We had an amazing time at the Pillars. They put a personal touch in everything they do and we will definitely make this a yearly visit. Carmen from the front desk was incredible, my husband messed up our stay dates, but she was able to accommodate us and she was just fantastic. Kate and Johnathan from the restaurant were also so great to talk to. We felt feeling so relaxed and it Was everything we needed. I wanted to hug all of them. Thank you for an amazing stay and we will be back soon! DeDee & Chris.

I hate to write this review because it could cause my little piece of Heaven to become busy, popular and less privite! But to keep this please a secret would be wrong also! It is well positioned to watch the yachts go by, get picked up by the water taxi, walk to the beach about a block away, etc.. One of our favorite mornings is walking 1/2 block to the French Pastry shop, return to the Pillars, grabbing a cub of coffee in the lobby and enjoy all on the dock, soft music playing in the background. We are usually all alone with the exception of a server's visit once in a while to ask us if we need anything! It is so a great start to a perfect day!

My husband and I spent three nights at The Pillars in March. Before we arrived in Ft Lauderdale we started feeling uncomfortable about the trip from seeing news coverage of college co-eds going crazy on the beach and at restaurants. We had nothing to fear at The Pillars! The hotel is small, serene, and peaceful... perfect for relaxing. This hotel feels very grown- up; not sure it would be the best spot for young children/teens. We felt very safe with all staff and guests following Covid guidelines. The service at this hotel is amazing. We felt like we had our own personal attendant. The views of the intercoastal are amazing. We enjoyed dinner at the hotel, sitting on the dock watching the sunset. Breakfast every morning is brought to your room, your patio, or you can eat at the pool or the dock. Bedding and hotel amenities are wonderful. Great wine list, too! If you’re looking for a classy and luxurious escape in Ft Lauderdale this is the place for you.

The Pillars is a gem, away from the hustle and bustle however still very conveniently located. The rooms are well appointed, clean and very comfortable. The staff was terrific. This is a very small hotel but everyone works hard to ensure guests are well taken care of. I would absolutely stay here again. We also had dinner at The Pillars last night and it was excellent. Thanks for a great stay!

Before I get into personal experiences and pros & cons of the member only dining club review, I'll let you in on one secret/ member rule; As per stated on the member rules page, members are not allowed to write a negative review about the property or face result of your membership being revoked with no refund...talk about transparency and honesty, right? So, since I had no intentions on renewing early on in my membership, I waited until my membership expired to write this review. Cons: From our first visit to the last, the service, although friendly, has always been very amateur. They try, but the execution is lacking. The first time we visited was during the holidays in 2020. We sat at the bar and the new bar tendress was visibly frustrated as it was her first shift on a busy night. She claimed that she was not given instructions or prep before being "thrown into it". As a result she couldn't make a number of the drinks on the cocktail menu because she didn't know where ingredients were. Speaking of the bar, offerings are limited. Speaking of the liquor, the wine list needs a MAJOR overhaul as the prices are no longer accurate, nor do they have in-demand offerings for todays wine enthusiast. While they were closed during the pandemic, not only did they not refund members for the time the property was closed, but they did not extend membership either. Soon after the reopening, they advertised a new specials menu at dinner. After receiving the regular menu I asked about the new specials and our waitress didn't know about them and said that she'd find out and come back with my cocktail... She returned with the new specials, but forgot my cocktail, and still was not quite sure about the specials menu - service was always amateur. We had some issues during our membership and dealing with the manager was painful. His customer service compass was way off. We never got an apology in regards to said issues nor a follow up on what he thought was a solution. The dining room is deafening - the acoustics indoors are awful. There are mosquitos outside since it's by the water and because of all the greenery. The kitchen is small and slow - along with the service 90% of the time - so they only accept staggered seating times. I rolled my eyes at their SLH and Conde naste plaques at the front door. Apparently those accreditations are more difficult to lose than keep. Perhaps they are for the hotel and not the dining club. Pros: Friendly service. The food was delicious, kudos to the chef! The property is well kept and beautifully set, right on the intracoastal with great sunset views. They have an area outside called "the landing" that's private for very small parties, but being out of sight means being out of mind and we had to go down to the main dining area to ask for service several times. We only attended one of their themed dinners and it was okay, I wasn't wow'd. Its fun to be able to sample all these cuisines in one place, but at the same time, I prefer going to a Japanese restaurant when I want Japanese, Italian when I want Italian, etc. I liked that you felt like you could dress up, but it wasn't enforced, so you could be in a jacket/dress and the person at the table next to you could be in a t-shirt and shorts. In summary, I would dine there for the food, like a restaurant you enjoy despite short comings, but for a paid members only club, it does not pass our standards. There are plenty of restaurants in Fort Lauderdale, and even central beach, where you can get proper service and a quality meal without having to pay for membership.

Dear JayFLL, To clarify, The Secret Garden Dining Club is a private members’ club operating as an integral part of The Pillars Hotel. We are not a restaurant open to the public. Our membership complement is full and our waiting list to become a member is growing rapidly. The Club offers its members a special intimate fine dining and social experience. Guests in the hotel immediately become resident members of SGDC for the time of their stay when they check in to the hotel. Our Club’s policies are like other private clubs around the world. Service improvement in private clubs occurs through communication between the members and management. Not through social media. Although we strive to provide our members and guests with the highest service standard, we are not perfect, and sometimes unforeseen circumstances will occur. When brought to our attention, we work on improvements. Thank you for the nice comments.
