Nestled near the airport and cruise terminals, the Holiday Inn Express Ft. Lauderdale Cruise-Airport draws praise from numerous travelers for its prime location, ideal for pre-cruise stays. While guests appreciate the complimentary shuttles and breakfast variety, some feel the amenities don't justify the price, noting additional charges and underwhelming features.
Opinions on service and room quality show a divide, with reports of both commendable staff and frustrating service inconsistencies. Despite this, the hotel's cleanliness stands out, with many reviewers commending the tidy rooms and diligent housekeeping.

I lost my flight and the airline booked This hotel for one night. I was very upset but when I arrived the smile and kind of Derek of the front desk made the diference. My room was very comfortable and had an nice view! Thank you Holiday I’ll be back!

When I saw that our room (#209) was at the end of the hall around the corner from the elevator, I thought we would have a nice quiet stay. What I didn't realize was that the elevator was right behind our room, and we heard the motor from the elevator whenever it was operating. The room was clean and adequate size. The sink in the bathroom was the bowl type that sits on top of the bathroom counter. If children were staying in this room it would be impossible for them to brush their teeth or wash their hands due to the height of the bowl. There is a nice roof top pool. They had additional seating to handle to crowds at breakfast, however the food could have been replenished more efficiently.
I had read reviews about construction in the lobby so i called the week before and was told it was completed. This was not true because our first night there we heard a lot of banging just below us and in the morning we saw new shelving in the lobby. The elevators in the parking garage were not functioning, however there were no signs indicating this. Fortunately we are able bodied and could take the stairs. With the exception of one very friendly, smiling front desk attendant, all the others were indifferent and appeared to wish they were somewhere else.
The hotel is located in a busy area and it is close to restaurants, a grocery store and is a short drive to the beach. However there are many options in Ft. Lauderdale and I would probably not stay here again.

We booked this hotel after staying at the Extended Stay across the parking lot the 2 nights before our cruise (read that review here as well).
So we were kicked off the boat at 830am, with a reservation at night.
I called the hotel to see about a shuttle from the pier, but I was told no. We got a taxi for $15.00 to the hotel, arriving about 9.
There were a ton of people wanting to check in, so we put in our name and were told 130, which is really pretty good for any hotel. I will add that the front desk staff (Lucretia in particular) was a bit grumpy, probably from the number of grumpy tourists who thought they should get a room at 9am.
The hotel provided a room for our bags (unsupervised and unlocked), and we walked across the street to kill time.
After using free wi-fi and eating an early lunch we returned. Some folks were called for their rooms, but because we had a suite we waited until 130.
During our wait two women who had been on our ship came in and we talked to them, they had taken the hotel shuttle at a cost of $30 EACH!
BTW - there are a ton of Uber drivers in Fort, so you might even be able to get one of them for less than the $15 we paid for the taxi.
The Room - our suite.
Very nice, although the lights are really odd, you could turn lights off in the bathroom from outside the door, and you had to have that switch on to turn on the lights and fan. Their was some nice indirect lighting over the bed, the TV and the armoir. TV was huge and their was a very comfortable chaise lounge.
The shower is sufficient, but you think it will be much larger based on the rest of the bedroom.

I only had a few hours overnight in Fort Lauderdale after arriving on a late flight and heading off on a cruise in the morning so was looking for something reasonable for the few hours I was going to need it. Airport shuttle service was very efficient, reception staff functional but swift and room was very night and bright. The bathroom in particular was very nice and bright - there had obviously been some refurbishment relatively recently, and it showed.
Breakfast was pleasant - although I really don't like paper plates - food was good but the breakfast area was very small for the amount of people. I would definitely stay again though if looking for an overnight stay in the area.

We booked a King bed for one night before our cruise. The room had a comfortable pillow top bed with a microwave, fridge and coffee maker. The desk has a roll out table and chair making it suitable for eating a meal we brought back to the hotel.
The bathroom was stocked with all amenities. The breakfast in the morning was very good with a variety of hot and cold items. The cinnamon buns were warm and satisfying.
While all the amenities were great the view out room 505 was of a concrete wall 5 feet away of the building next door. I would have given a higher rating if we had a view.
The hotel is close to shopping at the Harbor Shops. You can take the lane behind the hotel next door to access the plaza.
We took advantage of the free shuttle from the airport but had to wait 15-20 minutes. A private company offers a shuttle to the cruise port for $9 per person. The hotel is very close to the cruise port. Save your self time and money by ordering a taxi for ~$10.

After waiting over an hour for the shuttle to arrive we checked in. Only after getting the room and starting to wash up did we learn the hotel has no soap or shampoo. 3 trips to the lobby and they are still looking into when the shipment may arrive. I am not looking forward the the next 2 days here with the construction going on and poor service.

