While the Residence Inn Fort Lauderdale Intracoastal/Il Lugano garners appreciation for its prime location and spacious rooms with balconies, some travelers feel the value isn't quite there, pointing to maintenance and service issues. The hotel's atmosphere and amenities receive mixed reviews; guests enjoy the full kitchen and complimentary offerings but find some facilities lacking and the decor in need of an update.
Service quality is inconsistent, with staff friendliness mentioned, yet some encounters felt unhelpful. Cleanliness standards also appear to vary, with room upkeep needing attention.

I wanted something bigger than regular hotel room with PRIVATE balcony. Late friday night arrival for 3 night stay valet parking only and they are very efficient. I booked intracoastal one bedroom suite, marriott platinum got us upgraded to one bedroom larger suite (810) with both intracoastal and ocean view, there is no better view in building. I had 6 chairs 2 tables a chaise lounge and 3 sliding doors onto balcony – we really enjoyed having evening drinks out there. Suite huge and clean but floors needed to be mopped and someone had to come up the next day and fix the toilet. New large toiletries so no more small bottles, my wife liked the shampoo and conditioner so much she ordered some on Amazon and it wasn’t cheap. In room washer/dryer was extremely useful, we were able to take carry-ons on flight and save $60 checking two bags.
Breakfast great, many offerings and the staff is incredible, they clear tables in seconds and replace items before anything every runs out. Make sure you eat outside and enjoy the views, we saw a manatee one morning. Pool and deck are nice but sun didn’t reach it until noon so I borrowed beach chairs from the front desk in the morning (free and they have tons) and took short walk to beach, you pass a Walgreens on the way you can pick up drinks and snacks, then came back and used pool after lunch. Go to Bokampers for dinner, was great and open really late. Asked for and received late check out as well. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone.

We have spent here over a month, and we were amazed by how attentive, caring and accommodating all the staff was at this hotel. It was overall a 5 star experience.
From the moment we arrived we had the valet people taking care of our luggage and and the car, while wearing mask and gloves.
The front desk was super nice and very caring. They prolonged our stay at the same rate per night few times, as you could tell they really appreciating our business, even over busy 4th of July weekend.
They also upgraded us to a corner room with 2 balconies where you can see the inter coastal and the city with a sea view!
The one bedroom suite we stayed in was very spacious, modern and clean.
They said they clean every three days, but we actually had the cleaner come every single day to us and ask if we wanted to get the room cleaned, which was just so nice and appreciated.
They were also very accommodating about the cleaning times, as we were able to leave the room sometimes very late during the day, so we were even more nicely surprised they were able to clean the room that late.
They were willing to come and pickup our trash, bring more towels, toilet paper, paper towels, or vacuum floor promptly any time we asked.
They also brought our packages to our room, food deliveries, etc. showing every time how much they cared.
Every single time we needed our car it was brought in a super timely matter.
At the end one of our valet people - Cory - did something very special and not only picked our luggage up from our room, which we had a ton, but also managed to pack the car for us! That was definitely an extra bonus, and I could see that he is always willing to go the extra mile to satisfy the customer, not being afraid of challenges. I personally see him having very bright future in the hospitality business and look forward to seeing him in management role.
Thanks a lot again to all the staff! You are the best! We look forward to coming again, and telling all our friend about this experience!

This place is AMAZING!! Our navigator drove us into flooded streets and the Manager, Jennifer, (Jenny) and Ryan helped us all the way to our hotel and had our room waiting. Within a few minutes of being there, we felt like we were visiting old friends and everyone was warm and welcoming. Jenny is amazing, she is professional and helpful and absolutely amazing!! Her staff seems to adore her and she has an elegant and spotless property. The room is absolutely fabulous. The patio overlooks homes surrounded by water and filled by boats and is an amazing site to behold. We felt like we were in Venice. The room is very spacious and there is a full refrigerator, stove, washer and dryer, microwave and safe and this is one of the nicest places we have stayed for the price that was very reasonable. Jennifer is the best and Ryan, David and Dene were superb and we will be back! Thanks to all of you! Jeannette and Barry

The Hotel is located in a quiet commercial zone and is backed to the waterways. The lobby is small but modern and trendy. Paid valet is offered, but, there are sufficient number of metered parking adjacent to the Hotel. And street parking is FREE from midnight to 8 AM daily. Check-in was quick and pleasant. The view of the intracoastal waterways and the sunset from the Balcony was lovely and relaxing. Having a washer and dryer in the room was a nice perk. Although the room does show sign of age in minor areas, but, overall, we are very happy with the conditions of the room, its bed, and the comfort level offered.
Daily free buffet breakfast is offered. Breakfast area is quite small, therefore, it is always crowded in the morning. However, the food quality was good, and replenished in timely manner. There are restaurants nearby the hotel, and more choices with about a 5 minute drive from the hotel too.
Overall, this is an excellent hotel, we truly enjoyed our stay, especially the view.

