The Marriott Sanibel Harbour Resort & Spa consistently receives commendations for its cleanliness, with guests highlighting the pristine condition of its rooms and pool area. While the service is often regarded as professional and attentive, some guests have encountered lapses in responsiveness. Views from the rooms are a highlight, despite mixed comfort levels and occasional maintenance concerns. The resort's atmosphere is a blend of enjoyable entertainment and areas needing attention, such as non-operational elevators. Amenities, like the pool, are well-received when available, although some guests find the resort's pricing to not reflect the overall value and quality expected.

We stayed for a week in the Captiva tower. While it was quiet and private, the pool amenities were much less than the main Sanibel tower. With COVID protocols in place, our room was refreshed every three days, meaning that we took out our own trash and if you ran out of anything, you walked over to the main tower for toiletries. The gym was very nice and we observed housekeeping maintaining and sanitizing the facility. The nature trail walks are great. We saw many various birds, and even a small raccoon! For what we paid, even $12/day for self park, there was nothing included - no meal vouchers or anything. Since we had a small frig in the room, we paid a visit to the local Publix grocery store and bought yogurt parfaits for breakfast, along with other snacks. We sat on our balcony eating our breakfast and watching the boat traffic under the Sanibel Bridge. The daily views and the sunsets were like none other.

This is a nice resort, occupancy levels were low and we had to call for service even though our stay was for 7 days. We stayed at the Captiva Tower and also reminded them to clean the pool, once they were reminded, they cleaned it daily. The views from our room faces the causeway which was wonderful to wake up and see the sunrise and later the sunset.

We have stayed at this location approximately once a year for the last couple of years. It was a nice getaway but the experience was only OK. We used a third-party website to make our reservations. Upon arrival front desk worker tried to blame a room problem on the website. It turned out the front desk made the mistake. While they took care of us and found a suitable room it did cause unneeded stress.

As we moved into the room my wife went out to the balcony to look at the pool. She noticed that there was no furniture on the balcony. Great view, nowhere to sit and enjoy it.

If you do decide to stay at this location make sure that your room is in the Sanibel tower. Because of the room reservation issue, we were placed in Captiva tower. Captiva tower is very nice, clean, and a good place to stay. However, it is about a five minute walk from the main tower. All of the restaurants bars and other accessories are in the main tower. Stay in the Sanibel tower.

My husband and I scheduled three spa services each and planned to spend an enjoyable day relaxing. This spa is run down and OLD it is in desperate need of a remodel, there is no spa feel, look or smell. The steam room was “out of order” lounges with dirty upholstery, rust and corrosion on many areas. Showers in the ladies locker area were closed off, limited items available, only shower caps and small combs. The description for the spa pedicure included a glass of wine, when I inquired I was told none available due to COVID. Now what is the difference of them giving you a glass of water, none! Time to stop playing the COVID card, if you’re open and charging the same, serve the wine for goodness sake. Save your money if you want that “Spa experience “

We checked into our upgraded "suite" and found the bathroom to contain hair from the previous guest all over the shower. It was late at night and the 3rd shift maintenance guy had to clean it up, but didn't re-clean the shower stall. The next night, the toilet would not flush and another maintenance guy showed up and got his dirty boots all over the floor in the process. My daughter's room did not have the pull-out couch even though she was told it had been taken care of. When we brought these issues to the attention of the staff, we were told that the hotle was "fully booked" as if that was a realistic excuse. The attitude of a staffer in the "Captiva" tower was horrible, making excuses for no tea bags and no coffee during the availability time frame described. The lobby was not cleaned from the previous day with crumbs all across the carpet. This is nothing but POOR communicationa dn the Housekeeping head needs another job instead of this one. Very lousy attitides, no beach, no pool towels. Stringly suggest you make other arrangements.

I've always wanted to stay at this hotel, mainly because of its location, I fly over it whenever I go to Ft Meyers and I really enjoy the Marriott brand. However, this place is barely holding on by a thread...

They are VERY short staffed. As I talked with staff there, Marriott usually hires foreign workers to supplement the local staff and due to covid, they couldn't do that this year. They haven't been able to find enough local people to fill the void...staff is working 50-60 hours weeks to keep up, managers are trying to fill in the gaps, and the service is thoroughly lacking.

Garbage heaping out of garbage cans by the pool, complete disarray of the pool area, especially, with junk, towels, everywhere and little oversight.

I didn't get housekeeping a few days or nightly turn down service which they said was included. The mattress was terrible – back pain every morning. The pool drinks were horribly weak and the food was just average.

I know these are difficult times with the industry getting back on its feet from covid. However, they probably shouldn’t have booked TWO weddings for the weekend and completely sold out when they can’t provide adequate service. Management of course wants to and needs to recover from such a tumultuous year, but they are really struggling to make it happen in the right way.

