Detailed Reviews
We just got back from 5 days of pure relaxation and bliss. We had booked this trip in Nov, but had to postpone due to rising COVID numbers in Florida. Staff were friendly and accomodating about holding our deposit until we could rebook.
This was our second trip to the Grand, and I already can't wait to go back. They take COVID preparation seriously. Buffet breakfast is no longer available, but they have a nice list of complimentary breakfast items you can ask for at the desk (including terrific coffee!). The Fitness center is available for one person at a time and is cleaned after each use. The staff is just so friendly and accomodating. It was a windy week, so we found ourselves mostly relaxing in the back courtyard, rather than walking the two blocks to the beach. That little courtyard has become one of my favorite places in the world. But when you are ready for the beach, they have chairs and umbrellas available to borrow.
We met some very nice guys during our stay, often at a little end-of-day soak in the hot tub. Guests ranged from their 20s to their 70s. The whole resort is clothing optional, which made me happy, but lots of guys kept their suits on, so there was no sense of pressure there. Tons of great restaurants within walking distance and the reviews of Robert the massage therapist were spot on.
It's beginning to show its age in just a couple of places (our TV didn't always work properly), but that didn't prevent us from having a magical time. Already dreaming of a return visit.

I have to let everybody know that this is a really great resort as I’ve stayed here several times and was able to bring down several other friends this trip. The rooms are large , clean and very comfortable. Staff is very attentive & the location is great only two short blocks to the beach and close to tons of restaurants and bars.
I have to give a special shout out to Robert in the spa who gave me one of the absolutely best massages I’ve ever had. Make sure to book yourself an appointment with him you will not be disappointed. I will most definitely be back and book another appointment with Robert.

My husband and I had seen The Grand Resort and Spa as a sponsor on RuPaul’s Drag Race several times and had always wanted to go. We’d heard from several others that Fort Lauderdale was a great “gaycation” destination, so this seemed like the place to stay.
And it totally lived up to expectations.
We booked the trip back in April, assuming (incorrectly) that the COVID-19 pandemic would be over by October. While that certainly wasn’t true, the staff at The Grand made the most of the situation. We missed the hot breakfast and happy hours that we heard about, but were happy with pre-packaged breakfast items and a cash bar. We may not have seen the staff smiles underneath their masks, but we felt their warmth in every interaction.
We stayed in a one-bedroom suite right alongside the hot tub deck. It was a great location (very relaxing to hear the fountain), and the room was nice. While sparsely decorated, we enjoyed a huge bed and lovely shower. It was also nice having a stove and fridge so that we could do some basic meals on our own while in town for a week (avocado toast and eggs).
What really made this stay, however, were the people. My husband and I are only moderately outgoing at best, and we’re shocked at how easy it was to strike up a conversation—and keep it going—with other gay men from around the country. Most people there were on a return visit, which really says something about the place. The crowd was refreshingly diverse and so inviting. Many nights we were in the hot tub or by the pool until early morning hours just having great conversation.
We both received massages from Robert, and my husband and I agree that it was the best massage we’ve ever had (including some very nice places in Maui). He was warm and professional and our deep tissues massages left us feeling rejuvenated. My husband also raved about his facial/manicure/pedicure from Ray, who he described as friendly and a great conversationalist.
I’m writing this review while at the airport departing the city, and we’re already combing through our calendars to plan a return trip. Can’t recommend this place enough.

Casey Koslowski sold The Grand Resort and Spa on May 27, 2022 to Lior Raviv and four partners for 10.5 million dollars. I am not sure what the future of the Grand Resort is. The new owner is a developer of condos and commercial spaces.
My partner and I were regularly returning guests to The Grand Resort. We really liked it very much. However, our last stay was not as good as in the past. The staff was no longer very friendly and a very strict COVID policy was in place (far more strict than any other place I have ever stayed). The Club House, Fitness Center and Office were closed to guests. A service window as installed in the outside wall of the Club House. Most everything was done through that small service window -- checking in/out, getting a continental breakfast which consisted of some fresh fruit and prepackaged cereals, muffins and bagels and there was also yogurt. There was no longer a hot breakfast with eggs and sausage/bacon. When we requested a cleaning of our room during our 10-day stay, we were handed a package of sheets and a package of towels. We went from being guests to becoming our own housekeeping staff and we had to change our own towels and bed linens. If you wanted a pool towel, you had to go to the service window and request it. As far as I know, The Grand Resort has not restarted offering the hot breakfast and I believe you still must place a request with the staff to get your room cleaned. This place is very expensive and no longer worth the stay for us. Unless things change there, we will be looking at other options for our next Fort Lauderdale visit.

