Detailed Reviews
The Sun Tower Hotel and Suites is right on the beach, between Sunrise Blvd and Oakland Park.
Very nice location and close to Lauderdale by the Sea, Wilton Manors, Las Olas, etc.
This is a boutique hotel with about 23 guest rooms. We stayed in a King Oceanfront Suite with an ample seating area, nice kitchen, large windows with full solar shade curtains that allow for great shade from the Eastern facing brightness. The balcony was a bit small, but enough for two chairs and a little side table. The king side bed was comfortable and they had extra pillows in the closet, which I took advantage of. The full size fridge was a great plus...we went to the grocery store and got a bunch of stuff that we kept for our week long stay. There's a coffee maker, a microwave oven, but not stove.
We were lucky that every time we arrived at the hotel, we found parking spaces available. $10/day.
Our suite (504) had two TV sets, two remotes, two individual AC/Heat units (both very loud and a bit noisy), a sofa bed, two chairs and a dining room set for 4. It was nice to have a door between the bedroom and the seating area. The sofa was not extremely comfortable, a bit stiff, maybe some nice accent pillows would help. There were plenty of electric outlets to charge your phone or laptop...very nice touch. Being a corner unit, we also had a nice view of the beach and buildings facing south....it made the place very bright and airy. Because the building is a bit older, the water coming out of the faucets is a bit rusty, so bring some bottled water for drinking.
There's a nice pool with comfy lounge chaises. No gym. The big plus is the beach right outside the hotel with lounge chair and beach umbrellas included in the resort fee. Some non motorized water activities are also included, but we did not use any of them.
A few things that I would recommend to improve the guest experience are: towel rack or towel hooks (there's really no place to hang your bath towel to dry properly), paper towels in the kitchen area and higher quality tissue paper (the ones they have just rip with the tiniest amount of moisture). The WiFi was also very spotty and sporadic, sometimes, the signal would just drop and when you were in the balcony, the signal was very weak.
The Sandbar Grille is a great restaurant right on the beach. Food is excellent and it's open from 8am to about 9pm. Varied menu throughout the day and a great happy hour selection from 4-7pm every day.
Overall a nice place to stay.

I rated this hotel 5 stars not because it's the normal luxurious hotel you expect for that rating, but because it excels at what it is trying to be. There are plenty of huge, luxurious hotels "on the beach" in Fort Lauderdale, but most of them are across a busy road from the beach.
The Sun Tower is a small, 6-story boutique hotel that is right on the beach. A modest resort fee includes parking, beach chairs, umbrellas, and towels, paddleboards, kayaks, etc. Everyone on the staff always went out of their way to help us in any way they could. The hotel isn't perfect. There are a few rough edges, like some things that need painting, etc., but there were workers doing some improvements when we were there, so I expect these things will be taken care of. Also, it's on the beach, so people will be tracking sand in the rooms, so why does it need to be perfect? The only minor complaint my wife and I had was that the A/C units were a little loud.
My wife and never ended up seeing much of Fort Lauderdale because it was so nice just lying out on the beach, swimming, or walking the beach. We had the Deluxe Suite, and you want this room if it's available. It is on the ground floor with a huge patio and direct access to the beach. The patio has its own lounge recliners, small table and chairs, and even a palm tree. It's a great place to relax, and It is so easy to walk back to the room from the beach if you forget something. This room reminds me of renting a small cottage on the beach, but with all of the amenities of a hotel.

First time staying at the Sun Towers Suites. I am used to staying at the hotel right next door, which is the Pelican Grand. Suntower has the same great location, right on the beach, but is more affordable (usually) and probably one or two star levels below. The rooms were very clean and modern. I liked the decor except it was a little odd that the beach painting in the room was hung upside down. My boyfriend had to fix it. The bathroom was nice too. The balcony is extremely small but at least it faced the ocean directly. The bed was comfy however the bed frame is bigger than the mattress and stuck out on all ends and my boyfriend and I each banged our legs several times as we got out of bed. I had a huge bruise on my leg because I kept hitting the same spot. The hotel was under a little bit if construction in the open hallways while we were there. We never utilized the restaurant but it seemed to be a very popular spot. The pool was decent but not always a lot of sun. The beach is wonderful, of course. The beach chair guy was hardly ever around unfortunately. Overall, this hotel was a nice beachy Florida hotel, nothing fancy, but updated. If you can get a good deal on the price, stay here, but if it's really pricey, you might want to look elsewhere.

