Nestled on a pristine beachfront, Lago Mar Beach Resort & Club comes highly recommended for its tranquil setting, as travelers find solace in the serene atmosphere. While opinions on the resort's value vary, with some guests considering it pricey, the comprehensive array of family-oriented amenities, such as pools and sports courts, often compensates for the cost. The resort's cleanliness is generally applauded, though some suggest a need for refreshment in places.
Service at Lago Mar is often lauded for its warmth and efficiency, contributing to the overall relaxed, albeit slightly dated, charm of the resort. Spacious rooms offer stunning views, though some guests point out the need for soundproofing and modern updates.

Detailed Reviews
I love this hotel, and have been bringing my family here every year since the mid 1980s (we have now grown to 20, including 10 grandchildren). The hotel has great charm and some old world elegance: two wonderful pools (one exclusively for adults, one for all), 2 tennis courts, 4 dedicated pickle ball courts, miniature golf, basketball court, spa, poolside bar and restaurants. There are ocean-front suites with spectacular views of the sunrise, the beach, and depart, and lovely rooms with pool and partial ocean views.
What is truly spectacular about the Lago Mar is the location. The hotel is just a short ride from the Fort Lauderdale airport just north of the cruise ship port inlet directly on the beach. Every morning and evening you can watch the mammoth cruise ships arrive and depart. It is a beautiful very wide large sandy beach that is uncrowded as it is quite remote from the noisy crowded main drag of Fort Lauderdale hotels that are across the busy street from the crowded and sometimes raucous beach. Frankly, I find much of the central hotel area of Fort Lauderdale to be quite tacky. About 1/2 mile north of the Lago Mar is the busy Marriott Harbor Beach Hotel which is also directly on the beach. This hotel is also quite nice, at bit more modern and newer, but noisier, more crowded, and in my opinion has less charm than the Lago Mar.
Another plus of the Lago Mar is the free laundry facility at the hotel. The free washers and dryers are a great bonus when you are travelling with children.

What a beautiful resort, we had such a relaxing time here. We drove a few minutes north to see the downtown strip and it was such a difference in vibe than this property. Loud music, traffic, hard to find parking, etc. This resort is truly a hidden gem and a nice escape. Lots for kids to do, and I was impressed with the size of the beach. You could easily spread out and not feel it was crowded. Yes, people reserve poolside chairs, but we headed down around lunchtime and by then a few chairs do open up and we had no problem finding some chairs in the 2nd row of loungers. Same for the beach chairs, never an issue finding free chairs there. We were there during a busy time as well around New Year's. Pool bar is fairly priced for food and drinks and they did not gouge you. Bartenders are so nice and friendly. Poolside music is fun too, very "Jimmy Buffet" feel. They had radio and then live music later in the day.
We had a family suite, and it had a door that connected to the room next door. We found the walls are very thin, and we could hear the little kids next door in the mornings excited for the day ahead. We solved it by shutting the bedroom door and turning on a white noise app. You can still hear them a bit, but it helped. Bed are very comfortable though! For the price of the room, you would hope for thicker walls.
Shower pressure isn't great, but just takes patience if you're a woman washing your hair. Toilet also has a weak, long flush so just be mindful of that. We had to call maintenance for help with a plunger with that but they were great and quick.
Free laundry is wonderful, kind families even left behind their detergent so we didn't even have to pay for soap. People were mindful of clearing out their laundry as well. Expect about 30 minutes for the washer and set a timer. Then I'd set one for the dryer and after 30 minutes my clothes were dry as well.

