Find a different hotel. The managers of this property hold their clients in such contempt that they're quite happy to blatantly lie to them. When we arrived we were assigned a room where the safe was hanging off the wall, had already been broken into at least once and which was locked closed. We asked to be moved to a different room but we're told the hotel was fully booked and a broken safe was not sufficient reason to warrant a room change. We were told that the safe would be repaired, then, some hours later, that it would be replaced. During our whole stay (six nights) it was never repaired or replaced. When we checked out we were told that the safe information we were given was "a bit of an untruth". If the management of this hotel hold their customers in such contempt that they're happy to lie to them they don't deserve your money. In general this hotel is tired and run down. The online photographs it uses are clearly several years old. The pictures show the safe locked closed.

We are 2 senior sisters who didn’t want to pay hundreds of dollars for a place to stay for 2 nights before a cruise out of Miami. We have stayed in Fort Lauderdale before and prefer it to Miami. We were very happy with this old Florida style hotel that didn’t disappoint. There are 2 pools, one at the bar area and one around the back, which was right outside our room on the main floor. The temperature of the pool was very comfortable and lovely for a nighttime swim. The fellow at the desk even helped us with our luggage down the few steps through the beautiful landscaped pathway to our room. The beds were clean and comfortable and the room was clean. You also have access to their sister resorts on the surrounding streets. It’s very cool to walk around seeing all the old Florida hotels that are being replaced by cold looking sky scrapers. It was a wonderful experience and we’d go back in a minute. The wifi was great. We had a fabulous breakfast at The Plaza Bistro food truck just down the road. We stopped by The Grateful Juice Bar which was very cool but we’d already had breakfast. The whole area is Old Florida not to be missed. We stayed at the Gallery one double tree suites before our last cruise but would choose Royal Palms again next time. We felt very safe here and walking around the area. It’s just 1 block to the beach.

The location is great, the pool is nice, and the staff is friendly, but... overall this hotel was in a lot of disrepair. The toilet seat was only half attached, we found a bug in a drinking glass, the bathroom window was stuck. When we asked for extra soap, we got hand lotion. Do not recommend.

This hotel is great for location, basically on the beach and close to restaurants but lacking in areas I wasn’t excited by. We arrived to check in and had to wait for an employee to arrive which took 20 minutes. Were told how to find our rooms which were through a gate we assumed locked, it doesn’t. I don’t like that, and after reading many reviews as I’m staying at the hotel right now I’m not pleased that this has been mentioned in many many other reviews left YEARS ago back when this hotel was apparently a gay hotel. This has since been rebranded but don’t judge the pictures from a few years ago for how the hotel looks currently. Another privacy concern I have is that the bathrooms aren’t really private. When walking around the building you can see into the shower and toilet area. I don’t find that comforting or safe. The windows in the toilet area appear to have once been frosted for privacy but it’s peeling off or otherwise not there. Management seriously needs to spend some time looking into security at the royal palms resort. I’ve seen it mentioned that the room furnishings are like ikea furniture, that’s true. But it’s ok. The doors don’t have a dead bolt lock, dislike that. And there isn’t a phone in the room. There’s a safe in the room propped on a box, but I guess I would say things are relatively clean. I’m going to wear shower shoes because the floor is dingy. Very basic room. Upstairs guests were very loud, and our room was by the pool and bar so also not a great space for quiet nights.

If I could rate Royal Palms any higher, I would! Everything about our 3 night stay was fantastic, including every staff member, the location, the ambiance, the room, the bed, the drinks, the food....it was all beyond our expectations of a hotel that was very budget friendly. One block from the beach, in a gorgeous eclectic neighborhood with wonderful little restaurants to choose from for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. We will be back again and again!

Royal Palms is a clean, updated hotel a block away from the beach for under 200. Really, what’s not to like? We found this place by accident, the hotel we had originally reserved was closed for renovation and we needed to find a place to spend the night on short notice. This is not a luxury hotel, but it meet the requirements for a nights stopover between a cruise and our flight home, and we were able to waste some quality time on the beach!

Place to avoid. I could not sleep the entire night because of a party going on at the pool bar which was right next to my room. As I called the front desk to politely ask them to do something, the lady at the front desk threatened me she would have called the cops if I have kept on complaining. Places like this should be closed right away.

The staff at the Royal Palm South Beach WearLuv Mazie. The beach stuff was super friendly and very accommodating and made our experience here wonderful. The Royal Palms beach stuff is the best you could ask for. The umbrellas are a great size the chairs are very comfortable and the location is great.

Location was good. The rest of the stay was horrible. If I wasn't there on business I would have left on the 1st night. The hotel allowed "spring breakers" to run rampant all over the hotel. Breaking chairs, ripping doors off rooms, trash everywhere, beating on other guests doors and windows. Hotel security was doing nothing about the behavior but partying with them. When management was contacted about the issue they did nothing but make excuses and said other guests would just have to put up with it. They even did not want the police called. Upon checking out the MOD made a religious slur to me as well.

Great location otherwise would rate worse. Poor service. Billing issue unresolved. No curtains on some of the windows in our room. Nobody there in evening. There was a loud pool party that went til 2am. If you want to sleep go somewhere else.
