My husband and I didn't stay at the Lafayette, but we took refuge there during a drenching rain. Couldn't get a taxi (8 ships were in port) and so the owner very kindly got his own car and drove us to our hotel. That gentleman impressed us with his caring. Good to know if you're considering booking at the motel.

This was the most disgusting hotel I've ever been in. If I could give this a -10 I would. This place was not only filthy, but it was in a very sketchy area. I was afraid to walk barefoot in that room. The carpet was filthy, the towels were filthy dirty with a huge holes in them. Even the telephone...

Old and delapitated. Exterior looks ok, but the rooms are old and dank. The kitchen was gross, the tile floors not clean. Bad paint job and the furniture was knicked - a lot! Old uncomfortable beds. The door jamb was out of plumb making the door not close properly. Room was drafty. The bathroom was clean, but that is the...

You feel like you've gone back in time when you enter the lobby, or should I say, the office. Door doesnt shut easy, must slame it. Was expecting a dump of a room due to the outside looks... was surprised on how clean it was, including the bathroon. All and all, quick place to catch some zzzzz, but not for...

When my family and I went to take a trip to Ft. Lauderdale, Lafayette Motel seemed like an approachable and affordable idea. They marketed themselves as a family-friendly place with clean facilities and stunning architecture. However, the reality of it was far different. My advice is DO NOT COME HERE EVER. We had made a reservation previous to coming here,...

I am sitting here wondering what experiences some people have had in their lives to find any positive comments about this place? Maybe its people being overly optimistic, perhaps alcohol helped, maybe they are vision impaired...not sure but its really confusing and contradictory of REALITY! I was going to post a slew of nasty pictures myself, but the pics already...

You are better off sleeping at the beach rather than trying to spend the night here. Horrible rooms, smelly beds, awful bathrooms, shady guests, I can go on and on. Please stay away from this place and someone please tear this place down. This has got to be the worst hotel I've ever been. The only good thing is that...

Stayed for one night on route from Orlando to Key Largo. Allocated a room on the third floor, so we had a (limited) sea view. I booked this hotel because it was cheap, therefore I did not expect the Ritz. My findings are:- Undercover car parking. (Good) Charming staff. (Good) Very handy for a fabulous beach. (Good) Room was more...

Well.. It was fairly inexpensive.. Lots of noise from construction in front of it with condos being built. It wasn't terribly " dirty" but very outdated. Shower was cold and wouldn't warm up. It is in decent location as far as close to beach, only couple minutes walk and about a five minute drive to restaurants
