The most friendly, welcoming stay! Rooms are great and the pool is lovely. The other guests were so friendly and Hazel went above and beyond in every way. Thank you. Will definitely return for a longer stay next time. Highly recommend
We arrived afterhours and the procedure for gaining access to our room was very straightforward. The following morning, we completed the check-in formalities very quickly with no rush to do so. The owner and staff are all extremely friendly and all go out of their way to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The accommodations and amenities are first class, and the pool and courtyard are extremely relaxing. This was the first time that we have stayed there as we have tried various similar locations in previous years. I have no doubt that we will be back!
Just returned from an incredible week-plus stay here. From my very first interaction to the last, I could not have been happier with my visit. To be honest, the high-season price struck me as a little high, given past experience at this type of accommodation, but I will gladly pay it again. Matthew, Hazel, and Jr were always more than happy to provide whatever I wanted/needed during my stay. A cold bottle of water by the pool, and extra towel after checkout so I could hang by the pool before my flight home, and even beach chairs, an umbrella, and a cooler with drinks for my group's trip down to Haulover Beach! No matter how busy they were, they were always ready to make sure my visit was fantastic, to the point of offering additional towels when they noticed we had an extra guest in our room for the night. The facilities themselves are well-maintained and quite comfortable. Plenty of shade areas to escape the sun, a saltwater pool (doesn't taste salty, just leaves your skin feeling great) kept at 92F, continental breakfast, happy hour on the weekends, and even though my room only had a single thru-the-wall a/c unit, it was more than capable of bringing our room down to a very pleasant temperature. Parking isn't a problem, and a grocery store and drug store are just a couple blocks away. One worry I have with most gay guesthouses is that some guests are clearly not happy when they see those of us with more....generous proportions. It's unfortunate, but just a reality when clothing becomes optional. However, I never once felt like I was unwelcome at the Big Coconut. Both the staff and the guests were friendly to all, and so many of them became fast friends during my stay. When I planned this trip, I would have been happy with just a quiet week of working and reading by the pool, with the occasional foray into an already familiar city. What I found instead was far more enjoyable, with some great memories to treasure. I truly hope to see you all again soon.…
Perfect location to get to the beach and Wilton manors. I was provided chairs, umbrella, towels and cooler (complete with ice and water) for the beach. Mathew always eager to lend a hand or provide various amenities, and recommendations of various restaurants in the area. The whole staff very friendly. Happy hour with Tom was a blast.
Very Good Totally Recommended - Nice to see David, Peanut and Tom again! Great Rooms and nicely fitted out. We have been visiting for years so will definitely make another trip. Not a bad location within a short Uber ride to Wilton, Las Olas and the beach with a few good places locally e.g Il Mulino (Italian Restaurant) and Monas Cocktail Bar / Pub 10 minutes walk away.
I have stayed here several times before, so knew I would be enjoying another visit. As expected, I had a great time. Pool was nice and warm, (92F/33c) and lots of noodles and floats for relaxing and soaking up the rays. Also on Friday and Saturday night is Happy Hour, and guests can have a couple of drink on the house poolside. Breakfast is basic, but ample, coffee, cereals, pastries, fruit.. Room was very comfortable...no daily servicing, but one can easily ask for fresh towels or other accessories if needed. Good WiFi and the A/C worked fine. Nice HD TV with plenty of local and cable channels. I look forward to another visit next winter.
Thank you to all the staff who made our stay welcome. The room are comfortable with nice sheets and towels. The location is close to Wilton Manors and a short walking distance to Publics, Walgreens and Crown Liqours. Quests are from all ages and they easily mix with fun and great conversations. Highly recommend this Guesthouse.
I stayed here for the first time this past week for the first time, not really knowing what to expect. Turned out to be an amazing find! It’s well situated, just a few minutes to the beach, a few minutes to Wilton Manors, and only 15-20 minutes from the airport. They have about 14 rooms, 2 floors, wrapped around a really nice pool. It’s cozy and intimate, and of course clothing optional. There is coffee and snacks in the morning, and bottles of water on the afternoon. The pool is kept at a perfect temperature, perfect for a plunge any time. There’s a designated smoking area by the pool. It was extremely relaxing, and conducive to getting to know the other guests or chilling out quietly alone. Most importantly, the hosts are incredible. Dave, Tim and Matthew keep the place immaculate, and are friendly and welcoming. They were always easy to find if you needed something, but more often than not, they provided it before you could even think to ask! Looking forward to my next visit already.…
Just finished a 12 day stay here. David, Tom and Matthew are very attentative, thoughtful and perseptive at being terrific hosts with great eyes to detail. Great location, accomodations and service. I will return and recommend to all my friends. Just the right combination of friendly interaction with other guests and also privacy. Thank you so much. John R.
The Big Coconut Guesthouse is our ‘go-to’ accommodation when visiting the Ft Lauderdale / Miami area whether for a pre-cruise stay or just a quiet getaway vacation. David, the proprietor, has created a beautiful retreat. The location is perfect for us with the beach and Wilton Manor a short drive and a Walgreens and Publix a block away. Hazel and Matthew cater to each and every guest making sure that everything is perfect. They seem to be everywhere at once and quickly make us feel that we are visiting the home of friends. When we return home we try to make reservations immediately for another visit so we have something to look forward to. Thank you David, Hazel and Matthew for making our latest visit very special.
