Visited last week and was impressed with the old building and grounds. Its a very lovely building with original floors and furniture. The sitting on the river is beautiful. We did not eat at the restuarant but several people seem to be enjoying their meal. Will return when we have more time to stay at one of the cottages and eat.

History - loved it- very friendly and helpful staff. Family feel. On the water and a pool. Small cabin like rooms on the water with palm trees and birds chirping. Watching the sun set. Not fancy but very unique. Two beds in room for a reasonable price. The gun club is like a small museum. Great porch seating for lunch... More

We visited the Rod and Gun Club recently and were very disappointed. The place itself is an interesting look back into the past and has a very pleasant porch for dining and viewing the Barron River. When we arrived every table was uncleared and a few people dining and some people awaiting service. We semi cleared a table and sat... More

My wife and I enjoy finding different places for a Sunday lunch within a couple of hours driving time from our home in Plantation, Florida. One Sunday we drove to Key Largo for lunch, another Sunday we drove to Naples, another Sunday we drove to Jensen Beach. A friend of my wife's said that she and her husband had enjoyed... More

We had 2 call drinks for $9 that had no color to the Dewars scotch and one glass of house wine for $8. Had to walk around to find waitress to find out what we owed and then she disappeared again and I had to get a manager to take my CASH ONLY!!!!! I had read other reviews which were... More

Had a delicious lunch at the Rod & Gun Club! Grouper tacos! Servers were excellent and the ambiance takes you back to the early 20th century when Presidents and fishing enthusiasts stayed there , smoked cigars and had a glass of whiskey. The tables on the screened in porch overlook a marina with Pelicans circling local fisherman at the dock.... More

What a great historical gem - great foo8d too. Tons of history dating back to 1864. Neat dining experience on the porch. A must stop when in Everglades City, or when on Route 41. Cool antique bar and lobby. Will stay overnight next time Daily fresh fish.

This is a very cool place to stay for an off the beaten path experience. It is a historic lodge which has been well preserved. We stayed in a cabin room next to the main lodge. It was like a state park cabin. The large bathroom had a great shower with all new beautiful slate tile, and a basic sink.... More

Pretty bad stay here, one star was given because of the service at the dinner which was very fun, the waitress was very kind and helpful and another to the pool table the hotel has. The rooms were quite nice apart from the cockroach in the shower though a group of people were having a meeting right next to the... More

Not sure where to begin--the bathroom with the toilet that you have to play with to stop it from running, the gross toilet paper holder, half the electric plugs dont work, half the light bulbs are out, no internet or wifi, super thin walls---had to listen to the person next door snoring all night. Then there is the missing shelf... More
