Originally built in 1886, the Amelia Schoolhouse Inn was the original school for Amelia Island. Operating as a school for nearly 50 years, the building, despite its prime location in the downtown area, floundered as a multi use property for decades. In 2018, the building was completely restored into a 17 room boutique inn complete with an upscale bar. With meticulous restoration of much of the original aspects of the building - including wood floors, the brick, and windows, the completely renovated Amelia Schoolhouse Inn will make you want to come back to the island time after time.

Very cute place to stay. Had a lovely visit . The inn was so clean and rooms are spotless. Not huge but you have everything you need. Beds are comfortable. Pillows are a bit lumpy but not bad. The bartender Allie is amazing! Makes even the simplest drinks special! I would come back just for her. Close to downtown, easy walk. Stay here you won’t be disappointed!

I don’t know how anyone can find anything wrong with this place :). They are lovely hosts and very accommodating…everyone we encountered was helpful and pleasant. We stayed in room 13, and it was so charming. They had an adorable refrigerator in our room and a microwave, Keurig, ice/water machine right down the hall you can use anytime. The air was great in the room and they have a ceiling fan as well. The bar had a great charcuterie board I ordered twice along with an old fashioned. Live music on Thursdays. The outside putting green and pool is also a huge plus. It’s walking distance from some great local restaurants. Shirt drive to the beach. You can drive your 4WD in many places onto the beach which was game changer for us. The downtown is charming and the traffic was easy…compared to what we are used to in ATL or Hilton Head it was a non issue. We will be back and would not hesitate to tell our family to come too. Thanks Amelia Schoolhouse for a great vaca.

I saw all of the 5 star reviews for this place and decided to try it out on our way to Orlando. Absolutely lives up to the hype. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Lobby very nice. Bar is great. Room was very nice. Bed very comfortable. Nice location.

Third time this year staying at Amelia Schoolhouse. My husband and I absolutely love this quaint hotel. It is an absolute gem. We stayed in room 14 this time and it was perfect choice. The Principal’s Office did not disappoint. The atmosphere is that warm, cozy, friendly. Ally is amazing. We can’t wait to go back.

Needed a good nights sleep before an early morning flight out of JAX and stayed here. Was able to walk to dinner, have a drink, and play putt putt before bed. The hotel was only 35 minutes from JAX and was very convenient. I definitely would recommend this place for a quick trip but also for a getaway with my spouse. We’ve actually stayed here several times before and love this place.

We stayed at the Amelia Schoolhoude Inn on Sept. 13th and truly enjoyed our stay. The staff here makes you feel welcome from Tyler at reception to Cheryl at the fun and well-designed fun bar. Cheryl added so much to our stay also welcoming friends from nearby who joined us.Cheryl made a specialty request for me and it was outstanding. We stayed in the smaller "cozy" Room #12. Our room was so clean and again well decorated keeping with the schoolhouse theme. Our bathroom had a huge shower which added to the room, as well as schoolhouse globe nightlights, etc. in the room. Very nice and not overdone touches, not only in the room, but other areas of the schoolhouse. If we are able to return to Fernandina, we wouldn't stay anywhere but here. Loved it!

We just stayed here for 5 days and adored it. The hotel is a 2 minute walk from downtown and all of the wonderful restaurants and stores. The room we chose--room number 1--had a wonderful king sized bed and a very useful refrigerator and nice sized bathroom and great shower. The A/C was great and it was just such a comfortable room. The hotel staff were wonderful and helpful at every turn. Parking was free and the pool was very nice too. Breakfast was just fine with juices, coffee, yogurt, pastries, etc. I would not stay anywhere else and we will come back very soon. Yes, you could stay at a sterile Ritz Carleton or Omni, but why when you could stay at a wonderful places like this with such character. Its also literally a 2 minute drive to the beach. Nice bar as well!

It was our 35th wedding anniversary, so naturally we had to go somewhere. And it couldn't just be anywhere, it had to be the right place. We're so glad we found just the right place. This small, independent and locally managed hotel is within convenient walking distance of several very good restaurants; as well as the waterfront, shops and enough interesting things to do to occupy ones time for several days. The state park, beaches and lighthouse are within a short drive away. Free on-site parking is provided. The rooms are comfortable. The cozy rooms are, in fact, cozy; but the premium rooms are a good size. Noise was not a problem. In fact, sleeping was not a problem, perhaps because of the pillow-top mattress. The schoolhouse motif is tastefully applied and not overdone. Breakfast, at least for now, is bagels, yogurt, coffee, instant oatmeal, and things like these. Single serving coffee is available to guests all day. We highly recommend the Amelia Schoolhouse Inn for any occasion that is out of the ordinary, for an experience that is certainly above typical hotel chain expectations. The management and staff certainly exceeded our expectations!

I run the risk of increasing the room rates or not finding a vacancy the next time we want to visit, but I must give the Schoolhouse 5 stars. This was our third visit within the year & ASI remains the only place we will stay on Amelia Island. The rooms are immaculate in cleanliness & the decor is meticulous of the period. So comfy & cozy. No matter the weather outside, one can make the room climate perfect for oneself. The bar downstairs is the perfect place for a nightcap. The neighbor is a delight to walk. The staff, Taylor & Ally, are incomparable in their hospitality, kindness & warmth. What a place!!! ❤️❤️

My wife and I had our 10th anniversary here last week and it was a great find. The staff could not be more welcoming and attentive. The location was perfect, we never used our car all weekend. The room was awesome as well. All in all it was a great place to stay and I'm hesitant to rate this too high... I would like it to be our secret.