We stayed here roughly 8 years ago and had a really nice time.. but man things have changed. Every inch on this "resort" seems to be in disrepair from the faded roof, sloppy repainting, to the cracked, bland pool area. It would seem that the hotel itself is waiting until everything is broken to go for a total renovation. I am writing you to say- they're at that point! No one is ever hot in a hotel room, but our AC blew constantly at "67" while we sweat. The bathroom at this waterfront resort was re-caulked multiple times with whatever color they had on hand. I will say the service was friendly and the staff keep that place alive. Sandra at the front desk and Sarah C/Cathy at the Cabana were lovely but it just doesn't make up for the actual place. The nicest way to say this is that the clientele has tanked. This hotel was a gem years before and is now no different than a roadside motel. If you want a stay where people will smoke weed next to your room, a humid, muggy room with dated bathroom, a view of brown water, understaffed restaurants that make food ice cold, and classless people who will let their wet children scream and run through your breakfast- this is for you! We were offered a late check out for our troubles but instead we left immediately. There wasn't enough pool side drinks to make me think this was a nice getaway. NEVER again!

My wife and I spent our first two nights of our honeymoon at the Marriott Sanibel in January, 2022. We were told when we arrived that we weren’t actually staying at the Marriott Sanibel, but the Marriott Captiva Tower which is an non-staffed older building about two blocks away. Then we were supposed to have Champagne and Strawberries for us waiting in the room, and they were not there. Also, there was a card that said to leave our towels in the shower that we wanted to have washed, which is common. We did that and came back later in the day and no one had been to our room at all. Then after our stay I reached out to the hotel 3X by phone (I was told by staff members the manager Nick or Narisa would call me back asap two different times, but that did not happen) and 4X by email over the next almost 3 months to explain what happened. we received no “real” email or call to give us any apology, refund or credit for our misleading, overpriced (Over $1000 for two nights!) and underserved stay. Finally, I got super annoyed at such poor responses, I called the customer service 800 number talked about our situation and gave her a “case” number we got on one of our “auto” we are so sorry emails…..and waited for 23 minutes while she put me on hold to research our “case #”. She came back and said she got info from the “escalated customer concern” department she said….”we got what we paid for, Covid rules meant we could not have any staff service our room so getting no service wasn’t their fault, and lastly since I booked with Expedia, it was their job/fault to tell us I actually booked the Captiva Tower of Marriott NOT the Sanibel Tower”. FYI: The reservation confirmation and the paid receipt said nothing about our reservation/stay being at the “Captiva Tower”. All very sad! Two bright spots. The breakfast buffet and service was excellent! & The bed was comfortable.

I am a Titanium Bonvoy member and I have never ever been so disappointed with a Marriott or Marriott partner property. Other than the new bathroom in our room at the Captiva tower and the physical pool our that tower was repugnant. Dirty carpets in hall, more dirt and scuff marks on the walls in the hallways than could be counted. The spot painting effort made the property look cheep and rundown. Aside from Jim the cart driver There was an astounding lack of staff present at the tower/pool area. Multiple (4 of the 12) pool umbrellas were inoperable due to them missing the pin that holds the umbrella up. I requested multiple times to have the music being played at the pool to be adjusted to a different genre with no change. It was 10:00 am and the music was what I call “baby making music”. Get the pulse your guest, cause that was not it. The breakfast welcome gift did did not include hot items such as bacon, eggs, pancakes that were also set out at the buffet on the weekend. I was not told that this was not included in our arrival gift. I am not sure if anyone else would be annoyed if they would be annoyed if while they were enjoying breakfast and morning coffee a person was on a conference call a few tables down. Multiple comments to different staff members did not bring about the hotel asking this gentleman to lower his volume or conduct his conference call at a more remote location away from guests that are on vacation attempting to enjoy the morning view from the restaurants outside seating.

The main Sanibel resort hotel Is beautiful and a pleasure be in with a huge veranda and large pool shaded with trees . The food and service was very good. However we stayed captive in the very sterile “Captiva tower” nearby. An opposite to that resort feeling was experienced here . Although we had a very updated room and bathroom and a really great bed, The tv is our large room was a ridiculously small 32”. The room was decorated without any theme or real taste or colour. It had Bare walls with mirrors as accents and furniture that looked like it’s been thrown together from old 50/60 offices but recovered without any style. Old looking furniture, uncomfortable couches Formica tables . Useful Unitarian furniture but not comfortable to sit on. No real vacation nor decorative taste. Definite not a pretty room. Our room had a magnificent view and large balcony to enjoy the sunset . But once the sun went down we had no outdoor lighting to enjoy the evening . Also To sit and enjoy the view outdoors outside furniture consisted of two very cheap plastic chairs or we could just stand . As for the pool It was smallish with very a sterile non resort look of bushes against a white fence . Minus 2 stars for no vacation decor. Spent $3000 for 4 days ....expected much more from Bonvoy
