Detailed Reviews
Located in central Fort Lauderdale beach, perfect get-away to escape in the sun. Property is beautiful and very relaxing, making it hard to leave! The beach is a very short walk, parking is plentiful and right outside the property. Facilities are very clean, staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Located in close walking distance to many amenities. At the time of our visit guest were able to come before checkin and checkout late if they leave their bags in the office and enjoy the property; There is a public shower and bathroom for use. We enjoyed hanging out by one of the many pools. The guests are similar minded, and we enjoyed many great conversations with people. Guests range from single to couples. We will stay again, after visiting similar properties offering amenities of this life-style, we prefer this location compared to the competition.

While I stayed at The Worthington property, the three properties do set the gold standard for gay-friendly accommodations in Fort Lauderdale. I had a room on the third floor which I chose on purpose to maintain social distancing. Outside my door was a sundeck which I used on a couple of occasions to minimize interactions with other guests. When the day became hotter and the pool called to me, I went to the main level. I was impressed how the chaise lounges were spread out to keep a safe space between patrons. I did not make the relatively short walk to Sebastian Beach as I had cold drinks in my refrigerator and a comfortable place in the sun right at the hotel. During this time of COVID, the day is a little more compressed. One needs to head out to dinner by 7:00 pm as many places in Wilton Manors close between 11:00 pm and Midnight. Still, every place encouraged masks, temperature checks, and social distancing. I felt very reassured by the actions of staff both at The Worthington and at nearby stores and restaurants. My four night stay was good for me both physically and mentally.

As usual, the staff was beyond professional, polite, & quick to address any concerns or requests. I didn’t have any, but saw first hand how quickly requests were handled.
My room was large and overlooked the pool and jacuzzi The grounds are well Established tropical trees and flowing plants The pool and jacuzzi s were well maintained and cleaned during my stay.
If you are light sleeper , you may want to request the units that don’t overlook the 2 jacuzzi s, as people tend to be in them at all hours and voices carry.
There was breakfast available until 1030 with plenty of options. The coffee machine always had fresh brewed coffee at all hours, which I took advantage of.
Looking forward to my 4th stay next April

A friend and I decided to make a quick trip to this resort complex and while there were some high points, a few disappointments will make me question returning in the future.
We booked directly with the hotel and while they make It clear when you select your room at one of the resorts, It is not guaranteed. In an email I received, the resort says It will only guarantee room type and building. We reserved a first floor room in the Worthington building. When we arrived, we were taken to a different building (Venice) and to a room on the third floor (with elevator not in service). When I asked the front desk worker why, he told us that the room we requested wasn’t available because another guest decided to stay longer. I knew this wasn’t quite correct due to the published policies we received via email but decided to just let It go (see screenshot if email).
The other guests at the hotel were great - very friendly and we made some wonderful friends!
If you use hotel soap and shampoo/body wash when you travel, I’d suggest bringing your own to this resort. While plenty is provided, the quality isn’t quite on par with what I would expect at a similar price point at another hotel. We did have plenty of hot water, though (as some reviews mention they have issues there).
I agree with other reviews that the provided breakfast is a little skimpy and, for us, changed locations and even times it was offered.
What really made me reconsider returning is that on our final day we didn’t fly out until around 4 pm. We asked if we could do a late check out. While I know this is never guaranteed at any hotel, we asked for an extra two hours and were hopeful because on our departure day the resort was fairly empty and had a total of 7 cars in the parking lot when we left. We were told that they’d give us an extra hour but anything after that and we’d be charged half a days room rate. Come on - an almost empty hotel and you can’t give a guest with messed up rooms one hour?
All in all, we might check out other similar hotels in the area before returning. We wanted to like this hotel more but the customer service made that hard.

Dear Chad, I too am disappointed in my front desk agent whom changed your stay to a different room although same class room, I do not appreciate him putting you in a different building. Its against my policy. Please accept my apology, and I have refunded one night back to your card for the inconvenience. Our liquid soap that we use however is of high quality, I stayed at high end hotel in Canada, I liked there soap dispensers and product so much that when I returned home I switched all our rooms over to the same product and dispensers. It is more sanitary than bar soap, lees of a mess and we don't have to pollute the with plastic bottles of shampoo/soap. During Covid-19 crisis, the Broward County health department has mandated that resorts / hotels reduce our continental breakfast to only individually wrapped items, paper cups, plastic spoons and knives, most guests appreciate our efforts to keep everyone healthy, while still offering something to eat in the morning. We are very sorry it did not meet your expectations. We do our best to help reduce the curve, and follow Health dept. guidelines. We certainly don"t want guests to become ill here at our resort, and take it back home. We did not change breakfast locations, we opened up the second breakfast room as we were almost at capacity and only one breakfast room would not allow for social distancing. During normal times we always had two breakfast rooms, now when we are busy we opened the second one. Breakfast times have never changed in the past 20 years, and are still 8:00am to 10:30 am. If someone oversleeps we gladly help them to get something to eat. With regards to the late check out, again during Covid-19 times we have had to significantly reduce our staff. We were very busy over the 4th of July weekend and due to reduced staff, some rooms from Monday still had to cleaned and sanitized on Tuesday. While you only counted 7 cars in our parking lot that wraps around the block, I can assure you that there were more guests than 7, Uber and Lyft are very popular here in South Florida and many guests opt for their services. Late check outs with reduced staff and having a heavy workload for that day already, we were willing to let you stay an hour longer, there were a couple other guests we extended that courtesy to and they were pleased to get an hour. In todays new world cleaning rooms isn't what it used to be, we have to sanitize everything and spend about twice as long per room. We also have to watch payroll hours as times are tough right now but were getting through this. Warm regards, Jim Durhan Proprietor

Traveling during these uneasy times can be stressful. The Worthington/Alcazar/Villa Venice resort and all of its staff go above and beyond during this Covid -19 pandemic to perfectly combine a safe environment with a relaxed and fun atmosphere. Top notch cleanliness and safely encouraged/enforced health standards allow guests to enjoy themselves free of the stress of the outside world. Thank you to everyone for making my stay as fabulous as it always is.

