning service and assured they would come, never did the whole trip Captiva tower has no one there , had to get waters from vending machine , which took my money twice w no product , while waters are free at sanibel tower Service at the pool: if you asked for water and didn't buy then they wouldn't come back even if your service flag was raised on the chair I called guest services at 4pm at the end of the trip and she assured me she would talk to the appropriate people and call me back. I called back at 745 and she said she tried calling a few times , my wife was in the room (food poisoning) ...she didn’t call…