Overall a fabulous trip; will definitely return.
Location: situated right off the main drag but cozied up between a small harbor and a private beach. This place is for relaxing and separation from the busy outside, which was exactly what my family and were looking for. Avoid if you're looking for a high energy resort with lots of party potential. Go if you want that laid back, old Florida feeling.
Accommodations/Room: While other reviews call it dated, I call it Tommy Bahama meets Ricky Ricardo. The decor absolutely sings casual Floridian style, is immaculate, comfortable, and honestly I've never been to any other hotel that gave us as many towels as this place. I loved it. Towels everywhere. And their lobby signature smell is so punchy it borders on Caribbean beach. We are a family of 3 and picked the Executive one bedroom. Personally, I enjoyed the separate shower and tub that comes with this room.
Amenities: Pools are fabulous. The adult pool is set on the edge of the resort, yet still near the action (translation: bar and restaurant) . The family pool snakes around a set of lazy palm trees to maximize lounge potential and offers both full sun and shaded sections all within a few feet of the water's edge. The restaurants offer simple fare, but consistent. I didn't find anything I didn't like but I'm also not particular about food. I know that if I want a standout meal, I'll need to drive somewhere for it. Instead, if I want a burger or salad within 20 feet from where I'm sitting by the pool I know I'm going to pay a premium, and that convenience charge is fine with me. Oh, and they pour wonderfully heavy at the spa bar. Beach chairs are free and towels are fresh and plentiful. Again with the towels. I didn't know how much I'd love having unlimited towels.
Service: Except for in the restaurants, where it's imperative that servers are plentiful and at least appear busy and attentive, the hotel staff seem non existent, slinking in an out of hallways and behind bushes to keep things running smoothly. You pay, in part, for that non-intrusiveness, so other reviewers saying that the decor of the resort doesn't justify the cost of their room don't understand that seamlessness comes at a fee.
Parking: It's FREE guys, and literally in front of the hotel where you'll likely find a spot that's actually roomy enough to fit your ride. No $40 per night charge, no gripping a crumpling $5 (or $10 if you're rich) in your hands while waiting for valet to pull it 'round, no waiting at the curb to hand over your keys only to have your car parked where you can practically see it. Anyway, it was my favorite amenity.

We stayed here two nights pre cruise. We met the infamous Joan and she was so lovely! We had the breakfast buffet 2x and she told us that the chef could make my children Mickey Mouse pancakes. Adorable. All the servers are so incredibly thoughtful down to the smallest details such as to go cups so my kids could finish their juice.
The chefs in the Palm Garden dining are also so knowledgeable and accommodating. One of my children has a peanut allergy and they checked labels for us for the waffles and pancakes and reassured us that a server has allergies too so that restaurant removed peanuts altogether. My kiddo could eat everything except the baked goods in that restaurant.
Be sure to check towel station times as it closes earlier than the pool so make sure you get your towels beforehand if you want to go for an evening swim. The beach was spacious and private enough. It was a short stroll to the beach (no need to cross the street either!) and there were roped off turtle nesting areas. Lots of activities such as the pool(s), giant chess game, hammocks, ping pong table, mini putting, and a small playground for younger kids. Bring bug spray as the mosquitos are fierce! We went when the American kids were back in school so we did not have issues with finding a chair by the pool or it being crowded.
The rooms were big and the views were gorgeous. While it was clean, there were ants on the balcony at times and sleeping under the vent in the room had my dust allergic kiddo sniffing with watery eyes the next day but we moved him to the other bed and he was fine after. If we were really concerned, I have no doubt that we would have been moved had we complained because the customer service was top notch.
Everyone was so helpful and they were constantly cleaning public spaces like vacuuming or moping up wet floors from people coming in from the pool. They even had tampons and pads in the washrooms. Everything was just so thoughtfully done here.
We ubered some cruise supplies to the resort with no issues and took an uber to the port the next day. It was a short drive and everything went smoothly. We would definitely stay here again primarily due to the customer service, clean pool, and private beach.

Not impressed! When I go to resort, I expect a little extra pampering,. The bartenders at the tiki bar are rude and would rather talk to each other than get you a drink with a smile. You cannot use cash or credit card anywhere in the resort except for of course the tiny boutique, which has nothing in it. You cannot invite anyone for dinner or drinks because it all has to be charged to your room when the room was not under my name due to a business booking. Can’t buy drinks or snacks with credit or cash!!! Very frustrating. No servers at poolside so can’t get a drink at the pool when you’re sweating and thirsty. The beach is beautiful, but it’s a long walk down to the water so beware and overall a private membership hotel with little to no upgrades. No coffee available, food very bland, no other food options, you have to have a car to get anywhere just overall not impressed.

This resort is lovely! We loved the lagoon pool and all the games that were available (shuffleboard, cornhole, etc). Although there were a lot of people there, it never felt crowded. The beds were very comfortable and our room was quiet. Staff were very attentive and professional. Food was pretty good, although somewhat expensive. Our only complaint was that they charged for beach chairs ($10 each for folding chairs, $15 for lounge chairs per day) and umbrellas ($32 per day), which seemed like overkill given what we paid for the room.