We just finished up a 3 night stay and had a wonderful time. We chose this hotel because if it’s small size and our concerns about crowded public spaces. We felt very safe and comfortable the entire time. The staff and other guests all wore masks when inside the property. We never had an issue making sure our beach chairs were at least 6 feet from the next closest group.
The staff was very polite and accommodating. When we arrived late morning on Tuesday, the staff helped to ensure we had everything we needed to enjoy the beach that day while we waited for our room to be ready. When our flight was pushed back several hours today, they did the same. We were able to enjoy another great day at the beach before leaving for the airport. Our room was spacious and clean. You cannot beat the view and the proximity to the surf. My only complaint is the lack of towel hooks and shelves/counter-space in the bathroom. We ended up drying our towels on the balcony chairs and using the windowsill for storage. The Sandbar Grill was a great place to grab breakfast, lunch, dinner or drinks. Staff was very friendly, even when it was crazy on the deck. Thank you for a great getaway. We will definitely return.

If you haven't stayed here, you are missing out. 24 rooms, all ocean front that are decorated simple and beautiful. The best word that I can use to describe the room would be inviting. The fluffy white bedding screams "curl up and get cozy", the flooring is updated and the room is beyond clean. The hotel is truly a gem. The pool has a very lush and tropical vibe to it. Most days, we either had the pool to ourselves, or just a few other guests to share it with. The beachfront bar/restaurant is right around the corner from the pool, and Jackie (works 9-2) will make your entire trip. The food and drinks are delicious and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, and is open until 9 on the weekdays that we were there. We were there for 3 nights and never left the hotel because there was nothing that we needed. The ocean is a step away and you get chairs and an umbrella as a guest. The ocean so calm while we were there, and the beach was not crowded at all.
The staff is SO NICE. We were blown away, as we didn't encounter an unfriendly person the entire time we were there.
Bottom line- if you want a few days of r&r, or a few weeks, in a beautiful and affordable place right on the beach, you will regret not staying here. We cannot wait to go back.

Nestled in between 2 larger hotels, this quaint hotel has just 23 or so rooms, all oceanfront. Each room is just steps from the beach. The smaller scale allows for better and more personalized service. There is one free parking spot, which is unheard of at any beach hotel. All of the rooms are newly renovated, clean and bright with a patio to sit and have coffee in the am or cocktails in the evening. There are paddle boards and kayaks if you want to get a little workout in, or beach umbrellas and chairs if you just want to chill. The Sandbar Grill was perfect! Whether you crave most scrumptious eggs Benedict and mimosas for brunch or the having the Amazing Lobster roll with the calamari appetizer, you will be be disappointed. The food and service were excellent! This was our first time here. We live locally and have stayed at many of new larger hotels for a mini staycation, but this is the perfect spot for a quiet, chaos free getaway. You never have to leave the hotel, but if you want to venture out for some more action, you’re about 2 miles from everything.

Perfect 1 week getaway at the Sun Tower in mid Feb. Booked an Oceanfront King Suite which included a separate bedroom, living room, dining area, kitchenette with refrigerator, microwave and coffee machine. Living room had floor to ceiling windows with breathtaking views of the ocean and a balcony with 2 chairs and small table (see pictures). Staff were extremely friendly from check in to check out. Restaurant on site (Sandbar Grill) with delicious breakfast, lunch and dinner options (mahi tacos were fabulous). Cocktails available to take to beach. Resort fee included 2 chairs and an umbrella which were set up by the friendly beach staff. Never had an issue getting a chair at any hour.
Entire complex was clean and easy to navigate (smaller property - 28 rooms or so). Lobby has a gift shop with souvenirs, beach supplies, snacks and drinks. Short uber ride to Las Olas too. I had no issues with wifi in room, balcony, property or beach.
This was my 1st time here and definitely not my last! Thank you Sun Tower staff for a wonderful vacation!