I’ve been coming to this establishment for years and usually very nice, relaxing and fun.
However things seem to be changing especially during these challenging times (covid-19).
They have rules set by the health department which they are not following or fail to enforce.
1. Hot tubs are over crowded with more than capacity. No social distancing.
2. No outside guests, yet they fail to enforce which is putting all actual guests at risk.
3. Staff not consistent, one will tell you one thing and another will say the direct opposite.
4. Rooms out dated, need improvement.
This is a high risk establishment, and i will sadly not return as there are better options with better amenities for the price.
Sincerely

We spent 9 days at the Worthington in room #210, fully equipped kitchen, living room and bedroom. The bed has been very comfy and at check in everything has been clean.
Overall we had a very pleasant stay, enjoying complimentary breakfast and friendliness of staff members. Check in and check out without an problems, parking lots in front of the property.
Towels have been changed every day, and bed has been fixed as well daily.
The reason that we are rating only 4 out of 5 stars is the fact that during our relatively long stay the floor of our room has never been vacuum cleaned nor clean swept.

This is an interesting time to be a traveler in not only the United States but across the world. The threat of Covid-19 has pushed millions of sunseekers in their homes, and that’s completely understandable. My boyfriend and I chose to leave our home in Nashville and come down to The Worthington Resort in beautiful Ft. Lauderdale over Mothers Day Weekend. Despite the beach and restaurants being closed we were still treated as old friends the moment we walked through the red steel door. The resort was by no means lively but we had a stellar time regardless; simply lounging around the main pool.
There is a palpable fear of traveling during the pandemic, however, if you keep your mask on, your hands washed, and your mind open then the staff at The Worthington Resort will welcome you (perhaps not with literal open arms) but kind smiles and fond memories.
Thanks y’all

Another amazing stay at the Worthington. While adjustments in place to adapt to necessary health precautions (changes in room service, continental breakfast and occupancy limits) everyone on the team makes sure you are comfortable.
Property is well maintained, less people than normal as expected with reduced occupancy - but always still meet great people are well taken care of at the property. It was a relaxing ‘back to some normal’ trip to get away from cold and enjoy the Florida sand and sun.

I stayed at Worthington for one week in July 2022. My room was in the Villa Venice building which I chose when booking as the rooms were a bit more expensive, so I thought they would be of a slightly higher standard than the Worthington and Alcazar buildings. That was not the case. The room rate was an average of $264.00 USD per night including taxes.
The Worthington is ideally located for those wanting to take advantage of both the beach and the three pools on site. The hotel location is two blocks in from the beach on N. Fort Lauderdale Beach Boulevard. The hotel is a short walking distance to the gay area of the beach at Sebastien Street. The hotel is four miles to gay bars, restaurants and shopping in Wilton Manors and is easily reached by car, Uber or Taxi. The front-desk staff were friendly and helpful. Guests were a mixture of ages, both singles and couples and for the most part quite friendly. The pools, hot tubs, grounds and chaises were well maintained.
The hotel lacked basic standard amenities one would expect. Despite advertising daily housekeeping on their website, this service was NOT provided on a daily basis even though I requested it. During my seven-night stay, my room was cleaned and linens changed only once. I called the front desk to ask for fresh towels and I was told if I wanted fresh towels, I had to bring my used towels to the front desk myself to exchange them for fresh towels. On another occasion, I had to ask for toilet paper. Again, I had to go with a housekeeper to a closet in the Worthington building to retrieve it. Other guests told me they had the same issues. Very unacceptable.
Overall, the hotel complex is looking a little run down and tired. Nothing that a general sprucing up, some elbow grease and a general cleaning of the pool decks, walkways between the buildings and stairwells couldn’t remedy. My room was clean, but everything looked dated. The mattress on the bed was very uncomfortable. Having a kitchen in the room was very useful.
My hope is the latest owners and management will make the necessary changes and improvements to their physical property and their amenity services. The hotel has huge potential given its positive attributes and location. I wish them the best of luck.

You go to the closest gate and you let them in. I’ve never had an issue, and I always have several “external visitors” when I stay.
Exclusively men only!
Hello,
Fort Lauderdale has a very nice international airport with flights arriving from England. The Worthington is a 15 to 20 minute drive from the airport. You could also fly into Miami International airport but that’s about an hour away (more during rush hour.) Orlando is very far north so not a good place to fly into if your destination is Fort Lauderdale.
You don’t really need a car as Uber and Lyft is pretty inexpensive. There also is a great train in Ft. Lauderdale called Brightline. You can take it south to Miami or north. I like taking it to West Palm Beach for a day trip.
It appears Virgin Atlantic flies from Belfast to Fort Lauderdale but due to COVID-19, I could not find any at this time.
Hope you have a lovely trip. We hope to be there for our Thanksgiving holiday. That’s a great time to go, the weather is perfect.
