What can we say about the Big Coconut that hasn’t already been said? It’s a great little spot tucked away from the bustle of the beach but close enough to get ya there quick enough. Ubers/Lyfts to the beach are rarely more than $10–$12; to fabulous Wilton Manor $8-$10. The property is meticulously manicured with several varieties of palm trees and orchids. Selena the dog and Peanut the Parrot are always happy to see ya. The rooms are tastefully furnished and always spotless. There’s now a happy hour that pops off in the afternoon now that Covid is abating. We’ve been here now 5 times and are continually impressed with the service and professionalism of David and Marty. Great spot l, reasonably priced, and a fabu pool area. Y’all enjoy!

This place is definitely a hidden gem. If you are traveling to Ft Lauderdale by plane and don't want to incur rental car fees This place is walking distance to a supermarket a Walgreens, a Liquor store several fast food and even upscale restaurants The beach and Wilton Manors night life is a short Uber ride away. As far as service, The staff is awesome. Always there for you. Constantly checking on you asking if you need anything and a cell phone # is available after hours if there is any questions or any needs. There is a continental breakfast every morning (coffee pastries fruit yogurt) more than enough to satisfy The rooms are spacious and EXTREMELY clean with a full sized refrigerator a microwave and even a kitchenette if you wanted to take advantage of the Publix around the corner. For singles or couples this place is awesome Pool is steps outside your room and very inviting. Fridays and Saturdays check out happy hour. You wont go anywhere else

Great Location, half way between the beach and gay nightlife, making it an inexpensive UBER to either. We had always stayed at gay hotels on the beach though we almost never actually went to the beach only hung out at the pool.
Big Coconut’s pool is heated, felt great even in a cold snap! They do free breakfast and happy hour which creates a friendly atmosphere where guests get to know each other. Wide variety of ages when we were there and everyone was friendly including the owner and hard working staff.

Thanks guys!
David & Kenny

Matthew Hazel and David are friendly. They acted like family as soon as I came in the door. They had my room ready and for me it was huge. I was lucky they were about to get full up and I was able to stay an extra day.

They keep the place clean, The price is wonderful, you are about a mile off the strip but a simple Uber or taxi there isnt a problem

The fellow guests will probably be hit or miss when I was there the guests were friendly and talkative. They have a daily complimentary breakfast it danish, fruit, oatmeal, juices, water coffee.
They did a great job!!!

We could not book at our previous guest house so we took a chance on Big Coconuts. The host David is amazing. He has a big personality and is very generous with his time. He made our stay so wonderful. He is extremely attentive and responsive to your needs. It was about 2 miles to the beach which was a little far to walk, but we did it. We got around very easily with UBER. The guys staying there were unusually nice and that also added to our fun. I do think the staff needs some additional training on cleaning the rooms etc. It was inconsistent. However, we will return next year.

I stood at this guesthouse for 3 weeks.
The room was large had kitchen facility. The management and staff were available and great. The service was superb. Great, great getaway for gay men.
The location of the guesthouse was well located and close to restaurants, car rental, shopping malls tec. I liked this place so much, I booked another entire month in January and will spend new years 2022 at this place.

Had stayed at the original Coconut Cove years ago but, when it closed, looked for other gay properties close to the beach. As those are getting harder to find these days, decided to give the Big Coconut a try for a recent week stay.

The late arrival process worked fine, so we didn't actually check in until the following morning. The room was large, well equipped and very clean. The full kitchen, with fridge and stove, could be quite useful if you have a long term stay. The bathroom was a bit dated, but still functional with no issues. The bed was comfortable and fresh towels were brought every day.

The property itself is kept very tidy and while the pool is small, if you get up early you can find a good spot to spend your day relaxing. There is plenty of parking and it is in a central location for restaurants and bars. There is a limited breakfast, but after a few days it was a bit repetitive.

What makes this place stand out is the staff, as Tom, Matthew and Jim couldn't have been more helpful or pleasant. They were always checking to make sure our stay was going well or asking if we needed anything. We had a small problem with the room safe after office hours and Tom showed up on his time off to help out, which was really appreciated.

We do like going to the beach when we're in Fort Lauderdale, so I did miss being within a 5 minute walk of the ocean. However, it's only a short drive by car and they gladly provided us with chairs and umbrella for our couple trips.

I'm sure we'll be back and if you're looking for a clean, comfortable place to enjoy some Florida sun, then this is certainly a good choice.

It is always a special treat to return to The Big Coconut Guesthouse; a great location not far from many restaurant options and the Atlantic Ocean about a mile away. Super comfortable rooms, the pool area provides many opportunities for shade or sun, and the best part of the Big Coconut is it's welcoming Host (David) and Staff (Tom & Matthew)! They really know how to make your vacation visit special in Ft. Lauderdale. There is ample parking, a continental breakfast, plenty of coffee, bottled water throughout the day and comfortable poolside chaise lounge chairs. As with every time I've stayed here the past decade-I can say I look forward to my next visit to The Big Coconut Guesthouse!

Stayed at The Big Coconut Guesthouse in July. The location is right off Highway 1 on way to beach and the Galleria mall. The guest house is on a dead end street- cozy, quiet location but Publix supermarket and Mall with pharmacy, liquor, food, Dunkin Donuts just 1 block away. The location put it in middle from beach and Wilton Manors so Uber works great if you don't have a car. The place is well kept, friendly - my room16 was big and in corner by back exit so coming and going was nice and just enough away from music and communal area if you like quiet like myself. The heated pool was heaven and it does get sun all day. My room had full kitchen so easy to cook meals, make coffee , put your groceries away. The bathroom was spacious and the wifi was excellent. Overall, really chill vibe for the older traveler. Younger may want a more upswing joint. The DJ playlist was 80s inspired- absolutely Fantastic!

We just enjoyed a great week at the Big Coconut Guesthouse. There were so many things to enjoy about the hotel that I am sure that I will fail to mention some. The hotel courtyard and the pool area were great! The rooms were cleaned and well maintained. There was ample parking; the gated entry and fencing helped assure privacy and security; and the other guests were very personable. However, the best thing about the Big Coconut was the management. Marty could not have been a better host. He was the friendliest, most professional and most accommodating host that I have ever experienced at a hotel. On our first day there, as we sat beside the pool and discussed lunch but did not want to go and get it Marty offered to grab whatever we wanted and bring it back for us. How is that for service! Throughout our stay the service was stellar. Even the hotel mascot “Peanut” was friendly and fun. We are already planning a return trip.

There isn't a hot tub. The resort is actually an old motor inn that has been updated, it is off the main Blvd so noise is minimal. A/C worked just fine.
