Great beach, quiet and peaceful. We have vacationed there for 38 years in a row. Great for families. Each year we brought between 30 and 40 people. Owner has doubled prices. Not worth it. We say a sad and tearful goodbye to the beach where my kids grew up, where we have celebrated birthdays, marriages, and mourned family members.
First time coming to the Wanna B and we Wanna B back. My husband and I stayed here for the last leg of our week and wished we'd been here all week. Our room was right on the beach, it was clean and stocked with enough pans, utensils, plates etc. to do some light cooking. A/C wasn't too loud, ceiling fans were only thing that could use a good cleaning. There was a TV and DVD player, we did not use either. Bathroom was small but served its purpose, large closet and dresser. Adirondack chairs & table outside of the room. 2 clean pools, beach chairs, kayaks, SUP and bicycles for use which we used daily. The staff was pleasant, helpful and informative. We had a minor issue on our last day there and GM Kris was super attentive to rectify the issue. There are a few restaurants a mile away, there's a shuttle that can be called not sure of the operating times, we walked. Met lots of nice people who tend to rent it for month(s) at a time. We will definitely be back.…
Word of advice - stay far away from here. The customer service is beyond atrocious, they called my 7 month pregnant wife a liar and belittled her for expecting a clean, on-time room. I would strongly recommend anyone with kids or family to find another location to stay.
What you pay for is never what you get. Disappointed with the room. After over 30 years being here , this is bad. Never again.. Broken coach, table, bathroom sink plugged, burner on stove broken, floors and counters scratched, blinds broken. Staff was sympathetic but told us that new owners did not want too spend money before the remodel. So…. Don’t come. Not worth it.
This was our third stay at Wanna B and by far our favorite. The view from Dolphin Retreat 239 is superb! They have added complimentary beach chairs and kayaks which we took advantage of. They also have been updating some of the rooms. The reason we choose Wanna B is because of the views and not the condition of the rooms. We will be back!
Only plus was Location right on the beach and staff was very friendly. Extremely outdated and the two star rating says it all. Definitely overpriced and would not consider staying here. Vrbo homes for same price in area. 🤮
this was originally built in the 50s/60s era. stayed in the sea star, which is the last unit before the long undeveloped state park beach. the walks are great, but just sitting on the balcony at night and listening to the waves below you is wonderful. it is Formica and vinyl chairs, but still a very comfortable retro hotel.
My husband and I had a nice trip overall. The location is fantastic for the price. The positives were being right on the beach, amazing sunsets, two pools that were very clean and well maintained, several cabanas with picnic tables on site, friendly staff, and having a kitchen. Having a few chairs outside the room to relax was nice as well. We enjoyed a quiet, relaxing trip. We took a few long walks on the beach. We aren’t into shelling, but for those that are, this would be a great place to stay. Fishing and boating seemed to be a big pastime on the island, but we didn’t get to go fishing or boating while we were there. If you do have a boat this property would be a good choice since they have a boat ramp. If you are expecting luxury this is NOT the place. Our unit was definitely run down. It could use a good deep cleaning and some updated furnishings. The bathroom for our room was tiny and there wasn’t a counter to put our toiletries. The tv had a fuzzy picture, but we barely watched it so it wasn’t a huge problem for us. There were a bunch of ants outside our room (not inside though) which made sitting outside a little less enjoyable. The restaurants on the island are pricey and busy which made the kitchen a definite plus. Finally, we understand that you can’t control Mother Nature, but the Red Tide definitely impacted our visit. I would recommend researching before you visit to make sure there isn’t an issue with Red Tide on your trip (especially if you have allergies).…
WannaBe Inn is a great resort right on the Gulf. It an older place which could use some updating, but it is very clean and pretty well maintained for it's age. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Logan went above and beyond to help us with an issue. Need more employees like him.We will definitely be returning!!!
From the moment my husband and I checked in for our yearly anniversary trip we were pleasantly surprised by the charm of this quaint beachfront property. The staff was pleasant and attentive to our needs. I really appreciate all of the precautions they are taking due to COVID, and felt extremely safe staying at this hotel. We will be returning next year, this time with the rest of our family in tow!