We stayed at this location 3 separate times in November. This review is regarding our first stay, November 2, 2021. It didn't go well.
We reserved a king room with a sofa. Before checking in, the hotel called and asked if we wanted an upgrade. Well of course. When we arrived and went to the room it was a king bed without a sofa. Back down at the desk we were told the upgrade was a move in location from an older part of the hotel to a newer part of the hotel. To us that is not an upgrade when they changed room type! They said that the ONLY rooms with king beds and sofa sleepers was in the older part of the hotel but by this time they were all gone.
The next morning when we realized there was no soap in the dispenser in the shower we stopped a worker from housekeeping in the hallway about the soap and decided to ask about the room types. She informed us that the room right next door to us was a king room with a sofa sleeper. I went to the desk and spoke with someone, although our stay was about to be over either way, and was again told that the only rooms in the hotel (old or new part) with king bed and sofa sleeper, were located in the older part of the hotel, and that they looked at the switch to the newer part of the hotel as an upgrade even though the room did not have a sofa sleeper. I asked for a price adjustment because the rooms with sofa sleepers cost more, regardless of the older/newer part of the hotel excuse. They did adjust the bill.
It turned out we were lied to. The room right next to ours was in fact a room with a king bed and it had a sofa bed. They called it a junior suite. Housekeeping was more honest than the front desk people. We learned about this room first from the housekeep, which was denied as existing by the desk staff, but later confirmed its existence upon our second stay, which was far better and discussed in a separate review. I just hate being deceived or lied to, and the bottom line is we get screwed out of the room type (king with sofa) that we wanted, regardless of price.

We returned to this property after first choosing this hotel for a pre-cruise stay about six years ago. The location is excellent for proximity to the airport and port. However, although by no means terrible, there were some opportunities for improvement.
The most frustrating part was a very ineffective airport shuttle to the hotel. The shuttle is small and there is not a designated stop point. It just pulls up into a general area and there is a mad rush to the shuttle. With two small kids and a bunch of luggage we were just not quick enough and ended up waiting for over 90 minutes before we could get a ride. In hind site, I would recommend a taxi or Uber.
The hotel is under renovations which is likely a good thing. We were in the older section which can use a facelift. The room was clean. Important to note that there was no shampoo or bathroom amenities provided.
Breakfast was the typical Holiday Inn Express option. However the area was extremely busy and most food was empty with very limited people to refill and stock breakfast. We were able to grab some fruit and cereal but nothing hot.
You can book a shared shuttle from the hotel to the pier for $9/person. However Uber was only $11 total so would not recommend the shuttle option.

We picked this hotel as our pre-cruise stay due to the location to the port and the complimentary airport shuttle.
When we arrived at the airport I called for the shuttle and was told it would be approx. 10 minutes. The shuttle ended up taking almost 90 minutes. Once at the hotel check in took almost 30 minutes due to the agent answering the phone every 10 seconds. We made it up to our room which had 1 king bed and 1 full size pull out couch. The room was rusty, smelled weird and desperately needed a carpet cleaning. The couch did not have any linens and we needed extra towels, so I called down and spoke to Darek. He said they would be up in 5-10 minutes. An hour goes by and I called back and spoke to Mike. Mike was 100% overwhelmed with everything left in his lap. Mike asked me to come down and he would get me what I needed. Once I when downstairs Mike took myself and another couple to the laundry room to get what we needed. This was not safe nor sanitary and we should not have been in there. The next morning when we went to leave after waiting 15 minutes for the 1 elevator, someone from the hotel came running up the stairs to tell us the elevator was broken and we would have to carry all our luggage down the stairs! When we got to the lobby there was not a place to stand, sit or barely breathe. In my opinion there must have been a fire code violation. I wanted to address these issues in person with the hotel manager, but I physically could not get to her with all the people and luggage in the lobby. All the construction didn’t help. We could not wait to leave this hotel.
The ’best” part is that I was charged $300 for my stay when I used my chase free night certificate. It has been 11 days since I have been charged and still no refund. This hotel needs new management and someone to take a look how this hotel operates. I do a lot of business with IHG but will be taking my business to another brand after this. Good luck to all who stay here.

I stayed at this hotel for 7 nights straight in January 2021. I found the hotel to be in a great location near shopping and restaurants. Due to COVID there was no room service for the 7 nights I was there and subsequently you have to manage exchanging your towels each day and linen once a week, which ends up being a hassle. It was a challenge as the front desk did not always have towels available and you’d have to wait for housekeeping to bring them to you which in several cases never happened. Then you’d have to coordinate again with the front desk . I had to replace my own sheets on the bed. No room cleaning services but the prices don’t reflect you doing all the work. Tom at the front desk was the only staff member I could count on for accurate service. The breakfast was excellent and had hot items each day served to you by a staff member. There were just a few cars in a huge parking garage and they charge you for parking which does not seam appropriate if you’re staying there. Several guests were not wearing masks but no staff member was reminding them of the requirement. The place is clean and Maintenace seams to stay on top of any issues.
