We chose the Addison for a one night stay to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. Lisa and Ron, owners of the inn, were very accommodating when we changed the date of our stay at the last minute due to an impending hurricane. Our room was clean, cozy, and very comfortable. Lisa and Ron serve complimentary beer, wine, and appys for Happy Hour and a DELICIOUS (and very filling!) breakfast on the outside deck. The inn is walking distance to all of the shops and restaurants in the quaint historic district of Fernandina Beach and a short bicycle ride (bikes provided by the inn) to the beach. Ron and Lisa were the perfect hosts! We could not have asked for a better way to celebrate our anniversary!

Property's Favorite Review
My husband and I just returned from a two-night stay at the Addison. We researched for a long time before deciding to book the Addison, and made our decision based partly on other reviewers' emphasis on how welcoming and friendly were the proprietors, Ron and Lisa. We were not misled! Besides the perfect location in the historic district within easy walking distance to downtown and great restaurants (see my separate reviews for Fernandina restaurants), the clean, comfortable and luxurious accommodations, and the delicious breakfasts, The Addison offers a relaxed ambiance that makes one feel as if they are a guest in the home of a good friend. This is the direct result of the passion, care and commitment that Lisa and Ron have for inn-keeping. They seem to genuinely enjoy people, their work, and getting to know their guests. This was evident in everything they did to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. There are so many details to mention from the comfortable bed to a fresh supply of chocolates and bottled water in the room every day to beach towels for the beach - too many to mention here. These details, along with Ron and Lisa's attentive and tireless service to their guests, make the Addison even better than home. We are already planning a return stay next Spring. ROOM TIP: Room #3, is bright, airy, roomy and quiet, and could almost be termed a suite. It has no dedicated sitting room as such, but does have two upholstered chairs and plenty of storage for clothes. It stretches across the whole front of the second floor of the main house and has windows on three sides, if you include the large private en suite bathroom. The feature we most enjoyed was the large private balcony with 2 chairs, a small table, and a round table with 4 chairs. The balcony gets the ocean breezes - at least it did when we were there in mid-October - and we enjoyed it as much as we did the room itself. NOTE: Reviewers often mention parking at the Inn. On site parking is limited at the inn - as elsewhere in Fernandina - but we had no issue parking on the street right in front of the inn, and actually found it very convenient for loading and unloading our luggage. There are also public parking spaces on the cross street which would have worked well too. Once parked we did not need our car much as we could easily walk to restaurants, but did use it to drive to the beach and other activities.

We recently heard that Amelia Island was a great getaway spot for couples. We have stayed at B&Bs many times and were fortunate enough now to chose The Addison. The Addison's location is perfect for downtown access and both beach and bay. Our room was terrific. Lisa and Ron were exceptional hosts. Breakfast was incredible every morning and we dared not miss the 5:30PM happy hour. We met a few other couples which added to our experience. Debbie and I will be returning and would highly recommend staying at the Addison.

I looked for a Select Registry Inn on Amelia Island for our 49th Anniversary Celebration. Our plan included a visit to the 2019 "Southern Living" Idea House nearby. I did not find a Select Registry Inn on Amelia Island so I started looking for small boutique hotels and upscale bed and breakfast inns. After a dutiful search of photos and reviews I showed my results to Gayle, my wife, and she agreed. The Addison on Amelia looked like a nice property that would offer a wonderful experience. I called the Addison and talked to co-owner Lisa and explained we would like to book a room and that we would enjoy a boat outing through the salt marshes and dinner at wonderful dining establishments the next two nights. She was pleased to help us make some selections based on her experience. On arrival we noticed a newly installed "Select Registry - Member" sign on the front entrance. We commented upon it and the owners said, "yes, we just got word of our acceptance into the member inns this week and the sign and kiosk just arrived." We were at the Addison for 3 full days and it was an exceptional experience. The Inn offers daily "Happy Hour" with complimentary wine, beer and tasty appetizers. The innkeepers use this social time to learn about guest interests and share things to include in their Island itinerary. The daily breakfast was exceptional - and they serve great coffee in a real personalized Addison Mugs - made in America. I hate paying $8 at large hotels for a paper cup of burnt coffee. We just received professional photos from our afternoon and sunset boat cruise around Amelia Island and over to Cumberland Island. Lisa arranged the evening with "Amelia Adventures." We had an afternoon and evening to our-selves on our private "Captained" boat. He was very knowledgeable about the marshes and shared the rich history of Cumberland Island. It was clear he loved his job. We very much enjoyed this adventure. The dinner reservations were made at delightful chef inspired restaurants each just a five-minute walk from the inn's front door. And yes, we did get to visit Southern Living's 2019 Idea House just a short drive from the Addison on Amelia. Gorgeous furnished house overlooking the Amelia River. Lots of wonderful "Ideas" to remember. We stayed in a luxurious corner suite with an outdoor balcony overlooking Ash Street. After dinner and a cooling thunderstorm we sat out there with a glass of Cognac and recollected our 49 years together. Gayle said, we better start working on the 50th as this trip will be hard to top. Much thanks to Owners/Innkeepers Ron and Lisa West. You offered a delightful and memorable experience. We applaud you and your team for providing us a wonderful 49th anniversary celebration at the Addison on Amelia. David and Gayle Darugh

The owners, Lisa & Ron, are super gracious hosts. We enjoyed the happy hours and breakfasts. While we liked our stay in Amelia in the Florida Inn last year, our room this year at the Addison was much brighter and more spacious. The staff paid attention to every single detail of our stay. There recommendations for dinner were perfect. Wish I could give them 10 stars instead of 5!