We stayed for 2 nights as we had tickets to the Miami Dolphins game and wanted to be on the beach and way from the stadium area. We LOVED this resort and if we ever have a reason to visit the area again, we will stay here. The pool was beautiful and the resort had a lot of things going on like mini golf, hammocks on the sand, an incredible beach, giant chess, a fun bar, live music and a really great cafe. When we arrived later in the afternoon, we had just completed a long drive from our Disney vacation in Orlando. We were tired and just wanted a simple dinner and relax by the pool. We found that the cafe was open for about another hour and we were greeted by the two ladies working the cafe: Timaka and Altonoh. They were GREAT and so charming - thanks to them we felt at home and welcome right away. We then went for a night swim and ordered drinks from the bar which were very good. We had breakfast the next morning in the cafe and the food was good. The resort experience was pleasant, clean and felt very safe and as a plus, our 17 year old son loved that he could hang out by the pool at night and relax under the stars. The customer service from the front desk, bell boy, housekeeping and others was perfect and the main reason we will be back. We booked a Standard room with 2 queens and was pleasantly surprised to find that we were upgraded to an Executive One Bedroom Suite overlooking the pool. Thanks again for a really great stay!

This is a great place for a family with children. The pool for the kids is unique and perfect for them to splash. The adult pool is nice but there is no hot tub which is a shame. As a senior I recommend they get one. The room was good although the view was of an awning but wasn’t planning on staying all day in the room. I did not like that the bathtub had no shower wand in it and my coffee maker was not cleaned, if still had a pod in it from a previous guest. Places to eat were good, although the dining menu never had any daily specials so we did get bored with the menu. There was no place to go unless we took an Huber so it’s a bit isolated. The soda shop closes at 8 so if kids want ice cream there is no place to really go and the gift shop closes at 5. Only the wine bar is open. There is no entertainment or music. We wanted to rent chairs for the beach but no prices on the sign so we asked and were to 60 for lounges and umbrellas. We were never told about the $10 chairs or choices. to Didn’t like that. My husband hated that everything gets charged to the room like a cruise. We had friends and wanted to contribute to dinners and we couldn’t .
Like I said great for kids. We will probably go back to our other resort which has more to offer.

We came for breakfast. You can have ala carte or buffet. The breakfast buffet was excellent. Everything you could want was being offerred. The eggs were cooked to order and the food was unlimited. The fully loaded western omelet was delicious. Also good were the potatoes, fruit and hash. The orange juice is fresh squeezed. They offer lots of juices-apple to grapefruit. Evan was our server and he coule not have been more helpful or more personable. The breakfast was delicious! Don't miss it!

We were there the last week of December for an entire week and didn't see a single cat once.
This hotel has a cute breakfast counter/coffee shop. I do not remember how much the breakfast buffet was. We prepared a la carte or talking to Frannie in the Coffee Shop. Yes, the beach is not far from property, but the water is a little bit away. Not too bad. There are not any streets to cross to access beach/water. I personally think Lago Mar's private beach is one of the nicest in the area.
I did see some families with fishing poles on the beach.
I don’t know if they have cribs call & ask. They have a beautiful beach, 2 pools but one for kids only. No music at pool. Food is good Hope this was helpful.
1. We actually live in this neighborhood so we know the area very well. The restaurants are excellent at Lago Mar but you have so many other options if you choose. Just a few yards up the beach is a Marriot resort with several restaurants. You can get Uber Eats delivered from almost every restaurant in Ft Lauderdale. It is about 1 mile to walk to several restaurants on A1A. Lyft and Uber are reasonable and available at any time.
2. The ocean is awesome!!! The water is beautiful, clean and very swimmable. Depending on the tide you can walk out a fair bit before it gets too deep. The cruise ships go out the shipping channel which is very close but have never kept people from water activities. Some days the water is calm other days its wavy it all depends on the weather system at that time just like most bodies of water.
3. We have a couple weeks of very windy days a year. The corner of the coast has nothing to do with the wind. When its windy the whole beach is windy. We did have a full week of wind in December that was annoying but that is the exception instead of the rule.