I have just completed a 6 night stay at this beautiful hotel. The staff are always available and prompt with any requests you have.
They are once again offering a hot breakfast buffet that has 2 kinds of scrambled eggs and potatoes (with and without peppers and onions), turkey sausage patties and bacon, oatmeal, fruit, bagels, toast, English muffins, juice, etc. The breakfast area, and entire hotel, are kept spotless.
Whether you have an intracoastal view or a "city view", the scenery from the huge balconies is gorgeous.
There is a Walgreens/Walgreens liquor store within walking distance along with many bars and restaurants. The beach is about a half mile walk, and the front desk has plenty of beach chairs and beach towels available to use.
The kitchen is well appointed with a Keurig coffee maker (a room previous to the one this week had a regular coffee maker, so you may want to verify with the hotel), toaster, stove top, full size fridge, microwave, dishes, pots and pans, a wine opener, plates/dishes, glasses/coffee cups, silverware, paper towels and kitchen linens. There is also a dishwasher available.
The bathroom has tea tree oil shampoo and conditioner as well as body wash mounted to the shower wall in full size bottles. The pool is not huge or resort style, but it has many types of pool loungers that are both in the sun and shade.
My experience has been that this is a calm, relaxed hotel that gets busier on the weekends. Please remember that many hotel staff are just coming out of a very difficult time. Many are still understaffed with limited resources that are not within their control. Patience and kindness are needed as all hotels work to bring you the kind of vacation experience you have been missing.
One additional note. The nearby beach is a very "local" and usually not crowded beach. Many who go there go for those reasons. Please show respect by not putting all of your stuff down right next to someone or right in front of them when there is plenty of room to spread out.

I have been staying at this property, originally called the Il Lugano Hotel, since it opened. My original stays were excellent, the facility was clean, well cared for, with an attentive staff, and had a bit of a vibe. My last 2 stays, particularly this one, since Marriott began managing, have been disappointing; the facility feels run down, the rooms & bathrooms are tired and worn. Upon entering the room, there were still crumbs on the carpet, the sink would not drain and the hook on the bathroom door was broken. Additionally, I was unaware (maybe my oversight) that room service was not provided unless requested. While housekeeping was able to drain the sink, the broken hook on the door was never attended to. Given the price of the stay was not inexpensive, the value received was sub par. I would consider this a budget hotel with higher end pricing.

This Residence Inn is so beautiful. The fragrance of the hotel is so wonderful. Check in with Tejeunte was so smooth. Kim was also the best. Both are a true asset to the hotel & so knowledgeable about Fort Lauderdale everything.
Rooms are huge, we reserved a 1 bedroom Oceanview. Very modern, clean & overall very well kept. Loved the 1 blade ceiling fans in living area & bedroom. Beds & pull out sofa had the ultimate comfy mattresses & bedding. Kitchen was so nice with full fridge, stovetop, dishwasher & the best stackable washer & dryer in a closet. The balcony was huge with a table & 4 chairs & 2 Sun loungers.
The hotel sits on the beautiful Intercoastal with views of beautiful homes, yachts & many other watercraft. Breakfast was so nice with outdoor tables & waterview. The breakfast was excellent every morning. Hot options, breads, 2 types of fresh fruits, yoghurt, many cereals & oatmeal, coffee, hot tea, juices & milk. Everyone was pleased with the variety of the choices.
Pool & hot tub were really nice. Huge sunbed cabana loungers, tables & chairs. All with a great view. Beach was about 2 blocks & hotel will loan you towels, chairs, mats & chairs. We loved the beach.
This hotel has so many restaurants within walking distance & also a few bars. Walgreens very near for snacks & drinks. There is also a outdoor grill by the pool. This area offers golf cart shuttles & Uber. Golf cart shuttles are by tips. There is also a free shuttle you can ride to get groceries or go to the pier.
This hotel is a must stay & so great to have kitchen with kids. I would definitely stay again.

The staff at this hotel are the nicest, most accommodating and welcoming staff I’ve ever encountered. At check in, they happily provided my 3 year old toddler with a beach bucket full of activities and snacks. Once we went up to our room, we noticed our toddler’s allergies started to act up. Immediately after expressing this concern to the staff, they offered us a new room with no hesitation. The new room was perfect and my son’s allergies were gone. The room was large, comfortable, clean, and had a well stocked kitchen. Perfect for a family with kids. Breakfast was your standard hotel breakfast but staff frequently stock up the food so there is always plenty and stations are kept clean. The most impressive act from this staff was when my partner realized he left his wallet in the room. He called from the hotel in a panic and the hotel immediately offered to send a courier to the airport with his wallet. 30 min later, my partner had his wallet and he made our flight! A huge thank you to the staff for going out of their way to make our stay easy and comfortable!