We would normally go to Hawaii over the 4th but the Quarantine we elected to go back to FLL. We stayed here over Christmas last year. Secured the same room. About a week before arrival they sent an email about their covid precautions which included no daily housekeeping, no hot breakfast items, no hot tub, masks, etc. Arrival was quick. Room was good. Items in the kitchen were all wrapped in plastic. I was surprised they did not have extra towels in the room but they are on request at the front desk. On day 2 the hot tub reopened. They put in great wood decking around it. I was not aware that also on day 2 they made July a naked week all month for the entire property. I found out on Facebook. Ruffled my Partners feathers a bit (to put it mildly) but the boys were well behaved. Except for coffee, we did not partake in breakfast. What makes this place is the staff but with understandably limited interaction the place feels a bit off. The County closed the beaches over the 4th so make sure you check beach status on the county site if this is of importance for your trip. We will return, but if the covid restrictions remain I might just rent a house with a pool somewhere.

First time here, stayed in a pool side room,
Rooms are very large with kitchen facilities. Massive comfortable bed, nice shower.
The pool area is now clothing optional as well as the Jacuzzi at the back.
Pool is lovely and warm, Jacuzzi is hot & the jets are very strong.
Garden is very well maintained.
Good mix of travellers all ages, really nice relaxed atmosphere easy to spark up conversation if you like, or just keep to your self if you like.
I would recommend getting a massage while here, they are as good as the reviews.
The gym is nice, small but has what you need.
It is a very short walk to the beach.
When we stayed there was still some Covid restrictions, such as the room not being cleaned unless requested. But that was no big deal really.
For a full body tan, by a lovely pool, I would recommend this place.
Only thing that wasn't to my taste was the art work on the walls. I'm not going to Fort Lauderdale to see pictures of Paris, lol!

It’s still a decent gay resort but definitely not The Grand we used to know and LOVE! Apparently some Israeli group (same as Worthington next door) bought it and who knows if it will stay gay or not. They STILL have no hot breakfast which they’ve promised for months would return. The WiFi is still horrible. I can’t ever connect from my room and even out by the pool get disconnected often. Workout room is old and rusty equipment. The pool heater hasn’t worked for about two years so I won’t use it. They lost their liquor license (same as Worthington) when new owners took over and currently don’t have one so we had to get alcohol elsewhere and bring it in. Happy hour no longer happens at The Grand. They used to have chicken wings and veggies but now it moved to the Worthington and the only food is bags of chips. They used to have discounts if you booked your next stay before leaving but no longer. Several guests said they screwed up their reservations. Their web site still mentions discounts available but staff told me they aren’t honoring them any longer. Staff is very friendly (those who still remain) but overall not impressed any longer. Sorry!

I booked this trip on a whim to get away at Christmas. I was hesitant about the clothing-optional aspect but this seemed more regulated so I clicked purchase. Boy, I am glad I did! Check-in went smooth and we had Penthouse 3 overlooking the Hot Tub. Room was massive with a kitchen (no oven), good size bathroom and an awesome bed. a nice swag bag and welcome note were on the dining room table. Huge Balcony overlooking the street (Noise was not an issue). staff was stellar! The only drawback to this room is it is next to the pool pump but the noise was really not an issue if you had the windows closed. Yes, it is clothing optional at the rear of the hotel by the hot tub but the boys were well behaved. Most of the time with trunks on. good range in ages. Breakfast had a nice spread but they do run out of the hot items if you are a late riser. So much to do with in walking distance we did not move the car. 1 night parking appeared to be an issue here for others so plan accordingly. Check out was quick. This has got to be the best Gay resort in the States. We go to Palm Springs and wish we had something like this over there. We will definitely be back..but not during a naked week. My Partner would kill me!

I can't say enough good things about the Grand. The staff was incredibly responsive and friendly. We came during the pandemic and everything was very safe--mask rules were respected, everything was very clean etc. The pool was so much fun. The resort itself is centrally located and very close to the beach, restaurants etc. It's also just a short uber away to Wilton Manors, where most of the gay scene is. I can't imagine staying anywhere else in Fort Lauderdale!

I always make time for a visit when I'm in FLL because this spa is truly one of the best I've ever been to. The menu of services is so extensive and, for the quality of the environment and their team, it's reasonably priced. I always try to get some time with JD for massage because his hands intuitively find what needs to be worked on. I appreciate being asked how is the pressure but I have never once had to have JD adjust the pressure and I always leave feeling truly better than when I walked in. The body scrubs are also amazing and the nail treatments are excellent. If you're in FLL, make an appointment - you won't be disappointed.

Also, amThe Grand has been sold as of May 1st… same owners as the people who bought The Worthington next door last fall. Supposedly going to combine & make a big gay resort…
Hi maumeek. We do not offer day passes. But if you book a spa treatment, you are welcome to use the facilities of the resort until the spa closes at 7pm.
Our courtyard is clothing optional. The pool area is not. But we do have Naked Weekends where they entire property is clothing optional. Check out website for those weekends this summer.