Local charm with a spacious private beach makes Sun Tower the perfect staycation spot for us. Living in Downtown Fort Lauderdale, we found this newly renovated property offers an affordable get away to relaxing and recharge. Their Sandbar Grill has delicious bites and refreshing sips. The staff of very welcoming, the atmosphere relaxing. It’s one of my favorite Daycation spots in Fort Lauderdale too.

My sister-in-law and I set out for a relaxed vacation with awesome ocean views and we got what we were asking for at Sun Tower Suites. We were thrilled to have designated lounge chairs and umbrellas on this hotel’s private beach and loved that the hotel was small with all of its 20+ rooms having a balcony that faces the ocean. There is also an awesome restaurant located at the hotel with outdoor seating and ocean views that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and has a happy hour from 4-7pm daily. We had breakfast, lunch and happy hour appetizers here and weren’t disappointed in the food at all, especially for a hotel restaurant. The staff were all friendly and seemed to know us by the end of our 5 day trip since the hotel is so small. There is an entertainment district located a few miles away with numerous bars and restaurants that is only a $10 Uber drive away if you are looking for a little night life. We recommend this hotel if you are look for a serene spot for your vacation.

This hotel is a jewel of the sea! As the photos show, it is positioned directly on the beach. It is a small boutique hotel nestled between huge tower buildings which made it feel quaint and cozy. All of the rooms face the ocean so you are guaranteed an ocean view. The beach is not roped off or private but remained relatively empty and only occupied by hotel guests which added to an already amazing experience. The friendly front desk staffer that checked us in was amazing and very welcoming. I think her name was Hollie or Hallie based on the business cards at the front desk but she gave us a whole talk about where we could find local amenities and how the hotel, beach, pool, and restaurant operated. The beds were very comfy and pillows were some of the best I've used in a hotel setting. We had to make some make-do curtains for the bathroom window that was quite bright in the morning but a morning person wouldn't mind it at all. In the south Florida heat and humidity, the air conditioner struggled to keep up but keeping the balcony curtains closed helped a lot. The restaurant was one of the best in-hotel restaurants I've ever dined at. Although the prices were on the higher side, it was still affordable and the food was well worth it. Housekeeping is by request only so let the front desk know if you ever need a room refresh! I do not envy their job because sand gets everywhere. In fact, the bathtub/shower drained a little slow which I expect is a result of all the sand the guests track in. Also, no need to pack a beach towel as they supply towels which you can use at their beach or at any beach you decide to visit, as long as you bring it back! The photos on the hotel's website are 100% real so it meets with expectations splendidly. I also included a photo of our hotel from the plane as we left to emphasize how cozily it is nestled on the beach and how you can have a small boutique hotel feel, in a 5 star resort location. Also, take advantage of the Seabobbing tour that is hosted at the hotel right next door! It is worth it! Thanks Sun Tower for a wonderful stay! We will be back!

Not so much a Restaurant, but the Bar at the Doubletree Suites by the mall has a nice bar overlooking the waterway, and the best part is that it's a Water Taxi route which is a lot of fun. The water tax will take you all over the Ft. Lauderdale Inner waterway with a nice tour, and they serve drinks too. Can't recall if it's free or not, but it's a really cheap tour nevertheless.
There are maybe 6 parking spots right up against the property, to the left of the office.. As a hotel guest, we were given a parking pass. I am not sure if restaurant guests get parking but there are a few municipal parking lots and the walk is not bad at all.
Hello, yes we guarantee one parking space per registered room on property.
Hope to see you soon
